The recommendations were put and agreed to , on the motion of Bros . Smith , Udall , and Savage , seconded by Bro . Perkins . In support of tho latter recommendation , Bro . Savage said Bro . Dixoii had been a Master for upiA-ards of thirty-six years , five times W . M . and Prov . G . Treas . for Yorkshire . The motion was seconded hy the Right Hon . the Earl De Grey and Ripon AVIIO took occasion to advert to the many Masonic virtues of Bro . Dixon , and the motion was carried unanimously .
THE BOABD OP GENERAL PUBPOSES . The report of the Board of General Purposes was presented , and it was as follows -. — 1 . A complaint was preferred by the Lodge of Benevolence against the Gihon Lodge , No . 4-9 , London , for having certified to the petition of a ividow for relief that the late husband of the petitioner , a member of the lodge , had been a subscribing
member for two years , whereas Grand Lodge dues had been paid for him for one year only . The Master and Wardens Avith the Treasurer and Secretary attended , and produced the Avarrant and books , and admitted that they had made a mistake in their return to Grand Lodge , by having omitted to return the name of the brother for the second year , and that the lodge had received the Grand Lodge dues for such second year , and expressed thoir rcavot .
