Masonic literature . In introducing the subject , our Rev . Bro . gives the following " bird ' s-eye view of the ceremony of Initiation , " showing how beautifully and indissolubly are Revelation and Masonry conjoined : —¦ "The candidate who has not been as yet admitted as a child of LIGHT is , as a matter of course , represented in a state of darkness , just as chaos was before ' the Spirit of Gocl moved upon the face of the waters . ' The poor candidate in that state obtains the most practical view of himselfj without the benign
influence of that spirit ; and when he makes the confession that he stands in need of the blessing of light , all the Brethren join in the ceremony ***** which gives a fan- notion ofthe statement made by- the ms £ > ired recorder : — ' And the earth was without form and void ; ancl darkness was upon the face of the deep . Ancl the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters . ' * And whilst the Brethren are in the aet of representing the operation of the Spirit , the AV .
