A Board of Installed Masters having been formed , Bro . Field , P . M ., installed the YV . M . elect into the chair of K . S . in a most impressive style . Every word of the beautiful ceremony was felt as well as uttered , so attentive were the members that one might have heard a pin drop .
The new master would have felt the charges go home to him , and they will doubtless have an appreciable effect on him during the next twelve months . YVe have often heard the installation ceremony , but never realised it more than on Monday , and hope to have an opportunity of hearing Bro . Field on another occasion . The YV . M . invested his officers as follows : Bros . G . D . Bundy , S . YV . ; YV . Batty , J . W . ; R . H . Harvey , P . M ., Treas . ; H . C . Jefferys ,

Sexton , of Westminster Abbey . During dinner the Battersea Amateur Orchestral Band played a selection , conducted
by Bro . 1 . Spearing , which added a great deal to the pleasantness of the dinner . During the evening the following glees were sung : " The mighty conqueror , " " By Ceha's arbour , " " Phyllis dyes her tresses black , " and " Hail ! smiling morn . " In giving the toast of " Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen " the Worshipful Master said he would make the toasts short , as there were a great many to be gone through .
Her Majesty he ( the YV . M . ) said was beloved not only tn England , but throughout the universe . The YV . M . then gave " Her Majesty the Queen , mother of the head of thc Craft . " The National Anthem was then sung . In giving the toast of " H . R . H . the Prince of YVales , M . W . G . how his Royal Highness really enjoys working in the Craft . Whenever his Royal Highness was able to attend Grand Lodge he did so . " God bless the Prince of YVales " was next sung . The toast of "The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was next honoured . Bro . Lestocq then recited in admirable style Bro . Sims ' poem , " Christmas Day in the Workhouse , for which he
received well-merited applause . The I . P . M ., Bro . Gabb , then said he stood in a more peculiar position than when he stood before them a month ago . It was a great pleasure to propose "The Health of the W . M . " The W . M . owes a great deal of the pleasure of his position to the brethren , and therefore he ( Bro . Gabb ) hoped the lodge would do their best to make the new YV . M . 's year of office a pleasant one , and assist him in every way they could . Hc assured Bro . Wilkins he had his
best wishes and those of all the brethren . 1 he YVorshipful Master in reply said hc could assure them he owed a great deal to the lodge for the kind way they had drunk his health , and asked them to second what the I . P . M . had just said by assisting him during his year of office . In giving "The I . P . M . and the Installing Master" the W . M . said every one must be thankful , for they had carried out their duties in a manner pleasing to all . With respect to the I . P . M . no one knows the difficulties he hacl

to contend with ; much of the success of thc Burgoyne Lodge was owing to him ; it had had troublous times but he had guided it safely through . With reference to Bro . Field , the Installing Master , he had also great pleasure in giving his health , inasmuch as he was VV . M . when he ( Bro . Wilkins ) was initiated , and it was at his special request that he had installed him . Bro . Grabb in rising to respond was greeted with cheers .
Hc said it was very pleasant to find his health so well received . Nations have their trials , business firms have their trials , and lodges have their trials ; the Burgoyne Lodge had not been exempted , but it had come out well from its trials , and he would do his very best to make it second to none in the United Kingdom . The officers appointed that night were all good men , and if they would only stick to it the year 1 SS 3-4 would be a very happy one in
the annals of the lodge . Bro . Field said he thanked the W . M ., S . and J . YVardeus , visitors , and brethren for receiving the toast proposed by the YV . M . He had had the honour to admit him to light , andthe pleasure of exalting him in the Royal Arch and now to install him into the chair of K . S . He had attained the pinnacle of his ambition . He had known Bro . Wilkins long and had a high opinion of his friendship , commenced
in Masonry only to end he hoped in death . Bro . Field , one of the most kind and genial of the many members of the lodge , resumed his scat amidst applause . In giving the toast of "The Visitors" the YVorshipful Master said he would not ask all to respond , but he would read the list of those present . The Burgoyne Lodge was always glad to see visitors . Bro . Baxter in responding said the YV . M . having done
him the honour to couple his name with the toast he felt the high compliment and thanked him in the name of the visitors for the great treat they had had . It always afforded him pleasure to visit the Burgoyne Lodge , but particularly that evening when the VV . M . had provided them with such excellent music during dinner time . Now-a-days no man is appointed to office unless he can work or has distinguished himself in some way ; he was quite sure all the new ofiicers
had been well chosen ; Bro . Field had admirably performed the installation ceremony and the comforts of the visitors had been well attended to by the YVine Steward , and therefore he thanked them again . Bro . Ansell also replied , and said although a stranger he thanked the lodge for allowing him to say a few words . He had enjoyed the installation , and felt proud that lodges
coming after his , No . 30 , were equal to take up the work of those older lodges . He instilled into the brethren the virtue and necessity of charity , and said that in his own lodge they put 10 per cent , of the funds away for charity . Bro . Bird , P . G . S . B . Middlesex , in responding said , in common with those who had spoken , he hoped as the lodge had had its trials and the visitors had been so well received
that it would be a pity to have any more troubles . He hoped trouble was banished for ever . By the Constitutions they were enjoined to visit other lodges and see that the working was uniform . He had learned something that evening , and would take it back to his lodge . It was the third invitation Bro . YVilliams had given him , but he had not been able before to accept them , and should he be honoured again with an invitation he certainly would
accept it . Bro . Larham also responded , but his remarks were quite inaudible . 'l'he Worshipful Alaster next said the Past Masters numbered about eight or nine and were the pillars of the lodge ; they had carried out tlieir duties in a most efficient manner , and were always willing to lend assistance and give advice , and the brethren knew them to be good Masons .
Bro . Brooks , P . M ., was very proud to be called on to respond . He was initiated in the lodge and had served the various offices ; it was pleasing to see officers coming forward to take their place in the chair . Bro . Harvey , the Treasurer , in reply to his health , told the brethren they had nothing to thank him for as he had only just taken oflice . They had presented him with a good balance , larger than ever it has been . He would
look jealously after the interests of the lodge . He believed it his duty to pay cheques if sanctioned by the YV . M ., but he would endeavour to keep down the expenses and increase the Charity Fund , and if any brother would propose any such motion he would heartily support him . Bro . Jeffreys , the Secretary , also replied to the toast of
his health . The remaining toasts were " The Officers , " to which they severally replied . Bro . Lestocq gave another recitation , " Hans Breitmann ' s first smoke . " The brethren and visitors after an exceedingly pleasant evening spent together dispersed at a late hour .

and install the W . M . elect . The retiring W . M . then presented his successor , Bro . E . Good , S . YV ., to the Installing Master , who performed the ceremony in a calm , clear , and distinct manner , every word telling . The W . AI . having been regularly installed into the chair of K . S . received the usual salutes from the brethren and invested his officers . Bros . Horton , S . W . ; Stringer , J . W . ; W . Andrews , P . M ., Treas . ; Pakes , P . M ., Sec . ; Harvey , S . D . ; Fisher , J . D . ; Thomas , I . G . ; George Andrews , P . M ., Dir . of

M . added a few kind and graceful words to each officer on presentation . The Three Charges were then delivered by the Installing Master in a most faultless manner . The YV . M . then presented the I . P . M . with a very handsome jewel whicli had been voted by the lodge . l'he more than usual compliment having becn passed to the Installing Master , the

widow of a deceased brother was voted three guineas and the lodge closed in due form . At the banquet which followed , after due justice had been done to thc excellent menu provided by the courteous host , Bro . Morgan , the W . M . very tersely gave the usual Masonic toasts .
In giving " I he Visitors " the W . M . alluded to the pleasure he himself and all members of the Royal Oak felt in their company , and only regretted that some of them had been obliged to leave early . Bro . H . B . Taylor , Sec . 1531 , in reply assured thc YV . M . and members , that the visitors much enjoyed the way in which the work of thc lodge had been conducted and thc
hospitality extended to them . , T ^? . y ° ? . P ful Master "' en gave "The Health of the I . P . M . " whicli was received with cheers . up the character of the lodge , and he felt sure if such was done , with the assistance he himself would receive from the Past Masters , none of the members would ever rcret the evening they had just spent . best wishes and those of all the brethren .

" The brethren and visitors after an exceedingly pleasant evening spent together dispersed at a late hour .

widow of a deceased brother was voted three guineas and the lodge closed in due form .
Bro . H . B . hospitality extended to them . , T ^? . y ° ? . P ful Master "' en gave "The Health of the I . P . M . " whicli was received with cheers . up the character of the lodge , and he felt sure if such was done , with the assistance he himself would receive from the Past Masters , none of the members would ever rcret the evening they had just spent .
