Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Bro . G . H . Bartlett , addressing the VV . M ., said that a very strong feertsg-fcad for some time existed amongst the members that some step should be taken to mark their recognition of the services rendered so freely to this lodge by some of the old Past Masters ; that the feeling existed could not be a matter of surprise to those who had noted the assiduity of their old and respected Bros . Past Masters

Moutrie , Becket , and Hill in the interest of the lodge—Bro . Moutrie , who had for so many years done yeoman service for the lodge , and in his capacity of Treasurer had even more interest for the funds of the lodge than he had for his own ; Bro . Becket , who had for an almost equal length of time given his services as Secretary to the lodge ( duties which only those who have had similar experience can pioperly

estimate ); and last , though not least , Bro . E . L . Hill , whose services were always available for the lodge , whether to fill the chair of VV . M . for the year ( as he had done upon more than one occasion ) , or to temporarily fill the duties of either of the subordinate offices . This feeling being in the minds of the brethren , they were also reminded that the lodge still lacked a very useful article usually found in all

well-ordered lodges , viz ., a loving cup . It was therefore suggested that it would be an excellent plan to present to the lodge a loving cup in honour of the three Past Masters . This suggestion was warmly adopted by the members , and he had now to ask the VV . M . to accept , on behalf of the lodge , the loving cup produced , which had received a suitable inscription , and on behalf of the subscribing brethren

he had only to express a hope , in which he heartily joined , that the three esteemed Past Masters might be spared for many years to participate in the use of the cup . The cup was accepted by the Worshipful Master , who read the following inscription engraved upon it : "Royal Albert Edward Lodge , No . 90 G . Presented to this lodge by the members , in loving and grateful recognition of the

long and valued services so freely rendered thereto by Bros . T . B . Moutrie , P . M ., P . P . G . S . W . Somerset ; C . Becket , P . M ., P . P . G . Sd . Br . Somerset ; and E . L . Hill , P . M ., P . P . G . P . Somerset . February , 1 SS 6 . James Knight , VV . M . " The W . M . explained that the movement had originated with some of the junior members , and had been thoroughly endorsed by all the older members . For

himself , it met with his hearty commendation and support , and he congratulated the brethren upon the success of their efforts . The cup having been filled , the VV . Master pledged the three Past Masters , and each brother having done the sameBios . Moutrie and Hill thanked the W . M . and

, brethren in suitable terms for having placed such a lasting memorial of them in the lodge . The lodge was then recalled to labour . 'The working tools were given by the S .
