ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOE BOYS .
THE anniversary festix * al of this Institution was celebrated by a very elegant dinner , afc the Freemasons' Tavern , on AVednesday evening , March Oth , the Eight Hon . the Earl of Zetland , M . W- Gr . M ., presiding , supported by about 200 of the Brethren . The object of the Institution is , to receive under its protection the sons of indigent ancl deceased Brethren , to provide them with decent clothing , and to afford them an education adapted to the situation hi life they are most probably destined to occupy , and inculcate such
religious instruction as may be conformable to the tenets of their parents , and , ultimately , to apprentice them to suitable trades . The Institution is founded on the true principles of Masonic charity . Children of all religious denominations , and xvherever resident , are eligible to be admitted as candidates , from the age of seven to ten , provided their fathers have been Masons three years , duly registered in the Grand Lodge books , and have continued subscribing members to a Lodge for two years . 748 children have been clothed and educated by the charity , and seventy boys are admitted by the Institution on the establishment .
At the present moment great exertions are being made for the purpose of budding a school-house for the reception of parfc of the children , whilst , at the same time , clue care is to be taken that the great basis of religious equality on which the Charit y is founded shall never be lost sight of .
