1471 . The minutes were read and confirmed , and the ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Jenkins being the candidate . Votes of thanks were unanimously recorded for the able manner the three presiding oflicers had performed

Bro . Charles James Banister , S . G . G . 33 ° , I . G . North Eastern District , was received in due form , and being requested by the M . W . S . to take the chair , to install his successor . The M . W . S . elect was presented by the Grand Marshal to 111 . B ' ro . Banister for

installation , and after reciting the qualifications to the M . W . S . elect , Bro . J . D . Kay , who subscribed to them , carefully installed him and placed him upon the chair of his predecessors , who then appointed his oflicers , and before the chapter was closed thanked III . Bro . C . J . Banister for coming to install him . In reply 111 . Bro . C . J . Banister addressed the excellent and perfect brethren upon their duty , and advising them as to the working of the

Durham , and Berwick-on-Tweed , installed the E . Preceptor elect , Sir Kt . John Davies , into the chair of his predecessor with his usual impressiveness , who then appointed his officers . Letters of apology were received from V . E . Provincial Prior , Sir Kt . T . W . Tew , and the Provincial Sub-Prior , Sir Kt . Kay , who were unavoidably prevented from

being present . The business of the preceptory being over , it was closed in due form after the E . Preceptor had returned thanks to V . E . Sir Kt . C . J . Banister , for installing him . Dinner was served in the dining hall anda delightful evening was spent , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were suitably proposed and responded to .

BERWICK-ON-TWEED . —Royal Kent Preceptory ( No . 20 ) . —This preceptory was held on Friday , the 23 rd inst ., and was opened in due form by the E . Preceptor , Sir Kt . T . M . Watson , assisted by the officers . Sir Kt . William Logan , of the St . Cuthberts Preceptory , Darlington , was elected a joining member . Comp . George Eugene Macarthy was installed a Knight Templar by the

E . Preceptor , with great care . The V . E . Provincial Prior was received in due form and saluted . He complimented the E . Preceptor in giving the Degrees so well . Business over , the V . E . Provincial Prior , Sir Kt . C . J . Banister , and the provincial officers present , retired under

an arch of steel . The evening was spent very pleasantly , after refreshments , interspersed with songs and recitations . This preceptory is working well , and ably assisted by P . P . Sub-Prior , Sir Kt . H . Hothorne , Treas ., who is always present . Notes and telegrams were received from the absent members .

Thomas , as M . P . S . ; Marsh , Hogard , Maude , Thiellay , Bailey , Tyler , and Soppet . The beautiful degrees of K . H . S . and St . John the Evangelist were conferred upon Sir Kts . Maude and Tyler , when the following resolution , proposed by Sir Kt . Charles .

Hogard ( Grand JPreceptor ) , Recorder , seconded by Sir Knight James Lewis Thomas , Grand Historiographer , was carried unanimously , amid general expressions of regret : — "That thc members of this Conclave desire to express to Bro . F . W . Levander their deep and sincere regret at the great loss he and they have sustained in the death of their M . P . S ., Sir Knight Henry Charles Levander ( P . G . Viceroy ) , Grand

Treasurer , who departed this life on the 4 th Dec . 1 SS 4 . " His kind and generous disposition , his courteous bearing , and unfailing interest in the affairs of the Conclave , endeared him to all with whom he came in contact , and his extensive experience in all that appertains to the Order was at all times at their disposal . installation , and after reciting the qualifications to the M . W . S . elect , Bro . J . D . Kay , who subscribed to them , carefully installed him and placed him upon the chair of his predecessors , who then appointed his oflicers , and before the chapter was closed thanked III . Bro . C . Durham , and Berwick-on-Tweed , installed the E . Preceptor elect , Sir Kt . John Davies , into the chair of his predecessor with his usual impressiveness , who then appointed his officers . an arch of steel . The evening was spent very pleasantly , after refreshments , interspersed with songs and recitations . This preceptory is working well , and ably assisted by P . P .
