Innes , with a valuable Past Master's jewel , which had been unanimously voted by the lodge , and tendered him the best thanks of the members for the faithful and able way in which he had discharged his duties . Bro . Innes thanked the brethren for the kind feeling they had shown towards
him in presenting him with a Past Master ' s jewel , also for the support he had received from the members during his year of office . The lodge ;' was ° then closed and adjourned to banquet , which was served by the host , Bro . Deacon , in a very creditable manner . In due order the usual toasts were honoured , and "Hearty good wishes" to the W . M . were received by
telegram from Hartington Lodge , 10 S 5 . The D . P . G . M . proposed "The Health of the Worshipful Master , " and in so doing remarked that he had to visit a great number of lodges in the discharge of his duties , but had never seen the duties of W . M . discharged with greater dignity and ability , under the many peculiar difficulties of the evening , than on that occasion .
The Worshipful Master , in responding , said that he had only one desire , viz ., to discharge his duty as a ruler in the Craft and Master of that lodge . The Worshipful Master then proposed " The Health of the Officers , " with which he coupled the health of the Treasurer and Secretary , after which the Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close .

CHEETHAM . —Derby Lodge ( No . 1055 ) . —On Thursday , the Sth inst ., the members of this lodge held their St . John's Festival , and installed into the chair Bro . Robert Leech , a brother so highly respected that , although he has been Master of the Strangeways Lodge , the brethren of the Derby held him in such esteem that they determined to do him honour by placing him at their head . M ., who sang the anthems and musical portions with great taste and feeling , to the accompaniment of Bro . W . O . Pettitt . We were pleased to hear the year ' s balance-sheet read out , and to le 3 rn therefrom that , although the year was commenced with a debit balance , the Treasurer finished up with a
balance in hand of £ 38 , besides sending over £$ S to the East Lancashire Masonic Charities . After the banquet customary to this festival , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . The great feature of the evening , however , was the presentation to Bro . F . R . Cooper , I . P . M ., of a gold Past Master's jewel . Bro . J . Snape proposed " Bro . Cooper's Health " in
eloquent and feeling terms , and said that , although the Derby Lodge could boast of a long line of illustrious Past Masters , there was not one of them that had exceeded Bro . Cooper in the extent and arduousness of his labours for the lodge and Masonry generally , or who had excelled him in the real kind brotherly Masonic feeling he had displayed to
everybody . Bro . Cooper thanked the brethren for their handsome present and also for the enthusiastic manner in which they had drunk his health , and said that it had been a pleasure to him to do what he could for the lodge . _ The evening was spent harmoniously , the music and singing being of a very superior character .

M . ; " " The Visitors ; " "The Officers ; " and " The Masonic Charities ; " were all duly given , heartily received , and responded to , being interspersed with some excellent songs by Bros . Bush , Hill ,
Howse , Spender , Scammell , Selfe , and others , Bros . Sparks , Beale , and Spender alternately presiding at the piano . The Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close , the brethren dispersing after having spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening , and assisted at one of the largest Masonic gatherings that „ bas been held since the founding of the lodge .

balance in hand of £ 38 , besides sending over £$ S to the East Lancashire Masonic Charities . After the banquet customary to this festival , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . The great feature of the evening , however , was the presentation to Bro . F . R . Cooper , I . P . M ., of a gold Past Master's jewel . Bro . J . Snape proposed " Bro . Cooper's Health " in
eloquent and feeling terms , and said that , although the Derby Lodge could boast of a long line of illustrious Past Masters , there was not one of them that had exceeded Bro . Cooper in the extent and arduousness of his labours for the lodge and Masonry generally , or who had excelled him in the real kind brotherly Masonic feeling he had displayed to
everybody . Bro . Cooper thanked the brethren for their handsome present and also for the enthusiastic manner in which they had drunk his health , and said that it had been a pleasure to him to do what he could for the lodge . _ The evening was spent harmoniously , the music and singing being of a very superior character .
