D . 355 , which was unanimous , and they were duly exalted by the M . E . Z ., assisted by his officers , to the Supreme Degree of a R . A . M . The sum of £ 5 5 s . was voted by the chapter , to be placed on the list of Comp . J . C . Maclean , P . Z . 355 , P . P . G . P . S ., who has

undertaken the duties of Steward for the province during the present year , which was afterwards supplemented by an additional sum of £ 553 . to endow the chair of Z . Letters of apology were read by the S . E . from Comps . Earl Cowley , W . I-I . Long , M . P ., and others , regretting their inability to be present . The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned in harmony to an installation banquet at the Goddard Arms Hotel , ' and a pleasant evening was spent .

HAVANT . —Carnarvon Chapter ( No . 804 ) . — The annual meeting of this chapter was held at the Masonic Hall , on Tuesday , the 16 th instant , when there were present Comps . | . A . Brickwood , J . VVilmott , Lind , Str ' tck , Rev . Kendell , and Woodrow . The chapter was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last Convocation were read and confirmed . Companion Elverston then installed the principals in a most able and impressive manner as follows : —Comps . Dart , Z . j Askew , II . ; Price , J . The following officers were

After adopting the audit report a vote of thanks wis unanimously recorded to the Installing Principal , Comp . Elverston for the very able manner in carrying out the duties . After Comp . Elverston returned thanks the chapter

was closed in due solemn form . The companions then adjourned to the Dolphin Hotel , when a remarkable good dinner was served in the usual well-known style by Comp . Parnell . The usual Royal Arch toasts were duly honoured . Comp . Askew proposed " The Health of the Provincial Grand Superintendent , and Officers Present and Past . "

Comp . Dart , P . G . Swd . Br ., responded for the present officers , and Comps . Brickwood and Willmott for the past officers . The former congratulated Comp . Dart on being appointed to Prov . oflice , and thought that the Grand Superintendent had made a wise selection . Comp . Elverston , in proposing " The Health of the First Principal , " gave a retrospect of the past year , and

congratulated the chapter in selecting such an energetic Mason for its head . He felt sure the Carnarvon Chapter in the ensuing year would not fail to prosper , for he had known Comp . Askew for many years and a better Mason there could not be . Comp . Dart proposed "The Health of the Installing Principal , " eulogising him as a great and shining light in

the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight . Comp . Price proposed "The Principals of . S 04 , " and Comp . Hillman responded . Comp . Birch proposed "The Visitors , " and Comps . the Rev . Kendell , Lind , and Strick responded . Comp . Dart , in proposing "The Oflicers , " hoped they

would have energy painted on their brow , for they would have to work hard , as they would have plenty to do during the year . He hoped the Carnarvon Chapter would be second to none in thc province . Comps . Askew and Birch responded . A most pleasant evening was spent , with harmony intervening the speeches .

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE YORK COLLEGE . The annual obligatory meeting of the members of this college took place on Saturday , the 20 th inst ., in the Freemasons' Hall , St . Saviour-gate , York , which had been courteously lent for the purpose by the trustees of the Eboracum Lodge . Thelodge room was admii ably suited

for the purpose , and its appearance was most effective when prepared for the ceremonies . The members of the college present included Fratres T . B . Whytehead , Hon . J . M . Meek , V ., was re-elected Treasurer of the college , and read his audited report for the past year , showing a substantial balance in hand . It was resolved that in future the transactions of the college should be published for the use of the members in the form of a quarterly journal . Congratulatory letters and telegrams were read from

several members of the Order , including Fras . VV . J . Hughan , IX . ( Torquay ); G . P . Brockbank , Hon . IX ., Chief Adept of Lancashire ; J . S . Cumberland , Hon . VIM . ; and others ; and it was resolved to hold the next meting at York on thc 3 rd VVednesday in May , when airangements will be made tor the members to visit some of the special places and objects of interest in the city . It

had been announced that Era . R . VV . Moore would read a paper upon the Runic Stone in Leeds Parish Church , and in his absence Fra . T . J . Wilkinson , whose literary scivices to the college have been very great , volunteered to read a paper , which , however , was deferred , owing to the lateness of the evening , until the next gathering . address . congratulated the chapter in selecting such an energetic Mason for its head . He felt sure the Carnarvon Chapter in the ensuing year would not fail to prosper , for he had known Comp . Askew for many years and a better Mason there could not be . Comp . Dart proposed "The Health of the Installing Principal , " eulogising him as a great and shining light in

the Province of Hampshire and Isle of Wight . Comp . Price proposed "The Principals of . S 04 , " and Comp . Hillman responded . Comp . Birch proposed "The Visitors , " and Comps . the Rev . Kendell , Lind , and Strick responded . Comp . Dart , in proposing "The Oflicers , " hoped they
