United Mariners Lodge , No . 30 . The members of the above lod ? e opened their new session at the Restaurant Frascati , Oxford-street , on the 15 th instant . Both the muster of members and the visitors' list were restricted . The former , judging by the apologies received , preferred , for the time being at all events , to follow the fortunes of the fishing-rod to attending to
the duties of the Craft . The visitors' list contained but a couple of names , that of Bro . J . Prentice , P . M . 11 S 5 , and one of the minor officers of the Kingsland Lodge . Owing to the absence of some of the officers , Bros . Thos . Smith , P . M ., donned the collar of the S . W . ; A . E . Remington , P . M ., that of S . D .: and H . R . Boyles that of J . D . The woik included the initiation of Mr . II . V . Dorey , and the passing of Bro . A . E . Prentice .
The adjournment for the Fourth Degree was made somewhit later than usual . Ample justice having bsen done to the banquet , the usuil loyal and Masonic toasts were disposed of . The harmony of the evening was contributed to Bro . Le Beau , who introduced "The Toreador , " who was apparently responsible for his ditermimtion to be " Off to Philadelphia in the morning "; Bro . Newbold , whose "S : ill " and " Dj bist wie eine
Blume" were well received ; Bro . D . Humphries , wh ;> responded to repeated calls for " Taffy at the Pantomime " ; Bro . Mitchell , who dreamed " A Dream of Paradise" ; whilst Bro . Thos . Smith , P . M ., recounted his adventures in Ashanti , " where they painted his teeth green , " and did other things which it is unnecessary to mention . Bro . Remington , P . M ., with " Father O'FIynn , " brought a capital evening's amusement to an end .
New Forest Lodge , No . 319 . The monthly meeting of the above lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , Lymington , on the Slh inst ,. when there was a large attendance , and amongst the visitors was Bro . Edward Prince , P . M ., Sec . 2671 , D . of C . 2760 , P . P . G . S . of W . Berks , an old Lymingtonian , who has always done credit to his native town , especially in railway work . The ceremonies of the day included that of passing and raising , and were impressively performed by the W . M ., Bro . J . W . Boggeln , ably assisted by the I . P . M ., Bro . G . S . Love . This was the first meeting since the W . M . was installed .
At the close of the lodge business , the brethren adjourned to the Bugle Hotel , and thoroughly enjoyed the banquet prepared by Bro . Dore , P . M ., P . P . G . D . of C , and a very interesting evening followed , deserved compliments being paid to Bro . Bjggeln on the splendid start he had made , and the excellence and correctness of his working . The brethren separated at 8 p . m ., the visitors having to leave by the last evening train .

The brethren and their visitors subsequently sat down to the customary installation banquet , at which the usual loyal anil Masonic toasts were honoured . Bro . G . B . Catt , I . P . M ., in proposing "The Health of the W . M ., " observed that the latter had for some years preferred to act as Wine Steward sooner than go forward . But now that he had gone on until he reached the chair he gave promise of putting in a good year of office , and he felt sure would rrake a good W . M ., who would materially
benefit the lodge . Bro . Ball , W . M ., who was received with applause , expressed the hope that the flattering remarks the l . P . M . had made about him would be justified . He had stood back for some years as he had not had the time he could wish to devote to office , but now they had elected him to such an honourable position , he hoped to discharge the duties to the satisfaction of the lodge .
The W . M ., in proposing "The Health of the I . P . M ., " said that he himself considered that to be really the toast of the evening . The l . P . M , had had a hard year , during which he had given general satisfaction . Bro . G . B . Catt , I . P . M ., in response , took the opportunity of publicly thanking the brethren for the jewel he ] had received , and which he would always wear with pride .
He had been heartily welcomed at every lodge he had visited as W . M . of the Duke of Connaught Lodge , which was looked on as one of the best in South London . He thanked the brethren for the way in which they had rallied round him . They had had a good year for initiates , and the officers had all done their work splendidly . He hoped the W . M . would have as good a year as he had himself . The W . M . proposed " The Health of the Installing Master . "
Bro . Blenkarn thanked the brethren for the gratifying reception they had given hinl as Installing Master and one of the old Past Masters of the lodge . He was glad to think he had been surrounded by so many old Masonic friends , assembled to see him instal one whom he had originally initiated . The toast of " The Visitors " was responded to by several of the large number of visitors present . The remaining toasts on the list comprised "The Treasurer and Secretary , " "The Past Masters , " " The Officers of the Lodge , " and the Tyler ' s toast .

The minutes of the previous meeting were read arid confirmed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . H . V . Gettliffe , Percival Smith , and Louis Liotard , which proved unanimous , and they were initiated in a most impressive and perfect minner by the W . M ., Bro . S . E . Firminger . The W . M . also passed Bro . A . Upright very capably . Bro . Thos . Grummant , P . M ., assumed the chair and Bro . F . Hudson was raised in a very able manner . Bro . S . E . Firminger , W . M ., assumed the chair , and three propositions were handed in for initiation , which augurs well . The W . M . rose , and in well chosen and
appreciative remarks dilated on the splendid achievement and strenuous efforts of Bro . T . Grummant , P . M ., and Bro . Chas . Hy . Stone , P . M ., in the election of the girlOdone being placed No . 1 on the list , and it was resolved " That the best thanks of the meeting be given to those two brethren for their exertions on behalf of the case . " In reply , Bro . T . Grummant accepted the kind remarks and thanks , and gave special praise to the brethren of the New Cross Lodge and also the Lodge Italia , whic ! had done yeomen service in the election . Bro . C . H . Stone also thanked the brethren for
being included in the vote , and said he was proud to assist in so good a cause , as it was his special delight , and hooed he should be able to carry out the same kind of work for long to come . He should be glad at the coming election of the Benevolent if the brethren could assist him in the election of a very worthy brother to the benefits of that Institution . The W . M . announced it was his intention to represent the lodge at the next Festival of the R . M . B . I ., and he hoped he should be able to take up such a list that would be worthy of the lodge .
The business of the lodge ended , it was closed , and the brethren adjourned to an excellent dinner , at the close of which the W . M . presented the loyal and Masonto toasts in a most worthy manner . In proposing "The King and the Craft , " he spoke of his Majesty as a worthy Protector of the Order .
The W . M ., in giving "H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , M . W . G . M ., " said he had the honour of attending at his installation , and those brethren who were privileged to attend could not but be struck at the admirable manner he presided over them . The toasts were right loyally received . The W . M . next proposed " The Pro G . M ., the Deputy G . M ., and the rest of the G . Officers , Present and Past , " and said they were most capable and excellent in their work lor the good of Freemasonry .
Bro . Menninger , P . M ., in most cordial terms , proposed thetoast of "The W . M . " of whom all were justly proud , and especially that year on the occasion of the election of the child OJone . The year had been a most successful and happy one , and he hoped the G . A . O . T . U . would give him health and strength and spare him for many years . He asked the brethren to drink it in bumpers . In reply , Bro . Firminger , W . M ., said he was exceedingly grateful for the kind
words that were spoken by Bro . Menninger . The lodge had had many excllent Masters , who had done their work well , and he hoped to emulate them , and whatever he could do for the lodge he should be only too proud . That day he felt doubly proud after the event of the election on the previous day , and it would only be to him a source of pleasure to work in so go . ij a cause on any future occasion . He tendered tho brethren his most hearty thanks . -
The toast of "The Initiates" was given by the W . M . in strong terms of recommendation , and congratulated them on their initiation . M ., who presented it in terms of great cordialityfor it

He had stood back for some years as he had not had the time he could wish to devote to office , but now they had elected him to such an honourable position , he hoped to discharge the duties to the satisfaction of the lodge .
The W . M ., in proposing "The Health of the I . P . M ., " said that he himself considered that to be really the toast of the evening . The l . P . M , had had a hard year , during which he had given general satisfaction . Bro . G . B . Catt , I . P . M ., in response , took the opportunity of publicly thanking the brethren for the jewel he ] had received , and which he would always wear with pride .
He had been heartily welcomed at every lodge he had visited as W . M . of the Duke of Connaught Lodge , which was looked on as one of the best in South London . He thanked the brethren for the way in which they had rallied round him . They had had a good year for initiates , and the officers had all done their work splendidly . He hoped the W . M . would have as good a year as he had himself . The W . M . proposed " The Health of the Installing Master . "
Bro . Blenkarn thanked the brethren for the gratifying reception they had given hinl as Installing Master and one of the old Past Masters of the lodge . He was glad to think he had been surrounded by so many old Masonic friends , assembled to see him instal one whom he had originally initiated . The toast of " The Visitors " was responded to by several of the large number of visitors present . The remaining toasts on the list comprised "The Treasurer and Secretary , " "The Past Masters , " " The Officers of the Lodge , " and the Tyler ' s toast .
The arrangements and accompaniments of the various musical selections rendered during the evening were by Bro . The minutes of the previous meeting were read arid confirmed . A ballot was taken for Messrs . H . V . Gettliffe , Percival Smith , and Louis Liotard , which proved unanimous , and they were initiated in a most impressive and perfect minner by the W . M ., Bro . S . E . Firminger . The W . M . also passed Bro . A . Upright very capably . Bro . Thos . Grummant , P . M ., assumed the chair and Bro . F . Hudson was raised in a very able manner . Bro . S . E . Firminger , W . M ., assumed the chair , and three propositions were handed in for initiation , which augurs well . The W . M . rose , and in well chosen and
appreciative remarks dilated on the splendid achievement and strenuous efforts of Bro . T . Grummant , P . M ., and Bro . Chas . Hy . Stone , P . M ., in the election of the girlOdone being placed No . 1 on the list , and it was resolved " That the best thanks of the meeting be given to those two brethren for their exertions on behalf of the case . " In reply , Bro . T . Grummant accepted the kind remarks and thanks , and gave special praise to the brethren of the New Cross Lodge and also the Lodge Italia , whic ! had done yeomen service in the election . Bro . C . H . Stone also thanked the brethren for
being included in the vote , and said he was proud to assist in so good a cause , as it was his special delight , and hooed he should be able to carry out the same kind of work for long to come . He should be glad at the coming election of the Benevolent if the brethren could assist him in the election of a very worthy brother to the benefits of that Institution . The W . M . announced it was his intention to represent the lodge at the next Festival of the R . M . B . I ., and he hoped he should be able to take up such a list that would be worthy of the lodge .
The business of the lodge ended , it was closed , and the brethren adjourned to an excellent dinner , at the close of which the W . M . presented the loyal and Masonto toasts in a most worthy manner . In proposing "The King and the Craft , " he spoke of his Majesty as a worthy Protector of the Order .
The W . M ., in giving "H . R . H . the Duke of Connaught , M . W . G . M ., " said he had the honour of attending at his installation , and those brethren who were privileged to attend could not but be struck at the admirable manner he presided over them . The toasts were right loyally received . The W . M . next proposed " The Pro G . M ., the Deputy G . M ., and the rest of the G . Officers , Present and Past , " and said they were most capable and excellent in their work lor the good of Freemasonry .
Bro . Menninger , P . M ., in most cordial terms , proposed thetoast of "The W . M . " of whom all were justly proud , and especially that year on the occasion of the election of the child OJone . The year had been a most successful and happy one , and he hoped the G . A . O . T . U . would give him health and strength and spare him for many years . He asked the brethren to drink it in bumpers . In reply , Bro . Firminger , W . M ., said he was exceedingly grateful for the kind
words that were spoken by Bro . Menninger . The lodge had had many excllent Masters , who had done their work well , and he hoped to emulate them , and whatever he could do for the lodge he should be only too proud . That day he felt doubly proud after the event of the election on the previous day , and it would only be to him a source of pleasure to work in so go . ij a cause on any future occasion . He tendered tho brethren his most hearty thanks . -
The toast of "The Initiates" was given by the W . M . in strong terms of recommendation , and congratulated them on their initiation . They had come of their own free will and accord , and would prove a great credit to the lodge . Bros . II . V . Gettliffe , P . Smith , and L . Liotard most forcibly replied , each acknow . ledging the great honour done them , The W . M . relegated the toast of " The Visitors" to Bro . T . Grummant , P . M ., who presented it in terms of great cordialityfor it
, was one which the brethren of the New Cross Lodge considered the toast of the evening , as their exuberance of feelina ' showed . The presence of visitors always called forth such expressions , and all thev desired was to make them comfortable . He asked the brethren to drink to the toast with all enthusiasm . As to Bro . Grummant it would bimpossible to find a better Secretary , and one who was ever ready and willing to asiist all who desired his assistance . " "'
