Strong Man Lodge of Instruction , No . 45 . —Held its weekly meeting , at the Old Rodney ' s Head , 12 Old-street , Goswellroad , on Monday , the Sth inst . The following brethren were present : —Bros . Trewinnard W . M ., Renshaw J . W ., Tolmie Preceptor , Fenner Sec , Kidder S . D ., Powell J . D ., Thomas I . G ., Christopher Tyler , also Bros . Crawley , Wing , Stock , Pearcy . Cook , Hunter , Parkinson , Sim .

monds , Leber , Isaac , Killick , Millward , E . Souhami , and Dyer . The nsnal preliminaries were duly observed . Minutes read and confirmed . Bro . Stock answered the necessary questions , and was entrusted . Lodgo was advanced to the second dejrree , when tho W . M . rehearsed tho ceremony of passing in an admirable manner , Bro . Stock heiner candidate . The Preceptor worked tho first , second and third sections of

tho lecture , assisted by the brethren ; the fourth by Bro . Renshaw , and the fifth by the brethren . Lodgo was resumed to first degree , when Bros . E . Souhami , of Stockwell Lodgo 1339 , and Dyer , of Highgate Lodge 1366 , were elected members . Bro . Renshaw was elected to fill tho office of W . M . next Monday evening . Lodge was then closed and adjourned .

St . John ' s Lodge , No . 167 . —This Lodcro held its installation meeting on Tuesday , the 9 th inst ., at the Holly Bush Tavern , Hampstead . Present—Bros . John Eldridge W . M ., Rowe S . W ., Yeomana J . W ., J . R . Thomson Secretary , H . Cornick Treasurer . C . A . Muller S . D ., Steedman Tyler ; P . M . ' s Bros . Jackson , Adams , Pritchard , & c , and a large number of visitors . The business of the evening conaisted of the installation of tho W . M . ( Bro . Rowe ) and the appointment of the officers .

St . James ' s Union Lodge , No . 180 . —The first regular meeting of this Lodge was held on Tuesday , the 9 th instant , at Free , masons' Tavern , Great Queen-street . Bro . L . Annett W . M ., Pellin S . W ., E . Farwig as J . W ., G . Bubb P . M . Treas ., H . A . Stacey Sec , Stollard J . D ., C . Wade I . G ., J . Wood D . C , E . Hart Organist , Gilbert Tyler : P . M . ' s Bros . Cameron , J . R . Stacey , W . C . Parsons , Robinson ,

L . Herf ; and Bros . Slade , Woodrow , Bayley , Hussey , Fletcher , Green , Symons , Kent , Levitt , Pinto Leite , W . Sharpe , & c . The Lodgo was opened , and the minutes were confirmed . A ballot was taken for the admission of Mr . T . E . Miles , who was duly initiated into the Order . Bro . Jenkins was passed to the second degree , the ceremonies being perfectly and impressively rendered . The resignation of a brother

was accepted , with regret .. Bro . W . C . Parsons , in pursuance of notice , then proposed , and Bro . G . Bubb seconded , that the initiation fee in future be twelve guineas , and thejoining fee six guineas . An amendment was made , to increase the initiation fee to fifteen guineas , and thejoining fee to eight guineas . The original motion was , however , carried . Bro . W . C . Parsons P . M . solicited votes for tho boys'

election on behalf of the candidate Cox , this being his last application . A gentleman was then proposed for initiation , and the Lodge was closed . The brethren , sixty-two in number , adjourned to the Crown room , which has been beautifully decorated , and partook of a sumptuous banquet and dessert , provided by Bro . A . Best , and superintended by Bro . E . Dawkins , the manager . The wines and viands

showed a marked improvement , and satisfaction was expressed with the new caterers . The W . M . proposed the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . Bro . W . C . Parsons P . M . announced that the amount subscribed by the brethren to the Benevolent Fnnd was satisfactory . Bro . W . C . Parsons then rose . It was a pleasure for any member to propose the toast of the W . M . During his year of office everything

had been done well ; he had risen from the humblest office , and he had reaped his reward . We all congratulate him on his occupation of the chair . The W . M . said he could hardly find words to express his obligation to the brethren . All his energies would be devoted to their interest . He then proposed the toast of the newly-initiated brother : he is a son of an old and esteemed member who has

been associated with the Lodge for the last twenty . five years , and he was sure he would follow in the footsteps of so worthy a parent . Bro . Miles said if he only followed in the footsteps of his worthy father , he was sure he would be all that was required of him in Masonry . The Visitors were then duly honoured , and the toast was replied to by Bro . Warner Sleigh . The W . M . theu remarked his next was a very

important toast—the Past Masters . He mentioned their names seriatim . Tbe world , in Freemasonry , had seen their able working , and had profited by their able instruction . Bro . W . C . Parsons said there were older P . M . ' s than he present , and he felt he could hardly do justice to the toast ; it was an honour to respond to it ; they all hoped to be present for many years to come . The health of

the Treasurer and Secretary was tho next , and this brought forth replies from Bros . Bubb and Stacey , and after the Officers had received full recognition , the Tyler was called . York Lodge , No , 236 . —The brethren of the York Lodge No . 236 , to whom a Centenary Warrant has just been granted , contemplate celebrating the completion of their hundredth year of txistence by a grand banquet , in their Masonio Hall , York , to which

Huggins acting as candidate . Lodge was opened to tho third degree , and regularly closed down ; the brethren wero then called from labour to refreshment , and afterwards resumed Masonic duties . The W . M . worked the second , third , and fonrth sections of tho lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bros . Stevenson of 152-1 , and Johnson 860 wero elected members ; Bro . Dallas was elected Secretary , and Bro . Brown W . M . for the ensuing week .

Eowley Lodge , No . 1051 . —The regular meeting of the Rowley Lodge was held at the Masonio Rooms , Athenumm , Lancaster , on Monday the 1 st inst . There were present Bros . T . Jackson W . M ., Helme S . W ., A . Sherriff J . W ., J . Daniel Moore M . D . P . G . S . B . of England , J . T . Jackson J . D . and others . After the preliminary business

had been transacted , Bro . Dr . Moore delivered a short lecture , " On the Ethics of Freemasonry , " briefly touching npon all the more salient points connected with that snbject . On the rroposition of the S . W ., a hearty vote of thanks was awarded to Bro . Moore , accompanied by the request that he would favour the Lodge with another short lecture at the next meeting .

Capper Lodge , No . 1076 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Thursday , the 11 th instant , at the Marine Hotel , Victoria Decks . Present—Bros . John Dorton W . M ., John White S . W ., F . Brien J . W ., Brayshaw P . M . Treasurer , M'Carthy S . D ., Tapley J . D ., Mitchell D . C , Corkey Steward , Job I . G ., T . G . Day , I . P . M ., and several members . Business—The Lodgo having been formally opened , and the preliminaries disposed of . Bro . Colson was asked the

usual questions , and retired . Lodge advanced to the second degree , and Bro . Colson passed . The next business before the Lodge was the election of W . M . for the ensuing year ; it resulted in favonr of the S . W . John White . Bro . P . M . Brayshaw was re-elected aa Treasurer . Bro . P . M . Holliday was chosen as President of the Lodge Benevolent Fund . The Audit Committee and Tyler were re-elected , and business being ended the Lodge was closed , the brethren adjourning to refreshment .

TTpton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 . —Held its meeting , as usual , at Bros . Bolton and Lane ' s , King and Queen , Norton Folgate , on Friday , the 5 th instant . There were present Bros . Hine W . M ., Crouch S . W ., Smith J . W ., A . W . Fenner Preceptor , Townsend Sec , Tatten S . D ., Sitnmonds J . D ., Lane I . G ., also Bros . Bolton , Campbell , Pearcy , & c . The usual forms having been complied with ,

the minutes were read and confirmed . The W . M . then rehearsed tbe ceremony of initiation , Bro . Campbell acting as candidate . The first , second , third aud fourth sections of tho lecture were worked by Bro . Fenner , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Crouch was duly elected . W . M . for the ensuing week . In proposing a vote of thanks ( which

was afterwards carried unanimously ) to the W . M ., for his conduct of the business for tho first time , the Preceptor took the opportunity of congratulating him on the manner in which he had rehearsed the ceremony , observing it augured well for the future . Lodge was then closed in due form , and the meeting adjourned until next Frid iy evening at 8 p . m .

Duke of Connaught Lodge , No . 1524 . —The annual dinner of the members and friends of this Lodge , which is fast becoming one of tho most popular Lodges of Instruction in Hackney , was celebrated on Wednesday evening , at Bro . G . Ferrar's , the Havelock Tavern , Albion-road . To the credit of Bro . Ferrar be it said , that ever since he became proprietor of the Havelock Tavern he

has spared neither pains nor expense to minister to the comfort and convenience of the brethren . Finding that his principal room lay in the proper direction for a Freemasons' Lodge , he delermined to make it worthy of the noble Craft , and at bis suggestion Bro . F . H . Becnseu designed , and carried out most artistically , tho decoration ,

in such a style , that though to a good working Mason every panel and symbol is pregnant with meaning , yet nothing is disclosed to the popular world . The walls of the room aro excellently done in distemper , and Bro . Beensen , the artist , has shown both skill , taste , and judgment by his mode of treatment . The room being a long one , ha hag foreshortened it by dividing tho walls into irregular panels , tho

On the rroposition of the S . W ., a hearty vote of thanks was awarded to Bro . Moore , accompanied by the request that he would favour the Lodge with another short lecture at the next meeting .

Capper Lodge , No . 1076 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Thursday , the 11 th instant , at the Marine Hotel , Victoria Decks . Present—Bros . John Dorton W . M ., John White S . W ., F . Brien J . W ., Brayshaw P . M . Treasurer , M'Carthy S . D ., Tapley J . D ., Mitchell D . C , Corkey Steward , Job I . G ., T . G . Day , I . P . M ., and several members . Business—The Lodgo having been formally opened , and the preliminaries disposed of . Bro . Colson was asked the

usual questions , and retired . Lodge advanced to the second degree , and Bro . Colson passed . The next business before the Lodge was the election of W . M . for the ensuing year ; it resulted in favonr of the S . W . John White . Bro . P . M . Brayshaw was re-elected aa Treasurer . Bro . P . M . Holliday was chosen as President of the Lodge Benevolent Fund . The Audit Committee and Tyler were re-elected , and business being ended the Lodge was closed , the brethren adjourning to refreshment .

TTpton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 . —Held its meeting , as usual , at Bros . Bolton and Lane ' s , King and Queen , Norton Folgate , on Friday , the 5 th instant . There were present Bros . Hine W . M ., Crouch S . W ., Smith J . W ., A . W . Fenner Preceptor , Townsend Sec , Tatten S . D ., Sitnmonds J . D ., Lane I . G ., also Bros . Bolton , Campbell , Pearcy , & c . The usual forms having been complied with ,

the minutes were read and confirmed . The W . M . then rehearsed tbe ceremony of initiation , Bro . Campbell acting as candidate . The first , second , third aud fourth sections of tho lecture were worked by Bro . Fenner , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Crouch was duly elected . W . M . for the ensuing week . In proposing a vote of thanks ( which

was afterwards carried unanimously ) to the W . M ., for his conduct of the business for tho first time , the Preceptor took the opportunity of congratulating him on the manner in which he had rehearsed the ceremony , observing it augured well for the future . Lodge was then closed in due form , and the meeting adjourned until next Frid iy evening at 8 p . m .

Duke of Connaught Lodge , No . 1524 . —The annual dinner of the members and friends of this Lodge , which is fast becoming one of tho most popular Lodges of Instruction in Hackney , was celebrated on Wednesday evening , at Bro . G . Ferrar's , the Havelock Tavern , Albion-road . To the credit of Bro . Ferrar be it said , that ever since he became proprietor of the Havelock Tavern he

has spared neither pains nor expense to minister to the comfort and convenience of the brethren . Finding that his principal room lay in the proper direction for a Freemasons' Lodge , he delermined to make it worthy of the noble Craft , and at bis suggestion Bro . F . H . Becnseu designed , and carried out most artistically , tho decoration ,

in such a style , that though to a good working Mason every panel and symbol is pregnant with meaning , yet nothing is disclosed to the popular world . The walls of the room aro excellently done in distemper , and Bro . Beensen , the artist , has shown both skill , taste , and judgment by his mode of treatment . The room being a long one , ha hag foreshortened it by dividing tho walls into irregular panels , tho
