Died , art . 35 , at Ceres , Fife , on the 12 th August ( where he hacl gone on a visit ) , the Rev . ALEXANDER STEWART , Rector of Montrose Academy Pie possessed talents of a very high order , ancl these were happily associated with discriminating judgment , originality of thought and independence of mind . Endowed with these essential qualities , we need scarce add , that his attainments in science and literature were most comprehensive and profound . He succeeded in imparting to the minds of his taste for knowled
pupils a ge by the facility with which he impressed instruction upon their understanding . By them he was beloved by society respected . A surviving parent has to lament the loss of a most ^ dutiful son . Brother Stewart was a member of the Lodge St . Peter s , Montrose , where he occasionall y acted in the capacity of Chaplain ; ancl often instructed ancl delighted the members by his excellent addresses on the princiles ancl practice of our Order

mount l-lerortim Chapter , 54 , sincerely regretted . Sept . 25 . —At Corbeil , near Paris , of apoplexy , Brother LAPORTE , the active and enterprising manager of the Italian Opera , formerly manager of the Theatre Royal Covent Garden , and at one time attached to the corps dramatique of the English Opera House . Brother Jean Dubourg , P . M . of the Lodge of Regularity , was with him when he died . September 27—Much ancl deservedly respected , Bro . HENRY FOXof caster
