Edinburgh , on the 2 nd inst ., Past Grand Master the Earl of Mar and Kellie on the throne . There was a large attendance , upwards of 300 Masons from all parts of the country being present . The Senior Grand Warden ' s chair was occupied by Bro . James T . S . Elliot of Wolfelle , and that of the Junior Grand Warden by Bro . Lord Saltoun . Bro .

Sir Charles Dalrymple , Bart ., M . P ., Prov . Grand Master of Argyll and the Islands , acted as Grand Master-Depute , and Bro . F . E . "Villiers Provincial Grand Master of Damfrieshire as Substitute Grand Master . The followinc

letter from the Grand Master had been printed , and was circulated among the brethren , after being read from the throne by the Acting Grand Master : —

generous indulgence of Grand Lodge , whose kindness has alread y deeply touched me . I very much regret that I must be absent on 2 nd February . Every day I feel I am consolidating the recovery of my health ; and in viow of the hard work which I know the next
