Adair Pickard , has his portrait as frontispiece to the present issue , vhich will be a « lad sight to many ; and , contrary to the usual custom , Bro . particulars of the Festivals , making use of the columns of the Freemason for that purpose , and gracefully acknowledging his indebtedness accordingly . For the year ending December 31 st , 1 S 92 , the large sum of £ ( 175 was disbu'sed in Charity by the province and the lodges , and during 18 75 —1 S 93 the grand total of £ " 6599 was raised for the three

praiseworthy manner by Bro . W . F . Drrver . The following were appointed and invested officers for the year : Bros . H . Baker , S . W . ; G . Cranmer , J . W . ; C . Gibbs , Treasurer ; J . J . D . Magee , P . M ., Secretary ; | . Reeves , P . M ., D . C ; R . J . C . Cawse , S . D . ; A . E . Halfhide , J . D . ; J . R . Rutter , I . G . ; P . Neller and F . Butler , Stewards ; and T . Williams , Tyler . The usual addresses were very ably rendered bv Bro . VV . F . Driver .
The lirst duty of the newly-installed Master was to present Bro . VV . F . Driver , the l . P . M . with a Past Master ' s jewel , which he did in a few appropriate words , remarking that he was an excellent worker of the ritual , and had performed the installation ceremony in a very impressive manner , and it could not have been done better . Bro . Driver expressed his thinks for the kind appreciation of his services and said he would continue to work his hardest for
the lodge . Ten guineas having been unanimously voted to be placed on Bro . Driver ' s lis . t as Steward for the Girls ' School , The lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of an excellent banquet . At the conclusion of the repast the W . M . gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts with commendable brevity , and which were duly honoured .
In responding for the toast of " The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " Bro . W . P . Brown , in a lengthy speech , said that he could not lay claim to an elevated position at Grand Lodge , but he had the good fortune to know the Grand Officers personally . This was his first visit to the lodge , although he had been connected with Wimbledon for 21 years , and he had known their estimable VV . M . f ~ r a very long time . He had attended many lodges , but in none
had he seen better uorking than that of their l . P . M ., Bro . Driver . The working also of the ollicers was pre-eminent and satisfactory in every way . He hoped other Grand Officers would make a point of attending the lodge . The I . P . M ., Bro . Driver , in proposing "The Health of the W . M ., " stated that the toast would be reciprocated by all the members . Bro . Tomlin had taken a very great interest in the lodge . He had suffered much , but was now
happily restored to health . He wLhed him from his heart a very prosperous year of office . The toast was received with great enthusiasm as was the W . M . on rising to respond . He was much gratified at his reception , and said he owed a great debt of gratitude to the brethren for placing him in that exalted position , which he would not have accepted if he thought he had not their confidence and sympathy . He was of opinion that every
member should aspire to the chair in Ins mother lodge . Re-lying upon his ollicers , of whom he was proud , he would do his utmost to carry out the duties of his office , which he hoped would be satisfactory to tho brethren , and when he vacated the chair his earnest wish would be to leave it as unsullied as he found it . The VVorshipful Master gave the next toast , " The Installing Master , Bro . Driver , " observing that the
ceremony was very impressive and reflected great credit on the lodge that they had a member so ably qualified , and he was honoured by being installed by Bro . Driver . Bro . Driver , who received a hearty greeting , responded . He thanked the brethren for the way they had received the toast and the VV . M . for his kind words . He had had a successful year of office—the best ever known since the formation of the lodge—for which he had to thank his
oflicers for their assistance , and he hoped the brethren would do to their genial W . M . the same as they had done to him , The toast of " The Visitors " was next given in cordial terms by the VV . M ., and the following brethren responded : Bros . Dearing , VV . M . ; Kilvington , P . M . ; Simmonds , Jarvis , P . M . ; and A . H , Cole , S . W . The other toasts were " The Past Masters , " " The
Treasurer and Secretary , " and "The Officers , " and the Tyler's toast closed a very delightful evening . The vocal and musical entertainment was one of the very best and thoroughly enjoyed by all . The following took part : Bros . T . K . Porter , J . li . Guy , R . J . C . Cawse , C Gibbs , VV . J . Holmes ( recitation ) , G . Cranmer , J . R . Rutter , F . Butler , Mr . A . E . Spearpoint ; but special mention should be made of Bros . A . H . Cole and Bartlett ( recitation ) .
Corinthian Lodge ( No . 1382 ) . —The annual installation meeting was held at the George Hotel , Mill wall , on Wednesday , the 28 th ult ., when there were pre ent a large number of members and visitors . After the usual business of the lodge , including the raising of Bro J . Hastier and the initiation of Mr . Ouickly , the installation ceremony was worked by Bro . Millinaton , P . M ., and Bro . S . G . Bonner was installed .
The ollicers invested included Bros . J . Limn , l . P . M . ; F . Bassett , S . W . ; B . Barcham , J . W . ; R . Pitt , Treas . j A . Oakley , Sec ; E . Brindley , o . D . ; W . Greatorex , J . D . ; A . Flint , I . G . ; VV . Millington , D . C ; F . Kidd , Org . ; G . Parrett , H . Rogers , and T . Tildesley , Stwds . ; and Williams , Tyler . The report of the Audit Committee was received , after which the lodge was closed . At the banquet which followed , the W . M . proposed " The
Oucen and the Craft , " pointing out that her Majesty , l ' atrnness of the In-titution , was " a pa tern to all Princes living with her , and all that shall succeed . " In proposing - ' The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " the W . M . drew attention to the good work that had been done by the Grand Master for lb- Order . 'Ihe W . M ,, irr proposing "The Grand Ullicers , " said that he had had the pleasure of attending Grand Lodge
under the presidency of the M . W . Pro G At ., also the K . W . I ) . G . M ,, and again of the Grand Treasurer , who was present that evening ; of liro . terry he could say how much they appreciated his affability , wit and kindness . As Secretary of the R . M . B . I ., hi ! was ever ready to go "to the end of the world " to do a good act . Bro . Tijou , the
A . G . P ., was a representative ol the East-end of London in the Grand Lo- ' gc , and it was needless for him to extol his many virtues , or his aid at the Board of Benevolence . Bro . S . Cochrane , G . I Yeas ., in a short and well-timed speech , said how glad he was to see the W . M ., whom he had known for so many years , installed . He also thanked the brethren lor their hospitality and kindness .

Bro . J . Terry , P . G . S . B ., Sec . R . M . B . I ., in a witty and thoughtful speech , drew attention to the onerous duties oi the Grand . Officers , spoke of the " Old People , " and the need of remembering the genuine tenets of the Order . He closed by a reference to the good work the W . M . had done for the Charities . Bro . Tijou , A . G . P ., referred to his name of "Charity
tiger , " and said he iva = glad to be so called . If Bro . Cochrane represented all England , Bro . Terry represented the whole world , while' he represented the East-end of London . He had met the VV . M . many times , and it was only out of deep respect for him that he had missed the meeting of the Board of Benevolence to come that evening to the lodge . Bro . Limn , I . P . M ., next proposed "The W . M ., " f
whom he could say with truth that he was the right man in the right place . He could assure the brethren that the lodge would lose nothing of its dignity by placing so good a Mason in the chair . The W . M . said that he was very proud of his position . For 16 years he had been looking forward to such a dignity , and felt how great was his obligation to the brethren for
satisfying his ambition . He hoped that _ the lodge would " flourish as a green bay tree" during his year of office ; that love and harmony would prevail ; that none of the keenness of good fellowship would be lost , and that all would pull together in the sacred cause of Charity . In proposing " The Installing Master , '' " who urged the rest by equal steps to rise , " the W . M . pointed out the work
done by Bro . Millington , as Preceptor of the lodge of instruction . He had , at great ^ personal inconvenience , come that day to the meeting , and all were grateful for his kindness and encouragement . Bro . Millington , P . M ., thanked the brethren . He was proud of the W . M ., and was sure he would be an honour to the Craft . They must remember that unity is strength
and pull together to make the coming year of office a great pleasure to the W . M . They must remember that Charity one with another was one of the foundations of the Order . In pn posing " The Past Masters , " the W . M . said that " in the multitude of councillors there is wisdom . " Bro . Millington had already done his duty that evening , and he hoped that all the Past Masters would support him in the
coming year , rally round in the Corinthian Lodge , and make Freemasonry a reality on the "island . " Bro . Saunders , P . M ., said that although the P . M . ' s held no office , they must look after the welfare of the lodge , He was proud to have first placed the W . M . in office . Bros . Morrison , P . M ., and Limn , P . M . also responded . The W . M .. in toasting " The Visitors , " said :
Feast with the best , and welcome to my lodge . Let them want nothing that my house affords . " The visitors were many that evening , and he trusted they had seen that the Corinthian Lodge possessed the full knowledge of the genuine principles of the Order . In response , Bro . Making , P . M . 1278 , was glad that he had had the pleasure of initiating the W . M ., for he had
now an excellent knowledge of the ritual , Book of Constitutions , and routine of the lodge . He would have no difficulty in governing them , and they would have to emulate his example . He knew what Freemasonry should be , and his work in the past fully justified his promotion . Bro . Pulsford , P . M ., was delighted , as President of the East London Masonic Benevolent Association to see
the Secretary installed that evening . No brother worked harder nor better . Bros . Warner , Stwd . 1 259 , a"d Salter , W . M . 79 , also responded . The VV . M . proposed " The Initiate , " and Bro . Quickly
responded . The W . M . proposed " The Officers , " and the following responded : Bros . Pitt , Treas . ; Basset , S . VV . ; Barcham , J . W . ; Brindley , S . D . ; Greatorex , J . D . ; Flint , I . G . ; and Parrett , Rogers , and Tildesley , Stwds . After the Tyler ' s toast , the brethren dispersed well pleased with all they had seen and heard , including the music provided by Bro . E . Simmons .
Duke of Connaught Lodge ( No . 1524 ) . -A meeting of the above lodge was held at Anderton's Hotel , on the 29 th ult ., when there were present : Bros . P . M . Rogers , VV . M . j E . J . I ' urnbull , S . W . ; T . W . Oakley , J . W . j W . H . Brand , P . M ., Tress . ; C . LorUin , P . M ., Sec ; several Past Masters and about 50 brethren . Lodge was opened and minutes of last meeting confirmed , when
the ballot was taken for Bro . E . De Seef as a joining member , and Messrs . O . C . John and j . J . Elenbass , which , proving unanimous , they were duly initiated . A notice of motion by Bro . Burgess was then discussed , and it was resolved to set one night apart for the invitation of ladies , and the lodge was closed . At a barmuet which followed , aftec the usual loyal toasts
were responded to , the W . M . rose and said he had now a very pleasant duty to perform , which was to present to Bro . Brand , P . M ., a testimonial which had been subscribed to by the brethren of the lodge for his long and efficient services as Treasurer to the lodge , which had now entered upon his 15 th year . The presentation consisted of a silver five o ' clock tea set , and a gold Treasurer ' s'jewel ,
handsomely engraved . Bro . Brand , in response , expressed his high appreciation of the kind and thoughtful wishes of the brethren in considering his past services , and that what he had done in the past he trusted he would still continue to do in the future-His endeavours to do the utmost for his mother lodge , of which he was the . first initiate , would always be one of tne greatest pleasures he had in Freemasonry , and for the
kindness also of the brethren in thinking with the presentation of Mrs . Brand who he knew would receive this token ot respect with grateful heart . He begged most sincerely tj > thank them all for the generous appreciation of sue " services as he had been able to render . A few words from Bro . Lorkin , P . M ., closed this ver ) happy and gratifying presentation , in which all present heartily conjoined .
