G ., Fieldwick Preceptor , Ernest Dietrich Secretary , George Ferrar Treasurer , Bonner , Poak , George , Lowe , Little , Hill , Taylor , Delafosse , Maples , McMillan , Marsh , Chapman , Lee , Dubrick ,

Beonsen , W . G . Kent , Finch , W . Farrar . R . Olley , C Olley , W . H . Robinson , and a number of brethren . The Lodgo having been dnly opened in the first , and the sections worked , the brethren adjourned to the banquet-room , where full justice was dono to the excellent ropasb set before them . The usual Loyal , patriotic , and Masonio

toasts were given , and duly responded to . In proposing the continued success and prosperity of the Duke of Connaught Lodge of Instruction , tho W . M . highly complimented the officers for their excellent working , and especially Bros . Preceptor Fieldwick and Secretary Dietrich for tho efficient manner in which they had performed the duties pertaining to their respective offices .

Legiolium Lodge , No . 1542 , Castleford . —Celebrated its annual installation meeting on Monday afternoon last , in the presence of a largo gathering of influential and distinguished brethren , amongst whom were the D . P . G . M . of West Yorkshire , Bro . T . W . Tew J . P ., the P . G . Secretary , Bro . Henry Smith , and several

other P . G . Officers . Bro . Richard Cliffe was duly installed aa W . M . for the enaning year , after which the brethren proceeded to Normanton , to partake of the banquet prepared by Mr . Clarke , manager for Messrs . Spiera and Pond , in their now and elegantly fitted up platform dining-room .

Morecombe Lodge , No . 1561 . —Tho regular meeting of this'Lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Edward-street , Morecombe , on Friday , Sth October . There wore present Bros . Wm . Dnff W . M ., Dr . Moore P . G . S . B . England as I . P . M ., E . Cardwell as S . W ., W . Longmore J . W ., W . Stephenson Sec , Bingham as S . D ., Wilde J . D ., W . H . Johnstone Prov . G . J . D . and a large number of brethren . After the usual business had been transacted , a vote of congratulation waa

unanimously given to Bro . Captain Garnett on his recent appoint , ment to the office of Prov . G . S . W . of West Lancashire . A handsome silver Hall-marked square and compass were presented to the Lodge by Bro . H . Longman P . M ., to whom the thanks of tho Lodge was given . The W . M . then called upon Bro . Dr . Moore to deliver a lecture , as announced , " On . the duties and privileges of the Master ' s Chair , " which was listented to with great attention by tho brethren , and a hearty vote of thanks awarded to the lecturer at its close .

Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . —At the regular meeting of this Lodge on Monday last , there was a large attendance of members and visitors , the occasion being the election of Master and Treasurer for the ensuing year . Tho unanimous choice of the Lodge fell upon Bro . T . B . Whytehead as W . M ., and Bro . G . Balmford P . M . was nnanimouslv re-elected Treasurer . Bro . Paul Pearson was

reelected Tyler . The after proceedings were of a very pleasant character , and were enlivened by the singing of Bro . J . S . Cumberland S . W . and other brethren . One of the brethren , in replying to tho toast of tbe Visitors , remarked that he had visited many Lodges , but there were two things about the Eboracum Lodge

that had struck him most forcibly ; one was the perfect working of the Lodge , not only on the part of the W . M . and Officers , but in the delivery of the charges , and minor details , no hitch being at all apparent ; the other was the unanimity and genuine fraternal feeling evidently existing , and exhibited both during Lodge hours and at refreshment ; in fact the Lodge seemed to bo as ono man .

Handyside Lodge , No . 1618 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Monday , the Sth inst ., at Saltburn-by-the-Sea . Present —Bros . D . W . Dixon W . M ., Simpson S . W ., A . H . Moss ( Secretary ) acting as J . W ., G . Taylor S . D ., Joseph Taylor J . D ., Adamson Ste . ward , Carruthers I . G ., Deighton Tyler ; P . M . Bro . Charles Moore 1244 and 1618 . Visitors—Bros . J . M . Collier 1511 , Thomas Allen

561 , J . W . Badcock 1230 . Business—Lodge opened in first degree , and minutes were read and confirmed . Bro . Prat 561 having been proposed at a regular meeting , was balloted for and elected ; also Messrs . George Lee and Edwin Damon . The ceremony of initiating Mr . H . J . Webster was then most ably performed by the W . M ., Bro .

Simpson giving tho charge . After several communications from the Secretary , the Lodge adjourned for refreshment , and a most enjoyable evening was spent . ( This Lodge was consecrated on 3 rd August last year , and has made great progress ; it has a member roll of thirty , four subscribers , and a well-appointed Lodge room ) .

Beaconsneld Lodge , No . 1662 . —A meeting of this Lodge was held at the Chequers , Marsh-street , Waltharastow , on Saturday , the 6 th inst . Present—Bros . W . T . Christian W . M ., Groome S . W ., W . B . Brand J . W ., J . Finder P . M ., F . Hallows Hon . Sec , T . Franklin S . D .. J . H . Cambridge J . D ., W . G . Hallows acting I . G ., Delvalle W . S . The Lodge was opened in the 1 st degree , and the minutes of

the last regular Lodge aud emergency meetings were read and confirmed . Bros . Rubery and Stockwell , being candidates for passing , answered the nsnal questions . The Lodge was then opened in the 2 nd d gree , and the above brethren were passed . The Lodge was resumed in the 1 st degree , and the ballot taken for two gentlemen ( whose names had been handed in at the last meeting ) . This proved unani-

mous in their favour ; they being present , were then initialed accord , ing to ancient rite . In consequence of a vacancy having occurred since tho last meeting , in the office of S . D ., the W . M . conferred the collar upon the J . D . Bro . T . Franklin , that of J . D . upon Bro . J . H . Cambridge , and that of W . S . upon Bro . Delvalle . The remaining business having been transacted , the Lodge was closed .

Londesborough Lodge , No . 1681 . —The consecration of this Lodge took place in June last , and since that time it has had nine emergency meetings , and now numbers 30 members . The Right W . Lord Londesborough P . G . W . is tbe W . M . The first regular meeting since the recess was held on Thursday , the 4 th inst ., at the Masonio Hall , Air-street , Regent-street . In the absence of the W . M ., tho

The minutes of previous meetings were read

and confirmed ; after tho discussion of several matters in connection with the Lodge , it was closed until the first Thursday in November . The brethren then sat down to a banquet , provided by Bro . Nicols . Grace having been sung , the acting W . M . proposed the Queen and the Craft ; after the National Anthem—sung by Bros . Lawler , Carter , and Large , Bro . Berroll accompanying on the

piano—tho W . M . proposed the M . W . Grand Master H . R . H . the Prince of Wales . He was a noble example ; this was tho opinion of every brother in the Kingdom . Hj had doue much good for tbe Craft , and aided our Charities . Let us drink this toast with the enthusiasm it deserves . Bro . Carter here sang " Hail to thee , Albert . " The health of the R . W . the Earl of Carnarvon Pro G . M . waa tho next .

The Pro G . M . was ono of the most indefatigable brothers in the Order j those who had the privilege of seeing him in Grand Lodge , know no worthier Mason conld havo been selected . Tho Earl of Skelmersdale is also well-known and respected throughout tho Craft . Thoy were honoured by tho presence of one who in every way was esteemed , not only in his capacity of Grand Secretary , but for his

many qualities , which were recognised by every brother in the Order . Bro . Hervey had identified himself with the interest of the Craft , and he hoped they would drink the toast with the enthusiasm it merited . ( Cheers . ) Bro . John Hervey said he felt pleased to have this opportunity to return thanks , it waa at all times a great pleasure to respond for a nobleman who had done hia duty

so well . Ho was gratified to be able to say he waa present at the consecration of this Lodge . The flourishing position in which it stood was duo to the great exertions of tho founders . Thoy had exercised caution in their selection of Officers . As regards their Initiates , they had fully recognised that nothing could do more injury to the Craft than bringing in unsuitable

members . Ho regretted the absence of tho W . M ., Lord Londesborough , but they had ono at the head of the Lodge who could well and worthily fill his place . Bro . Horvey then proposed the toast of tho acting W . M . It was Dot the first time Bro . Barfield had occupied tho chair . As W . M . and Treasurer he had done his duty to their satisfaction . We owo him a debt of gratitude , and I , as a member of

this Lodge , ask you to drink his health with the utmost cordiality , Bro . Barfield said he thanked Bro . Hervey for tho kind manner he had spoken of him . In working for the success of the Lodge , he hoped he had done so to their satisfaction . He had initiated brethren who would eventually become a credit to the Order . Twenty-two candidates had been introduced since the formation , and

while he had energy he would support the Lodge , and he trusted the brethren would support him . The next toast waa that of tho Visitors . This was the first regular meeting since the consecration ; we are pleased to see Visitors on every occasion . He would call on Bro . Parsons P . M . 180 . Bro . Parsona had seen friends of hia initiated in the Lodge , and waa proud to be

present to assist the W . M . He waa amply repaid by his kind remarks , and hoped he echoed the sentiments of the Visitors present . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Secretary ; he waa one indefatigable in his duties . Bro . Reid said ho had taken an interest in the Lodge j both he and Bro . Barfield were ready to do their utmost to make the Lodge second to none . The W . M . next gave the health of the Wardens

of the Lodge ; thoy had done their duty , and the members were proud of them . The S . W . replied . In proposing the Masonic Charities , the W . M . expatiated eloquently in reference to the Institutions ; the brethren had only to visit them , and they would see what was necessary for their support ; they were an honour to the Craft . He knew of no one more able to respond than Bro . G . Bubb , who had

well represented the Charities , and be was sure ho would do so on a future occasion . Bro . Bubb J . W . responded . The Charities are the ornaments of Freemasonry , and he would press the newly initiated brethren to do their utmost for their support . If every Mason in England contributed 2 s fid to each of the Institutions during the

year , it would do a vast amount of good , and would prove beneficial in every respect . The Tyler's toaat was given , and a very delightful evening came to a close . The Visitors were : — J . We owo him a debt of gratitude , and I , as a member of

this Lodge , ask you to drink his health with the utmost cordiality , Bro . Barfield said he thanked Bro . Hervey for tho kind manner he had spoken of him . In working for the success of the Lodge , he hoped he had done so to their satisfaction . He had initiated brethren who would eventually become a credit to the Order . Twenty-two candidates had been introduced since the formation , and

while he had energy he would support the Lodge , and he trusted the brethren would support him . The next toast waa that of tho Visitors . This was the first regular meeting since the consecration ; we are pleased to see Visitors on every occasion . He would call on Bro . Parsons P . M . 180 . Bro . Parsona had seen friends of hia initiated in the Lodge , and waa proud to be

present to assist the W . M . He waa amply repaid by his kind remarks , and hoped he echoed the sentiments of the Visitors present . The W . M . then proposed the toast of the Secretary ; he waa one indefatigable in his duties . Bro . Reid said ho had taken an interest in the Lodge j both he and Bro . Barfield were ready to do their utmost to make the Lodge second to none . The W . M . next gave the health of the Wardens

of the Lodge ; thoy had done their duty , and the members were proud of them . The S . W . replied . In proposing the Masonic Charities , the W . M . expatiated eloquently in reference to the Institutions ; the brethren had only to visit them , and they would see what was necessary for their support ; they were an honour to the Craft . He knew of no one more able to respond than Bro . G . Bubb , who had

well represented the Charities , and be was sure ho would do so on a future occasion . Bro . Bubb J . W . responded . The Charities are the ornaments of Freemasonry , and he would press the newly initiated brethren to do their utmost for their support . If every Mason in England contributed 2 s fid to each of the Institutions during the

year , it would do a vast amount of good , and would prove beneficial in every respect . The Tyler's toaat was given , and a very delightful evening came to a close . The Visitors were : — J .
