•INSTRUCTION . WOOLWICH . — Union Waterloo Lodge ( Nov 13 ) . —The annual festival of the above lodge was held < M Friday , the 3 rd of Decembor , at the Sir Robert Peel Tavern , Cicscent-road , Plumstead , B . o . B . Plaisted ' s . Bro . C . G . Dilley , P . M . 147 and 1155 , was in the chair , and up till recently the Preceptor of the lodge .

Among tbe company were Bros . Macdonald , S . W . 1158 , line present Preceptor ; Rose , P . M . 73 and 1475 ; Eownell , W . M . 15 ? ° and S . W . n ; Henderson , P . The dinner , which was both elegant and plentiful , gave unlimited satisfaction , and was

rmuch enjoyed . Upon the cloth being removed , the chairman gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , which , it 5 « needless to say , were well received and enthusiastically mesponded to . In proposing " The Union Waterloo Lodge itif JnstaKiAioii , " the chairman said that Lodges of Instruction were not so well attended as they should be . Many rMasons thought that as soon as they had taken the three

iilegrces that they had learnt all that Masonry had to tteach , but never was there a greater mistake made ; take tlae regular monthly meetings of most regular lodges , and tthcy did not extend above six times a year , and in those llodres the whole of the work was seldom carried ' out , ' but iiuiths Lodges of Instruction there wasalways the'diligent aodicarnest Preceptor weekly at his post to go through

and > t » . ch the beautiful ceremonies of the Craft to all who desiroSito be taught them . He then spoke of the difficulties atW-ding the exertions of the Preceptors , and concluded ran eloquent address by proposing " Continued Success to ithe Union Waterloo Lodge of Instruction . " " The Health . of Bro .: I ) U 1 cy " was then proposed by the Preceptor , Bro . NMacdonald . tn glowing terms . Bro . Dilley , in reply , spoke

¦ of . his long and earnest love and work for Freemasonry , rand owned he bad had his reward in the many pupils of this that were now shining lights in their particular lodges . iHe felt proud of them , and their distinction was all the irewacil looked to by him ; and he trusted they in theit iturn would do good work in teaching young Masons the ibeautiful and impressive mysteries of the Craft . I Ie

explained tbat having to enter a new line of business at Roaherhithe had compelled him to give up the Preceptorship < of . the lodge ., and he left them with every confidence in the lhands of Bro . Macdonald . He spoke of the difficulties attending even rhis getting from Rotherhithe that night (( . which place . he declared was the last invented ) , and cauitioned them first-to look to business and then Freemasonry ; * £ »•a man who neglected his business for Freemasonry

* ras not a good Mason . It is impossible in our limited ») pace to do justice -to : Bro . JJilley ' s excellent remarks , but rthey were cheered by the brethren most enthusiastically , anil . upon his retiring shortly after he received quite an ovation . " The Officers of-the'Lodge , Bros . Macdonald , Preo ^ ptor ; Reilly and Syer , Sees . ; and S . Goddard , Treas . " were th « n honoured ; and Bro . Reilly gave the following results . of . their first year : —Number of members , in ; 3

Red Cross , the ceremony being ably conducted by Sir Knt . Partridge , as M P . S ., assisted by the other officers .

JJilley ' s excellent remarks , but rthey were cheered by the brethren most enthusiastically , anil . upon his retiring shortly after he received quite an ovation .
