* The new Alhambra . Leicester-square , will probably be rebuilt by the end of October . It will be an elegant and roomy edifice , provided with all the latest improvements for the safety and comfort of the audience . Its cost is estimated at £ 50 , 000 . Bro . YV . Holland , the manager , took a benefit at the Gaiety on Wednesday , when many of the principal artistes appeared in tlieir favourite and wellknown characters .

. * * Bro . Bancroft has given notice that if the adaptation of a French novel by Mr . Frith , son of the celebrated R . A ., announced for performance , is a colourable imitation of Af . Sardou ' s " Fe'dora , " which Air . Herman Menvale is translating into English , he will proceed against every one cor . cerned in it—author , p layers , and lessee . But Bro . Bancroft is not likely to have this expense , as managers and actors have refused to have anything to do with Air . Frith ' s play . h
