HENGIST LODGE , No . 195 . THE installation took place on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Bournemouth , of Bro . F . Mapp , the ceremony being conducted by the retiring W . M . Bro . W . Humphry who , at the close of the ceremony , was presented with a Past Master's jewel and the thanks of the Lodge for his
. The Brethren subsequently proceeded to the Grand Hotel , where a highclass banquet was held , and the usual toasts were honoured . Many Past and Provincial Officers and members of neighbouring Lodges were present .
HARMONIC LODGE , No . 252 . ON Tuesday , 7 th inst ., the Brethren had their annual festival , when a large number of members of the Lodge and visitors attended . Bro . J . Sidaway was installed W . M . by Bro . Down .
NELSON OF THE NILE LODGE , No . 264 . ON Monday , 30 th ult ., the installation took place at the Masonic Hall , Park Road , Batley , in the presence of a large assembly of members and visitors . The ceremony was performed by Bro . Charles Newsome P . M ., by whom Bro . F . W . Akeroyd was elevated to the chair , in succession to Bro . Thos . Western .
The festival of St . John was celebrated , and the usual Masonic and other toasts honoured .
BEDFORD LODGE , No . 282 . THE annual meeting was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Tavistock , on Wednesday , 1 st inst ., when Bro . H . Skinner was installed Worshipful Master .
The banquet was admirably served at the Bedford Hotel by Brother J . Squires . The usual toasts were honoured , and were interspersed with songs . A handsome pair of table spoons were presented to the retiring W . M ., in recognition of his valued services during his Mastership .
AMITY LODGE , No . 283 . THE annual installation was held at the Grey Mare Hotel , Haslingden , on Thursday , 26 th ult ., when there was a good attendance of members and visitors . The installation of Brother Jonas Southerst was efficiently performed by Bro . E . Freeman P . M .
Bro . Hamer P . M ., on behalf of the Lodge , presented Bro . E . Schofield the retiring W . M ., with a handsome gold Past Master ' s jewel , and in doing so alluded in highly appreciative terms to the valuable services which Bro .
< Schofield had rendered to the Lodge and the Craft in general , especially during his year of office as W . M . Bro . Schofield , he said , had conducted the affairs of the Lodge in a truly Masonic manner , and the Brethren were greatly indebted to him for what he had done .
Bro . Schofield suitably returned thanks , and said it would always be a pleasure to him to do what he could to promote the interests of Freemasonry in general , and of the Amity Lodge in particular . In conclusion he expressed a fervent hope that his successor in the chair would have a happy and successful year of office .
On the motion of the W . M ., a hearty vote oi thanks was given to Bro . Freeman for the able manner in which he had performed the installation ceremony , and Bro . Freeman briefly acknowledged the compliment .
CONSTITUTIONAL LODGE , No . 294 . ON Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at Beverley , Bro . Robert Pape was installed Worshipful Master , the ceremony being performed by Bros . Tom Turner and M . M . Westerby .
COMBERMERE LODGE OF UNION , No . 295 . THE festival of St . John the Evangelist was celebrated on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at Macclesfield , there being a large attendance . By special dispensation from the Provincial Grand Master Lord Egerton of Tatton the Lodge was held in the Town Hall , the business commencing at 3 o ' clock under the presidency of the retiring W . M . Bro . J . I . Brunt .
The installation of Bro . Walter Brown S . W . P . P . G . S . was impressively conducted by Bro . Thomas Lockitt P . M . and Treasurer P . P . S . G . D ., and Bro . John H . Brookes P . M . and Secretary P . P . A . G . Secretary .
The newly-installed Worshipful Master having taken the chair , amid the congratulations of the Brethren—for there is no more deservedly popular Brother in the Craft—he appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year .
The annual banquet took place in the evening in the Lodge Room , at the Macclesfield Arms Hotel , the newly-elected W . M . presiding . The menu included , as usual , a fine haunch of venison ( kindly sent by Sir William C . Brooks , Bart ., from the Forest of Glen Tana ) .
TRUE AND FAITHFUL LODGE , No . 318 . AT Helston , on the 2 nd inst ., Bro . Hugh Stephens was installed as W . M . in a very impressive manner by Bro . A . E . Ratclifie P . P . G . Heg ., assisted by Bro . J . M . Richards P . Prov . G . O ., and supported by several installed Masters . A banquet at the Angel Hotel followed .
LOYALTY LODGE , No . 320 . fTlHE annual festival of St . John was celebrated at the Junction Inn , JL Mottram , on Thursday , 26 th ult . In the old days of Freemasonry the annual meeting was held on Christmas Day , when the members of the Craft attended divine worship at
church in the morniug , met for business in the afternoon , and held a social gathering in the evening . This year they met on Bank Holiday , which resulted iu a very large attendance , forty-six members being present . In the absence of Bro . W . Hampshire W . M ., through illness , tho Lodge

was opened by the eldest Past Master present Bro . W . S . Hadfield , and the regular Officers . Tho usual routine business of the Lodge having been transacted , Bro . J . E . Steward Prov . G . Oificer , with the assistance of the Past Masters , proceeded to instal Bro . F . Oartwright as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year .
On the motion of Bro . Wagstaffe , it was decided to again present a donation—twenty guineas—to the charities of the Province . It was intended to present a Past Master ' s gold jewel to the outgoing W . M . Bro . Hampshire for his services during the year , but owing to his illness the presentation had to be deferred to a subsequent meeting .
The Lodge was closed in the usual manner , when the Brethren sat down and did full justice to a sumptuous banquet , provided in excellent style by the host of the house , Mr . Arthur Wadsworth , and the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .
VITRUVIAN LODGE , No . 338 .
THE annual festival was celebrated at Ross , on Monday , 6 th inst . In consequence of the banquet to be held subsequently at the Royal Hotel , a dispensation was obtained from the P . G . M . Sir J . R . Bailey , Bart ., for the holding of the Lodge in the Town Hall . The ceremony in connection with the installation of Bro . Dr . A . Outfield as W . M . was performed by Bro . J . E . S . Hewett P . M . P . Z . P . P . S . G . W ., in his usual efficient manner .
The usual business of the Lodge having been completed , the Brethren adjourned to the Royal Hotel , where a banquet awaited them . The chair was taken by the W . M ., and the vice-chair by Bro . F . Cooper S . W . A very pleasing part of the proceedings consisted in the presentation by the W . M . on behalf of the Lodge of a P . M . jewel to the Immediate P . M . Bro . W . F . Marvin .
DORIC LODGE , No . 362 . THE annual installation was held on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Masonic Chambers , St . Peter's Hill , Grantham , Brother James Raynor ( Nottingham ) being installed W . M . by Bro . Captain B . H . Russell P . P . A . D . C . Bro . T . Jackson was invested for the 37 th year as Tyler .
The annual banquet was afterwards held at the George Hotel , when there was a good attendance , guests being present from Lincoln , Sleaford , Peterborough , Bourne , Market Rasen , Nottingham , the Capo i > f Good Hope , and New Zealand Lodges .

Knight , assisted by Bros . Dron and Parsons . In the evening a banquet was held in the hall , Bro . Bilham , of the King ' s Arms Hotel , being the caterer , and the usual list of Masonic toasts were gone through .
ROYAL NAVY LODGE , No . 429 . THE installation took place at the Royal Hotel , Ramsgate , on Wednesday , 1 st inst ., when a large number of Brethren were present . The W . M .-elect Bro . A . Page was installed into the chair by Bro . H . J . Sturgeon . A Past Master ' s jewel was presented to the I . P . M . Brother J . Neale .
Afterwards the Brethren adjourned to a banquet , which was ably served by Bro . Roach . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were given , interspersed with songs by Bros . Fred Everill , Stanley , Dixson , Sturgeon , and Neale .
THREE GRAND PRINCIPLES LODGE , No . 441 . THE installation meeting _ was held on Monday , 6 th inst ., at the Lion Hotel , Petty Cury , Cambridge , and was largely attended by Brethren of the town and district , a number of visitors from a distance being also present .
The outgoing W . M . Bro . James Catling installed his successor Bro . W . R . Roper , M . D .
ST . JAMES LODGE , No . 448 . THE Brethren celebrated their annual festival at the Freemasons' Hall , St . John ' s Place , Halifax , on Tuesday , 31 st ult ., when Bro . W . S . Milligan was installed Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , the ceremony being performed by Bros . Thomas Robertshaw the retiring W . M ., Alfred Robertshaw P . M ., and C . T . Rhodes P . M . P . P . G . D .
At the close of the ceremony Bro . W . F . Wilkinson P . M . presented to Bro . Thomas Robertshaw a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel , as a token of respect from the Brethren , and appreciation for the very efficient way he had discharged the duties of his office as W . M . during the past year . Bro . T . Robertshaw acknowledged the gift , and returned thanks to the Brethren for such a proof of their recognition of his services .
The Brethren then adjourned to the dining hall , where the usual installation banquet took place , Mr . and Mrs . Hind being the caterers , and providing a first-class menu , which gave every satisfaction . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , as also the Mayor
