NOTICES OF MEETINGS .

St . John ' s Lodge , Lisburn , County Antrim , Ireland . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Friday , 10 th March . Present—Bros . R . M . Tilly W . M ., VV . Graham S . W ., J . Higginson J . W ., Wm . Milson as S . D ., Wm . Johnston as J . D ., J . Pryde as I . G . Thero was also a large attendance of members and visitors . Bros . Francis Duffin , Lodgo 356 , Larne , and G . G . Tew , Esq ., Ulster Bank ,

were ballottod for and found clear , tho latter was initiated into the 1 st degree , by Bro . Tallentire , in his nsual impressive stylo . Bro . William Johnston introduced his motion for the increase of the annual subscription of this Lodge to tho Masonic Male and Female Orphan Schools , Dublin , which was seconded by Bro . M'Bride P . M ., and strongly supported by Bros . R . M . Tilly W . M ., Wilson and

Higginson , and it was unanimously agreed that the amonnt bo increased from £ 2 to £ 4 , and tho hope expressed by several of tho members present that , if tho state of Lodgo funds permit , they wonld still further increase the subscrip tion next year . Bro . Higginson then presented , on behalf of the committee appointed , a report as to the steps that had been taken in order to procure a

Royal Arch Chapter in connection with this Lodge . After considerable discussion the matter was adjourned for further consideration on next night of meeting ; as was also the motion , by Bro . Gilliland , for tho revision of the bye-laws of tho Lodge . Bro . W . D . Duncan , Lodgo 351 , Monaghan , was then proposed as a candidate for

affiliation . Lodge then olosed and adjourned to tho supper room for refreshments , Bro . Tilly presiding . After the usnal toasts had been given and responded to , several excellent songs were sung by the members , and after spending an honr in pleasant social intercourse the brethren separated .

Kilwinning Lodge , No . 4 . —This Lodge held an emergency meeting on Wednesday , the 15 th inst ., in their own Hall , Buchananstreet , Glasgow . Bro . Prowl R . W . M . presiding , who was well sup . ported by his officers , there was also a large attendance of visitors . The 2 nd and 3 rd degrees were wrought in a satisfactory manner .

Albion Lodge , No . 9 . —This old established Lodgo met on Wednesday , at tho Regent Masonic Hall , Air-street , Regent-street . Present—Bro . E . Kimber W . M ., E . T . Scott S . W ., W . R . Lake J . W ., T . Moring P . M . Treasurer , J . A . Abbott P . M . Secretary , F . McCarthy S . D ., S . Coote P . M . D . C , J . Forbes Organist , G . Roby I . G . ; and P . M . ' s I . S . Carter , H . Friend , E . Storr , S . Vallentine , E . Coote , and W . R .

Marsh . The Lodge was opened , and there wore several candidates placed on the agenda paper . The W . M ., in feeling and appropriate remarks , presented , in the name of the Lodge , a very elegantly emblazoned and handsomely framed testimonial to Bro . W . It . Marsh I . P . M ., for tho zeal , energy , courtesy and dignity with which ho

conducted the duties of the Lodge during his year of office as W . M . Bro . W . R . Marsh acknowledged the valuable gift with grateful feeling . Tho Lodge was then closed , and tho brethren adjourned to a banquet , where the usual toasts were given , and a very agreeable evening was spent . Tho testimonial , as a work of art , is perfect ; it was produced by Bro . T . Moring P . M . and Treasurer .

Kent Lodge , No . 15 . —This Lodge held its annual meeting at Freemasons' Hall , for the purpose of installing Bro . James Pinder S . W . and W . M . elect into the chair of K . S ., on tho 8 th inst . The ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . H . Martin P . M ., with his accustomed ability . The W . M . having been proclaimed and saluted according to ancient form , appointed the following as his

officers for the ensuing year , namely : Bros . S . Wharman S . W ., J . H . Cambridge J . W ., S . Weingott S . D ., C . Ginman J . D ., E . Steinsom I . G ., J . Beckett Tyler . Bros . Barlow and Dnkes were re-invested Treasurer and Secretary respectively . The next duty of the new W . M . was that of raising Bro . T . W . Legge to the sublime degree , and all who know Bro . Pinder will imagine , more easily than we can describe , tho

ability with which he performed this solemn ceremony . The Lodgo then voted tho sum of £ 10 to the widow of a deceased member . There were only two P . M . ' s present , besides the Installing Master , namely Bros . Barlow and Dukes , and among the visitors were Bros . F . Irebeck and J . E . Sims , both of Lodge 1445 . There was no banquet ; for as soon as the W . M . elect heard of the sad death of his

predecessor in the chair , Bro . John Giles , well-known and respected m musical circles , he sent round to the members of tho Lodge , announcing that tho usual festivities incident to the appointment of a new Master would not take place . This , of course , will in a great measure account for the paucity of the attendance . But , considering

the popularity of Bro . Binder , his great energy , the skill he has acquired , at various Lodges of Instruction , " ' in our ritual , and his readiness at all times to take a leading part iu Masonic studies , we confess wo were greatly surprised the brethren were not present in greater force to witness and applaud his elevation to the chair .

Egyptian Lodge of Instruction , No . 27 . —This Lodge held its usnal weekly meeting at Bro . Maid well ' s , The Hercules , Leadenhall-street , on Thursday evening last , lGth March , at 7 . 30 . Present—Bros . Rudderforth W . M , Biddle S . W ., Maidwcll J . W * ., Grammer Hon . Secretary , Atkins P . M . Treasurer , Brieut S . D ., Ellis J . D ., Hollands I . G ., aud Bro . Austin P . M . Preceptor . The Lodge was opened to the third degree , and the ceremony of

raising was rehearsed , Bro . Salmonese being the candidate . The 1 st section of the lecture was worked by Bro . Brient , and tho 2 nd and 3 rd by Bro . HDrsley , assisted by the brethren . Bros . H . Webb P . M . 72 , & c , Scott 193 , and Young 27 were elected joining members . A vote of thanks was entered on the minutes to the W . M ., Bro . Rudder , forth , for his very able rendering of the sublime degree . The Lodge was then closed iu the three degrees .

Present—Bros . Killick W . M ., Stock S . W ., Hewlett J . W ., Killick Sec , Pilbeam S . D ., Lake J . D ., Beck I . G ., Christopher Tyler . Visitor—Bro . Stewart , P . M . Lodge Faith . Business—The Lodge having been opened , the

minutes were read and confirmed . Bro . Powell having offered himself as a candidate , was passed to the degree of F . C . Bro . Stock worked the 1 st and 2 nd sections of the second lecture , and Bro . Pearcey the 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd sections of the firsfcleoture . Bro . Stewart , P . M . Lod { Q Faith , was elected a member , and Bro . Stock W . M . for the ensuing week .

Angel Lodge , No . 51 . —The monthly meeting of this Lodge , held on the 7 th inst ., was one of the most successful which has been held for a considerable time . The W . M . had issued invitations to the brethren of the sister Lodges of the neighbourhood to pay a friendly visit , and the consequence was a very large gathering , upwards of sixty brethren being present in Lodge . The actual

business was confined to the ceremony of raising , which was performed in the most impressive manner by the popular W . M ., Bro . Welsh ; the organ accompaniments being played by Bro . J . J . 0 . Turner , the Organist . Bro . P . M . Becker drew the attention of the members of tho Lodge , and also the visitors , to the case of Solomon Hiram Shury , a lad of about eight years of age , who is a candidate ,

second application , for election into the Royal Masonio Institution for Boys . The father of the boy , Bro . Becker stated , was in his 73 rd year , and in very indifferent health , and it would be a great comfort to him to see tho boy , who was a most promising lad , elected this time . Ho trusted that the Secretary would do his utmost to secure tho election , and that individual brethren would also lend

their aid . The Secretary stated that ho was doing all that in him lay to forward the case , and was circulating a large number of printed papers among tho subscribers . Bro . Cole P . M . remarked that he had represented the case at the election in October , and hoped to do so with greater success in April , as ho felt that they conld not do too much for so worthy and thorough a Mason as

Bro . Shury , whoso income was very small , owing to tho early age at which he was compelled , on account of failing sight , to leave the Post Office service . Lodge having been duly closed , the brethren adjourned for refreshments , and on the removal of the cloth , the nsual Masonic toasts were given and heartily responded to . In replying to the toast of the Visitors , proposed in felicitous terms by

tho W . M ., Bro . Colonel Morrison took occasion to allude to tho very able and solemn manner in which the W . M . had performed the ceremony of tho evening , and stated that in all his experience he had never heard it better rendered . The gallant Colonel also enlarged npon tho antiqnity and stability of Freemasonry , and attributed its having been able to withstand the destroying hand of time to the

fact that its foundation rested npon the book of God revealed will . Tho proceedings of tho evening , which were of a most harmonious character , were interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental music by Bros . S . Chaplin , T . M . Bear , A . R . Staines , J . T . Browning , R . Nash and C . Winterbon , under the direction of the organist : and before the meeting dispersed the W . M . thanked those

brethren , in the name of the Lodge , for the treat they had afforded . Among the brethren present during the evening were Bros . Col . Morrison , commanding Royal Engineers , Col . Bray , commanding 96 th Regiment , Col . Stallard , commanding Royal Artillery , Lieut . G . F . Guyon , 7 th Fusiliers , R . S . Nunn , M . R . C . S ., Rev . E . H . Crate , Rev .

Goodhall , and A . Ash ford were duly initiated , the ceremonies being impressively delivered . A board of Installed Masters was then formed , and Bro . B Clegg S . W . and W . M . elect ., was presented to the Lodge , and duly installed by Bro . J . Noke P . M .,

iu a manner that was listened to with attention . Tho W . M . having been saluted , invested his officers , advancing each a step , which also exhibited appreciation of their working qualities . A notice of motion was given to remove the Lodge to a moro convenient place , and a committee was appointed to carry that into effect . Several

matters in connexion with the Lodge were discussed , and the resignation of a member was accepted . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren sat down to a very capital banquet , where the W . M ., who very ably presided , proposed tho usual toasts , and an agreeable evening waa passed ,

Lodge having been duly closed , the brethren adjourned for refreshments , and on the removal of the cloth , the nsual Masonic toasts were given and heartily responded to . In replying to the toast of the Visitors , proposed in felicitous terms by

tho W . M ., Bro . Colonel Morrison took occasion to allude to tho very able and solemn manner in which the W . M . had performed the ceremony of tho evening , and stated that in all his experience he had never heard it better rendered . The gallant Colonel also enlarged npon tho antiqnity and stability of Freemasonry , and attributed its having been able to withstand the destroying hand of time to the

fact that its foundation rested npon the book of God revealed will . Tho proceedings of tho evening , which were of a most harmonious character , were interspersed with some excellent vocal and instrumental music by Bros . S . Chaplin , T . M . Bear , A . R . Staines , J . T . Browning , R . Nash and C . Winterbon , under the direction of the organist : and before the meeting dispersed the W . M . thanked those

iu a manner that was listened to with attention . Tho W . M . having been saluted , invested his officers , advancing each a step , which also exhibited appreciation of their working qualities . A notice of motion was given to remove the Lodge to a moro convenient place , and a committee was appointed to carry that into effect . Several

matters in connexion with the Lodge were discussed , and the resignation of a member was accepted . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren sat down to a very capital banquet , where the W . M ., who very ably presided , proposed tho usual toasts , and an agreeable evening waa passed ,
