Kyezor , thanking the brethren for their expression of sym . pathy and condolence with her on her bereavement , and the Secretary was requested to enter the letter on the miuutes of the Lodge . Bros , Millsom and Bellamy were eleoted members of this Lodge of Instruction . Bro . H . E . Tucker was elected W . M . for the next meeting .
The Crusaders' Lodge , No . 1677 . —The first meeting of this Lodge after the Installation was held on Wednesday evening , tho 12 th of November , at the New Market Hoi-ol , West Smithfield . Bro . G . Goode W . M . presided , and the other officers present were : — Bros . Hunter I . P . M ., J . W . Simmonds S . W ., Rothschild J . W ., Maples Treas ., Defriez Sec , Mill ward S . D ., Calderwood J . D ., Gay D . C ,
Rushton Org ., Pigot I . G . The only visitors present were : —Bros . H . Thompson 1426 and P . M . 177 and 1158 , A Thiemans P . M . Faith 144 , and Lehmeyer W . M . Urban . The minutes of the Installation meeting of the Lodge were read and confirmed , after which the Lodge was opened in tho second degree , when Bro . Thomas Mount Keiler Gilbert was examined and entrusted . The Lodge being opened in
the third degree , he was , in a most impressive manner , raised to the degree of M . M . The Lodge was then lowered to the second degree , and Bros . Budden and Lennard were passed to the degree of F . C . A ballot then took place for Mr . Augustus Thomas Buckingham , the well-known and social host of Clerkenwell-green , which proving to bo unanimous , he was introduced and most impressively initiated by the
W . Master into the mysteries and privileges of anoient Freemasonry . Several of his friends , who came to witness the ceremony , congratulated him upon his admission to the noble Order . Somo other business having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the large hall for refreshment , and a very ex . cellent and substantial repast was served up , in first-rate style , the
viands "being good and tbe attendance excellent , leaving reall y nothing to be desired . Bro . Butt ( the worthy Host ) personally superintended all the arrangements . After the withdrawal of the cloth , graoe having been said , the W . M . gave the first loyal toast , which was that of "The Queen and the Craft ; " this was most heartily responded to , followed b y the National Anthom , Bro . Lehmeyer
presiding at the pianoforte . The next toast was that of " His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons , " a toast -which was most enthusiastically responded to . The other formal toasts having been given , Bro . Hunter ( Immediate Past Master ) proposed the health of the W . M ., aud descanted on the very able manner in which he had discharged the duties in the chair . The
W . M . said he had been suffering from illness , which prevented him from going through the business in the way ho could wish , but ho trusted to be better able to discharge them in the future ; he sin . corely thanked the brethren for the honour they had conferred upon him . The next toast was that of their brother initiate ( Bro . Buckingham ) . In giving his health , the W . M . said ho believed that he would
prove a good and worth y Mason . This tonst was likewise enthusiastically responded to . Bro . Buckingham thanked the brethren for the honour conferred upon him by admitting him a member of their ancient Order ; he could assure them that he would do all in his power to prove himself a good Mason . The health of the Visitors was then proposed by Bro . Senior Warden , who congratulated the
Lodge on having amongst them , aa visitors , some of the most wellknown members of the Craft . Bro . H . Thompson , in acknowledging the toast , congratulated the Lodge on possessing so efficient a Master ; having witnessed two of the ceremonies performed that evening he , as a somewhat old Mason , could say with confidence that the Lodge had good reason to be proud of their Master , and of his
having that night added another link to the great fraternal chain of Freemasonry . He thanked them for the kind hospitality they had shown him , and although that was his first , he trusted it would not be his last visit to the Crusaders' Lodge ; that evening had been to him one of unalloyed pleasure . Bros . Thiemans and Lehmeyer also re .
turned thanks . In the course of the evoning Bro . Lehmeyer delighted the members with some choice solos on the pianoforte , particularly so by Thalberg ' s " Home , sweet home , " with variations . Some other toasts were given , songs sung , and thus a very happy meeting was brought to a close .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Willis candidate . Bro . D . Moss worked the first
and second sections of the lectnro , and P . M . Stuart the third , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Willis of 1326 was elected a member . £ o 5 s was voted from the funds of tho Lodge of Instruction , to be placed on the list of Bro . G . H . Stephens , who has undertaken a Stewardship at the next Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution . Monday next will be " Preceptor ' s Night ; " on Monday , 1 st December , Bro .
