The minutes of last meeting wero confirmed . As there was no candidates for degrees Bro . P . A . Nairna explained , in masterly ttyle and aconraoy , the first traoing board , enlisting the attention and eulogies of those present . - After the Lodge had been closed the brethren dined together under

the supervision of Bro . Henry , of the Albion , ihe usual loyal and other toasts were honoured . The visitors expressed the pleasure and enjoyment reoeived from the Lodge , after which the Officers and Tyler's toast brought a very pleasant evoning to a close , the brethren separating about 10 * 30 p . m .

BURGOYNE LODGE , No . 902 .

THE annual installation meeting of this anoient Lodge was held on Monday , at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet Street , E . C , npon whioh occasion a large number of the members and thoir friends assembled to take part in the interesting ceremony . Brc . II . "Norrington tho W . M . presided , and was supported by tho following brethren : — Frederick Varley W . M . 1260 , R . H . Rodfearn W . M . 753 , William Drewett P . G . S . B . Surrey , A . R . Trew P . P . G . S . W . The Audit Committee presented their report , from which wo gathered that tbe finances of the Lodge were in a satisfactory condition , that is to say , not too large to warrant

any distrust that the brethren had been remiss in their obligations , nor too small to cause any anxiety to the incoming Master . The Lodge Charity Account also showed a Bmall balance , after the distribution of a large amount . The report was therefore received , adopted and ordered to be printed . The W . M . then vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Johu Beddoe P . M ., who proceeded with the

installation of Brother W . Rouse Larter , who had been unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year . The ritual was carefully and impressively worked by Bro . Beddoe and gave great satisfaction to the brethren . The following Officers were appointed to assist the W . M . during his year of office : —Bros . S . Rasbleigh S . W ., C . Cowlaud J . The very valuable Lodge jewel was presented to Bro . H . Norrington I . P . M . for his services during tbe past year , and a handsome Past Master ' s collar and jewel were given to Bro . E . S . White by some of the members as a mark of appreciation . Tho newly made Master soon gave

proof { of his capacity for office by the initiation of Mr . William Henry Snow , which ceremony was extremely well rendered , all the new Officers lending efficient service . A candidate was proposed for the nest meeting , and tho W . M . having received tho hearty good wishes of the brethren , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the company adjourned to tbe banquet room .

The usual loyal and complimentary speeches followed , which were interspersed with some capital songs and recitations , and altogether a very enjoyablo evei . ing was spent . Bro . William Rouse Larter was born in 1843 iu the parish of Marylebonp , London , and was initiated into Freemasonry so recently as 1887 in the Burgoyno Lodge . As the I . P . M . & t » ted , he has made

rapid progress , but bis work in tho Lodge was entitled to great credit , and he is a good aud worthy Mason , one who has always the interest of the Order at heart . In connection with tho Lodgo wo may mention that there is at Anderton ' s Hotel and energetio young Mason Bro . W . S . Wagstaff

who , without holding any recognised rank , materially assists in promoting the comfort of tho numerous brethren attending the various Lodges held at this establishment , by looking after them and their effects outside the door of the Lodge . Conrtesy and civility in any rank ought to be encouraged , and we have much pleasure in bearing testimony to Bro . Wugrtaff ' s attentior .

ARCHITECT LODGE , No . 1375 .

1 \ HE regular meeting of this Lodge was hell at the Masonio Hall . Chorlton-cnm-Hard y , on Friday , Gtb ins * . After tho reading of minutes , Bro . Councillor John Bradshaw P . M ., who had reoentl y been appointed Prov . G . S . D ., entered the Lodge and was received with Provincial honours .

Bro . Sar-ro was then subjected to the usual questions , and having proved his efficiency , waa passed , tho whole of the coremony being performed by the W . M ., in his characteristically admirable manner , the working tools being presonted by tho J . W . A notice of motion proposed by tho W . M ., and seconded by Brother Bradshaw , that " the sum of five guineas bo given out of tho Lodga

Charity Fund to the Royal Masonio Institution for Boy ? , wns ca'riod unanimously . Bro . Beover afterwards presented to tho Lodgo a valuable banner , which was formally accepted with vi t < s of thanks by Bros . Nail and Bradshaw . The banner is a magnificent work of art , tho samo being executed by Messrs . Thos . Brown and Son , Princess Streot ,

Manchester . In presenting it , Bro . Beever said that it was intended as a memento of the " Majority Year " cf the Lodge , and as a souvenir of his own year of office as W . M . With no little feeling nnd pathos he concluded his remaiks by adding : "May this banuer remind ns that our words and aoiioos are observed by the Great Architect of the Univeise , and may those words and action ? , both in Lodgo and

at the social board , do credit to ourselves as men , aud honour to the glorious brotherhood of Masonry . " Bro . Beever announcod that at tho November meeting of the Lodge there would be in attendance the Deputy Prov . Grand Master of West Lancashire , acoompatiied by a large number of Provincial Grand Offioers . In the Lodge , and at the festive board which was subsequently held , there were present : —Bros . to Master , Wardens , and brethren were admirably delivered , and Bro , Guyton received the thanks of the Lodge for the manner in which he had inducted tbe new Master into his chair of office . Several apologies for non-attendance were read , and a handsome P . M . ' s jewel having been presented to Bro . D . T . Keene in acknowledgment of hia valuable services and striot attention to the interests of the

Lodge during his term of Mastership , a few other items of- general business received attention and the brethren adjourned to banquet . The utmost harmony and good fellowship pervaded the social gathering throughout , and all alike admitted that both in regard to Lodge work and subsequent association , in the honr of refreshment , nothing had been wanting to place the meeting on a level with many gatherings of a like natnre during the past twenty years .

Officers for the year . Bro . Steffen was afterwards elected to represent the Lodge on the Essex Provincial Charity Committee , and other matters of business having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed and the brethren adjourned to banqnet . There were upwards of 40 brethren present , all of whom appeared to have spent a pleasaut evening .

The utmost harmony and good fellowship pervaded the social gathering throughout , and all alike admitted that both in regard to Lodge work and subsequent association , in the honr of refreshment , nothing had been wanting to place the meeting on a level with many gatherings of a like natnre during the past twenty years .

meeting were confirmed , after which Bro . W . H . Wheatley was ballotted for as a joining member , and was unanimously admitted , Lodge was then advanced and Bro . Otto Steffen was installed as Worshipfnl Master , subsequently appointing and investing the

Officers for the year . Bro . Steffen was afterwards elected to represent the Lodge on the Essex Provincial Charity Committee , and other matters of business having been disposed of , the Lodge was closed and the brethren adjourned to banqnet . There were upwards of 40 brethren present , all of whom appeared to have spent a pleasaut evening .
