Consecration Of The Concord Chapter, No. 632.

CONSECRATION OF THE CONCORD CHAPTER , No . 632 .

THIS event , which circumstances have delayed for some months , or so , took place on Tnesday afternoon , at the Masonic Hall , Silver Street , Trowbridge , aud from the amount of enthusiasm displayed on the occasion we may safely predict a very substantial revival of this degree of the Craft . The Prov . Grand Officers , Comps .

H . C . Tombs as Z ., H . Ward as H ., and Rev . J . A . Lloyd as J ., having opened the Chapter , the Companions , numbering upwards of fifty , entered in procession , with solemn music . The absence of the Grand Superintendent , Lord H . Thynne , through illness , having been explained , the principal chair was assumed by Comp . H .

Ward , who proceeded with fcho cei-emony of consecration , which he conducted in a masterly and impressive manner . The elements of consecration—corn , wine , oil , and salt—having been sprinkled , the Chapter was dedicated with solemn prayer , and the ceremony closed . The three Principals of the new Chapter were then installed , Comps .

A . Parry as Z ., J . Sparks as H ., F . Barton as J ., and the following Officers appointed : —Comps . Palmer S . E ., Wiltshire S . N ., Gauntlett Treasurer , Mann P . Soj ., Hill 1 st A . S ., Foley 2 nd A . S ., Bailey Janitor . A large number of propositions for exaltation and joining Companions were then submitted , followed by hearty congratulations from the

Visitors , and this brought the proceedings to a close , the Companions adjourning to the Woolpack Hotel , where an exceedingly choice banquet was exceptionally well served by Bro . Barton . The M . E . Z ., Companion H . C . Tombs , presided , supported right and left by the Consecrating Officer and Principals of the Chapter . The usual toasfc

list was gone throngh , this most successful gathering necessarily breaking np early , in consequence of so many having to leave by train . The impressive rendering of the consecration ceremony by Companion Ward , the splendid oration of Companion Lloyd , in which the principles of Royal Arch Masonry were beautifully expounded

the musical portion of the service , composed and accompanied by Companion Bambridge , on the mnstel organ , and last bufc nofc least the excellent catering of Companion Barton , tended to make the consecration of the Chapter of Concord an event never to be forgotten by those who assisted in the same . —Wiltshire Times .

A CONVOCATION was held in the Masonic Hall , Old Elvet , Durham , on the 2 nd instant . The Rev , Canon Tristram , D . D ., was amongst those present . AT the Convocation held at the Masonic Hall , Great ; George Street , Leeds , on Wednerday , 1 st instant , tho three Principals for the ensuing year wero dnly installed , viz ., Companions James Yates Z ., Watson H ., Flockton J .: and the following Officers were afterwards

invested : —Companions Jozo Rickards S . K , Blackburn S . N ., Brownfoot P . S ., Abbott and Middleton Assistant Sojourners , Mason Treasurer , and Barrand Janitor . The ceremony of installation was performed by Companion Mason .

Lodge was opened in duo form , and tho minute .- of the last meeting were road and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was reheai-sed , Bro . Vernon candidate . The W . M . proposed rehearsing the ceremony of passing . Bro . Spooner offered himself a _ a candidate , and was examined and entrusted . The Lodgo was opened in the second

degree , and tho ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Bro . Grundy was nnanimonsly elected W . M . for tho ensuing week . After hearty good wishes tha Lodgo was closed . Avant 1216 , Joliffe 1426 , and Morley 1891 were elected members . A vote of thanks was pa . sed , and recorded ou the minutes , to Brother Grundy for his rendering of tho ceremonies , this being tho first time he

had occupied the chair in tho Lodge . A letter was read from Brother Brooks announcing his resignation of the Secretaryship . This was accepted , with regret . Bro . Wobb proposed that Bro . Grundy , who had been Secretary for nea-Iy two years , shonld bo asked to accept the office . Bro . lladclitlo was elected W . M . for the ensuing week .

BRO . THOMAS EUSTACE . THE death of this brother , who was well known and respected at Colchester , is reported in the Essex Standard . He was a Past Master of the United Lodge , No . 697 , a

Founder and first W . M . of the Blackwater Lodge , No . 1977 ; and a P . M . of the Constantine Mark Lodge , No . 145 . The remains of the deceased wero interred at the Colchester

Cemetery on Monday afternoon , amid every demonstration of respect . Several members of the board of Guardians were in attendance , and many of tho deceased ' s fellow tradesmen and personal friends , while a very large

contingent of the Masonic body , of which the deceased had long been an active member , formed a procession at the entrance to the Cemetery , and accompanied the body to the grave . This procession was rendered additionally striking

by the presence of a number of military brethren in full uniform . The Freemasons present were : —United Lodge , 697 : Bros .
