( Cheers . ) The GRAND MASTER Avould now propose a toast most intimately connected Avith the best principles of the Order , and he was anxious the Brethren should give their best attention to it . He Avas sure they Avere sufficiently good Masons to know that the
foundationstone of the Order was Charity ( cheers ) , and the toast he had now to propose Avas , "The Masonic Charities . " ( Applause . ) He need not say more to recommend the toast to their notice ; but he AA'ished to call to their recollection that the Festival of the Girls' School Avould take place on the 19 th of May , and he trusted that upon that occasion there would be a meeting of no ordinary magnitude , and that
they AA'ould be prepared to support it to the utmost of their ability , because they had undertaken to erect a neAV school , Avhich in the course of the year Avould be opened . A great expense had been incurred , but their means of doing good Avould be greatly increased ; in order , hoAvever , to do this , a large amount of subscription Avould be required , ancl he trusted that all the Brethren Avould not only be present , but , so far as their means Avould alloAA ' , Avould give liberally .
