Officers named severally responded , and the W . M . then gave the Masonio Charities , which he designated the backbone of onr Institution . One of the great causes of our Craffc meeting so strongly as it did was that it devoted so much of its attention and substance to the cause of Charity . He mentioned the Samson Masonio Benevolent Association and the Samson Benevolent Fund , the
former having been established to further the interests of the Charities . He should call on a member of tbe Association to respond . They had started in the right way , by establishing a fund by which each member might become a Life Governor of one of the Charities . Tho Lodge itself was a subscriber for five shares in this fund , thereby ensuring the W . M . taking np ten guineas . He had also the preference of call ,
and was thereby enabled to take up a Stewardship without much trouble . The Lodge in time would by this means become a V . P . of all the Charities , and all the members would become Life Governors . He coupled with the toast the namo of Bro .
