Ashby and Jeffreys , to whom was extended a hearty welcome as joining members . Bro . Russell kindly offered his services as candidate , and was duly examined , entrusted , and retired . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and , on the candidate's

readmission , the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of passing in an able and highly commendable manner . An explanation of the tracing board was given in capital style by Bro . Dr . A . Ii . Barrett , and Bro . H . Sadler assisted the Preceptor in working the beautiful section of the Lecture—the six periods . The W . M . rose for the first time , when Bros . Jennings , Pigott , and Leigh were elected

as joining members . Bro . Imlay proposed in very fitting terms that a letter of condolence be sent from the lodge to Bro . Harvey , expressing the deep sympathy of the brethren with him at his severe loss in the death of his wife . The W . M . rose for the second time . Bro . J . T . Ashby was elected to occupy the chair at the next meeting . He appointed the officers to support him on that occasion and announced that the work would be the third ceremony

and the ist and 2 nd Sections of the First Lecture . When the VV . M . rose for the third time , Bro . Kirby proposed , and Bro . Sadler seconded , that a hearty vote of thanks from the lodge be extended to Bro . Baker on the first occasion of his occupying the chair for conducting the business in such a thoroughly efficient and praiseworthy manner . This vvas unanimously carried , and Bro . Baker acknowledged the compliment in pleasant and well chosen terms . All business being ended , the lodge was closed .

CAMDEN LODGE ( No . 704 ) - —A very instructive meeting was held on Thursday , the gth inst ., at the Lewisham Masonic Rooms , adjoining the White Hart Hotel , 116 , High-street , Lewisham , under the presidency of Bro . H . E . Joyce , P . M . 507 . In the course of the evening the lodge was opened in the Three Degrees , the ceremony of passing vvas fully rehearsed , and the major portion of the M . M .

Degree was excellently rendered . The several details of the work were fully explained and expounded by the Preceptor , Bro . James Stevens , and the interest taken therein vvas evinced by the extension of the customary closing for upwards of an hour beyond the usual time . A cordial vote of

thanks to Bro . Joyce for his able services in the chair was unanimously passed , and , in acknowledging the same , Bro . Joyce took occasion to pay a high compliment to Bro . Stevens for the valuable instruction he had afforded to himself and the members present . Bro . C . Thomas was elected W . M . for the ensuing week .

as joining members . Bro . Imlay proposed in very fitting terms that a letter of condolence be sent from the lodge to Bro . Harvey , expressing the deep sympathy of the brethren with him at his severe loss in the death of his wife . The W . M . rose for the second time . Bro . J . T . Ashby was elected to occupy the chair at the next meeting . He appointed the officers to support him on that occasion and announced that the work would be the third ceremony

and the ist and 2 nd Sections of the First Lecture . When the VV . M . rose for the third time , Bro . Kirby proposed , and Bro . Sadler seconded , that a hearty vote of thanks from the lodge be extended to Bro . Baker on the first occasion of his occupying the chair for conducting the business in such a thoroughly efficient and praiseworthy manner . This vvas unanimously carried , and Bro . Baker acknowledged the compliment in pleasant and well chosen terms . All business being ended , the lodge was closed .

CAMDEN LODGE ( No . 704 ) - —A very instructive meeting was held on Thursday , the gth inst ., at the Lewisham Masonic Rooms , adjoining the White Hart Hotel , 116 , High-street , Lewisham , under the presidency of Bro . H . E . Joyce , P . M . 507 . In the course of the evening the lodge was opened in the Three Degrees , the ceremony of passing vvas fully rehearsed , and the major portion of the M . M .

Degree was excellently rendered . The several details of the work were fully explained and expounded by the Preceptor , Bro . James Stevens , and the interest taken therein vvas evinced by the extension of the customary closing for upwards of an hour beyond the usual time . A cordial vote of

thanks to Bro . Joyce for his able services in the chair was unanimously passed , and , in acknowledging the same , Bro . Joyce took occasion to pay a high compliment to Bro .
