aj ________^_________ After the closing of the lodge , the members and their visitors adjourned to the banquet room , where they partook of a sumptuous banquet , and passed a very pleasant evening , enlivened with some excellent vocal music , contributed by Bro . Gabb and other members of the lodge . The customary loyal and patriotic toasts were proposed by the W . M . and cordially honoured by all present .
, "The Health of the Worshipful Master " was proposed , as is usual , by the Immediate Past Master , who said that as time was pressing he would confine himself to asking those present to drink to the health of Bro . up that position to say a few words . He had a very pleasant task before him . Their Worshipful Master had taken to himself a wife on the iSth inst ., and , in the same way that Corporations were accustomed to present their Mayor with asilver cradlein the event of theMayorcssgivingbirthto a child during the mayoralty , so the brethren of the Burgoyne Lodge desired to make a present to their chief

the pleasure to present Bro . Batty , the expression of the hope that the clock would always remind him of the Burgoyne Lodge , and of the high esteem and affection with which he was regarded by the brethren who had the advantage of being presided over by so worthy a Mason . Bro . Batty , in reply , thanked the l . P . M . and brethren
for the kind way in which his health had been proposed and drunk . Then upon the ceremony of presentation which had been so kindly conducted by his brother S . W ., he said that he was greatly impressed by the kindness of the brethren of the lodge in presenting him with that clock as a mark of their favour , and with the kindness of Bro . Wales , P . M ., in preparing that very flattering inscription . Whenever he looked at that clock it would remind him of
the day when he joined the Burgoyne Lodge , and the inscription would remind him of the fact that he was Master of the lodge when he took a better half for the third time . , . A very cordial toast was proposed in the course of the evening to "The Prosperity of the Masonic Charities , " for which Bro . Binckes returned thanksjn a very able speech .
