We have been favoured with a copy of thc full report of the first meeting held in aid of the Educational Fund of the Province of North and East Yorkshire , which was held under the presidency of the Ri g ht Hon . the Earl of Zetland , R . W . P . G . M ., in the Masonic Hall ,

York , on Wednesday , the Sth May last , the most prominent among the guests being H . R . H . Prince Albert Victor of Wales , Past S . G . W . of England . The particulars of this successful gathering are

already well known to our readers , but it is worth while stating that the number of brethren who gave their services as Stewards was 113 , and the balance of clear profit to the Fund , after all expenses had been defrayed , was . £ 1054 14 s . 1 id .

* * * The total of the sums subscribed b y the Craft , Arch , and Templar Masons of the United States towards the relief of the Masonic sufferers at Johnstown by the recent flood amounted , according to the Philadelphia

Keystone , at the time of its issue of the 13 th ult ., to a fraction over . ^ 40 , 000 , or £ 8000 . The contributions are chiefl y from bodies in Pennsylvania , but New York and other jurisdictions are well represented . Such generosity is most honourable to our American brethren .

A still finer illustration of Masonic Charity , and that , too , on the part of an individual brother , is recorded in the same issue of the Keystone , in the shape of a gift by Bro . the Hon . Charles W . Hutchinson—it is

not so stated , but we presume he is a member of our Society—of Utica , N . Y ., amounting to § 25 , 000 ( £ 5000 ) to the Masonic Home of New York which is about to be erected . * * *

On the 10 th ult ., the centenary of the constitution of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut was celebrated with all possible eclat at Hartford , Conn . The proceedings included an historical address b y Bro . Joseph K . Wheeler , Grand Secretary , a poem b y Bro . the Rev .

John T . Potter , an oration b y Bro . the Rev . J . W . Richardson , and also—but this took p lace the evening previous—a reception b y Bro . John H . Swarthout , M . W . G . M ., at the Tontine House , which was attended b y a numerous and brilliant gathering of prominent brethren .

According to the report furnished b y the Masonic Relief Committee at Johnstown , Pa ., b y the recent floods the total loss sustained b y the Masonic

community amounted to § 78 3 , 524 , namel y , b y the brethren of the Cambria Lodge , No . 278 , § 334 , 214 , and b y those of the Johnstown Lodge , § 449 , 310 . . There were 18 brethren included among those who perished in the waters .

Ihe newly-appointed rulers of Craft , Arch , and Templar Masonry in the State of Vermont are Bro . George W . Wing , M . W . G . M . of the Grand Lodge ; Comp . Edwin O . Hibbard , M . E . Grand High Priest of the

Grand Chapter ; and Sir Kni g ht William F . Lewis , G . Commander of Kni ghts Templar . The number of affiliated Craft brethren in Vermont , according to the latest returns , is S 544—averyfair numberfor so modest a State .

Thc death of Bro . W . Deamer , M . D ., P . A . G . D . C . of England , D . D . G . M . of Canterbury , New Zealand , was referred to by Bro . H . Thompson , D . G . M ., in a brief address at the Quarterl y Communication of District Grand Lodge , held at the St . Augustine Masonic Hall

Christchurch , on the iSth April last . Bro . Thompson gave full expression to the grief which he , in common with the rest of the Masonic fraternity in the District , felt at the loss thus sustained . He spoke in terms of unqualified praise of the high qualities which their

deceased brother had shown throughout the whole of his Masonic career , and concluded b y moving a resolution of regret at his death , and of sincere condolence with his family . Thc resolution was carried without a

dissentient voice , and it was afterwards agreed , on the recommendation of the Standing Committee , that a portrait in oils of the late Deputy should be obtained for the Hall .
