of unusual interest is discussed at these meetings , and when the matter has been well threshed out , the decision is taken , and in ninety-nine cases out of every hundred the matter ends there . It would never occur to any of our executive Grand Officers to concern themselves about the interior economy of the private lodges . They know well what powers are vested in

Grand Lodge , and what rights and privileges are secured to private lodges . They take care that no conflicts shall arise between those powers , on the one hand , and these rights and privileges , on the other , and the result is , that , though a lodge is occasionally the scene of a battle royal among its members , and a slight amount of partisanship is occasionally noticeable in

Grand Lodge , the course of English Freemasonry , unlike the proverbial course of true love , runs smoothly enough in essentials . We do our work in Grand Lodge and private lodges in accordance with the laws and constitutions of

the Craft ; we enjoy ourselves socially ; and we humbly , but sincerely , do our best to carry out the princip les of Masonry . Let Kentucky do this , and it may safely leave the work of legislation , to the small extent that is necessary , to take care of itself .

Charles Frederick Hogard , as Z . ; Alfred Julius Henochsberg , as H . ; Joseph Da Silva , as J ., and eight others for a chapter to be attached to the Lodge of Israel , No . 205 , London , to be called the Israel Chapter , and to meet at the Terminus Hotel , Cannon-street , in the City of London .

The foregoing petitions being in all respects regular , the Committee recommend that the prayers thereof be respectively granted . The Committee have also to report that , in consequence of the formation and recognition of . 1 Grand Lodge of South Australia , there is no longer an English Craft Lodge in that colony to which the South Australian Chapter , No . 5 83 , meeting at Adelaide , can be attached as required by Article 43 , Royal Arch Regulations .

The Committee therefore recommend that the charter of the said chapter be withdrawn and cancelled , and that the chapter be erased from the register of the Grand Chapter of England . The Committee have further to report that the Special Committee appointed to revise the Royal Arch Regulations having concluded their labours , a copy of the proposed revision will be laid before Grand Chapter on the 4 U 1 proximo .

The Committee would suggest that copies of the proposed revision be sent out to all Grand Superintendents and chapters , and that itbe considered , and , if approved , passed at the convocation of Grand Chapter on the 2 nd February , 1 SS 6 . ( Signed ) ROBERT GREV , P . G . A . Soj ., President .

CONSECRATION OF THE ROSE AND LILY COUNCIL , No . 15 , ALLIED DEGREES .

A new council of the Allied Degrees , bearing the style and title of the Rose and Lily , No . 15 , was consecrated at the Masonic Hall , 8 A , Red Lionsquare , on Saturday , the 24 th inst . Bro . C . F . Matier , P . D . G . M ., Grand

Secretary , was the Consecrating Officer , and valuable assistance was rendered him by Bros . J . L . Mather , Dr . W . E . Stewart , Rev . Dr . Morris , Robert Berridge , Grand Director of Ceremonies , and C . H . Driver , while Bro . Hoare presided with his usual ability at the organ .

At the commencement of the proceedings , there were present of the founders of the council Bros . R . Berridge , C . H . Driver , J . U . Spence , A . R . Carter , W . A . Scurrah , C . A . C . Jones , A . Williams , and F . T . Bennett , the visitors comprising Bros . H . Pigeon , jun ., B . R . Bryant , W . E . Stewart . J . S . Cumberland , and E . J . Hoare .

The council having been opened , the following candidates hailing from the several Mark lodges named were admitted successively to the Degrees of St . Lawrence and Kt . of Constantinople : Bros . J . Special Provincial Grand Lodge Of North And East Yorks.

SPECIAL PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF NORTH AND EAST YORKS .

DEDICATION OF THE EBORACUM MASONIC HALL . On Thursday , the 22 nd inst ., the Earl of Zetland , Provincial Grand Master of North and East Yorkshire , summoned a special convocation of the members of his Provincial Grand Lodge at York , for the purpose of dedicating to Masonic purposes the new Masonic Hall , lately purchased and fitted up for their own use by the brethren of the Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . We have already given a description of this building , which

until lately was the abiding place of the York Institute of Literature , Science , and Art ; but when that institution acquired its new and splendid premises in Clifford-street , the corner stone of which was laid with Masonic honours by the Prince of Wales some two years ago , the old fabric was purchased by the Eboracum Lodge , and has since been in process of fitting up

for Masonic purposes . Very little . alteration in the general design has been required ; but a great deal of internal detailed work has been carried out , and probably the dedication ceremony would have been arranged earlier had it not been for the delay in the construction of the furniture , which is even yet not completed , and which is of a most elaborate character .

Provincial Grand Lodge was summoned for two o ' clock p . m . ; but before that hour the brethren and visitors assembled in goodly numbers , and found preparations made for their comfort and refreshment , the banquet room having been fitted up as a buffet and the smoke room as a retiring place for the Provincial Officers , whilst the Committee room was reserved for the Provincial Grand Master and his Deputy . Amongst the many brethren who assembled

SPECIAL PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF NORTH AND EAST YORKS .

DEDICATION OF THE EBORACUM MASONIC HALL . On Thursday , the 22 nd inst ., the Earl of Zetland , Provincial Grand Master of North and East Yorkshire , summoned a special convocation of the members of his Provincial Grand Lodge at York , for the purpose of dedicating to Masonic purposes the new Masonic Hall , lately purchased and fitted up for their own use by the brethren of the Eboracum Lodge , No . 1611 . We have already given a description of this building , which

until lately was the abiding place of the York Institute of Literature , Science , and Art ; but when that institution acquired its new and splendid premises in Clifford-street , the corner stone of which was laid with Masonic honours by the Prince of Wales some two years ago , the old fabric was purchased by the Eboracum Lodge , and has since been in process of fitting up

for Masonic purposes . Very little . alteration in the general design has been required ; but a great deal of internal detailed work has been carried out , and probably the dedication ceremony would have been arranged earlier had it not been for the delay in the construction of the furniture , which is even yet not completed , and which is of a most elaborate character .

Provincial Grand Lodge was summoned for two o ' clock p . m . ; but before that hour the brethren and visitors assembled in goodly numbers , and found preparations made for their comfort and refreshment , the banquet room having been fitted up as a buffet and the smoke room as a retiring place for the Provincial Officers , whilst the Committee room was reserved for the Provincial Grand Master and his Deputy .
