The annual meeting of tbe Provincial Grand Lodge for AVest Yorkshire was held in the Masonic Hall , South Parade , Dewsbury , on AVeduesday , the 13 th instant , the Right Hon . the Earl of Mexborough , Provincial Grand Master , being present . The Lodge ivas opened in the the three degrees by the AV . M . and officers of the Huddersfield Lodge , No . 365 , soon after which the Provincial Grand Officers enteredand the Provincial Grand LodAvas opened bthe RAVBroGeorge

During the proceedings there were between eighty and ninety brethren from different parts of tbe province present , Amongst the past and present Provincial Grand Office rs were Bro . the Earl of Mexborough , R . W . Prov . G . M . ; Fearnley , P . Prov . S . G . AA ' ., D . Prov . G . M . ; Rev . Jcssph Senior ; Rev . A . F . A . AA ' oodford ; William Dixon , Prov . G . Treas . ; Bentley Shaw ; AA'illiam H . Bailes ; R . Ii NelsonProv . G . Sec . ; GaXh ; Peace ; H . Baines

The minutes of the meeting held afc DeAi'sbury , hi January' last , Avere read and confirmed ; these ivere principally in reference to the Masonic charities , especially calling upou the Yorkshire Lodges and brethren to give additianal aid to the Boys' School ; at that meeting it was stated that Bros . Bentley Shaiv , P . Prov . S . G . AV ., and Joseph Batley , P . M ., had consented to act as SteAvards for the Boys

Institution tbis year . The first business to be transacted on this occasion Avas respecting motions made by Bro . Nelson , the Prov . G . Sec , and the Rev . A . F . A . Woodford , Prov . G . Chaplain , and ivhich having been deferred at the last meeting , ivere UOAV to be brought foi-AA-ard as one motion . The motion , as noiv put by Bro . Nelson , Avas to the effect that one brother from each Lodge in the AVest Riding should be appointed to form a committee to conduct matters in connexion with the four Masonic charities . Afc the same time it ivas understood that it should not be

necessary , nor even always desirable , that the person selected by each Lodge should be the AV . M . or P . M . thereof . The proposition having been seconded by Bro . AVoodford , Avas carried , Some petitions for relief w'ore read , and various sums granted on behalf of the applieauts . Bro . Dixou ivas re-elected as Treasurer , aud complimented by the D . Prov . G . M . for his zealous and indefatigable perseverance on behalf of the Provincial Grand Lodge . Bro . Dixon returned thanks , and expressed his Avillingness again to

undertake the duties of Treasurer . The thanks of the brethren ivere also voted to Bros . Shaiv and Batley , for their kindly undertaking the duties of anniversary Steii'ards . The D . Prov . G . M . read a list of the sums received for the Boys School , headed by the sum of one hundred pounds from the Prov . Grand Lodge of AVest Yorkshire ; the total sum subscribed in the province amounting to about four hundred pounds for that noble institution . Soon after the Earl of Mexborough had taken his seatthe neivlappointed
