PRESCOT . —Lodge of Loyalty ( No . 86 ) . —The little town of Prescot , situated near Liverpool , retains more of the ancient habits , customs , and institutions of the country than any other jilacein the whole ofbroad Lancashire , the time immemorial curfew bell being still tolled nightly at the hour of eight from the parish church tower , but apparenti y without having the effect of giving true signal as to the extinguishing of all lights ; and not the
least interesting of the many century-old landmarks treasured by the steady-going residents of the town is the possession of what is perhaps the oldest lodge in the Province of West Lancashire—this is the Lodge of Loyalty , No . 86 , the charter of constitution ( now in an admirable state of preservation and carefully treasured ) bearing the date of 1753 ; and the brethren connected with this branch of Freemasonry are naturally very proud of their ancient
records and the 130 years' existence of the " Loyalty .
