IEI , . —On Wednesday , March 9 , fche Brethren of the Huddersfield Lodge , No . 367 , and the Lodge of Truth , No . 763 , gave a grand Ereemasons' soiree , exclusively for Ereemasons and ladies , in the Ereemasons' Hall , Kirkgate , the object being to promote the interests of the braiding fund connected with the Ereemasons' Boys ' Schoolan establishment which cannot be too highly appreciated by
, the Craft , and the proceeds of the present soiree were dex'oted to that purpose . It was under the patronage of the following noblemen and gentlemen -. —The Bight Hon . the Earl of Zetland , M . W . G . M . the Eight Hon . the Earl of Yarborough , B . W . D . G . M . ; the Eight Hon . the Earl of Mexborough , B . W . P . G . M . for AVest Yorkshire ; the Eight Worshipful Bro . Charles Lee , D . P . G . M . for AVest
Yorksire ; Bro . Eowland Gardiner Alston , promoter of the Boys ' School ; Bro . Biehard Carter , trustee to the Boys' School . The Eight AVorshipful Brother Charles Lee , D . P . G . M , occupied the Chair , and the Brethren appeared in full Masonic costume . About 300 ladies and Brethren attended , and at six o ' clock sat down to an exceUent teaprovided gratuitouslby sixteen of the uninitiated part
, y of the company . Bro . Lee made an exceUent speech in favour of the object they had met to promote , and Bro . Carter Lee , the promoter of the Boys' School , also ably advocated the claims ofthe Institution , which is established to educate the orphans of deceased Masons .
HUM .. —The " Minerva" Lodge , No . 311 , since the advent of the present year , have introduced a course of lectures hi then * Lodge illustrative of the science of Ereemasomy . The first of the series , " On the Masonic Apron , " xvas delivered on the 23 rd of January last by Bro . C . E . Codd , and has been ably followed by Bro . J . Croinpton " On the Symbols , " tracing the connection betxveen the ancient and modern mysteries . The attendances have shown the interest taken by the Craft in this experiment , and it is intended to continue the lectures at intervals of a month .
MiDBTjESBOKOTrGH . — The flourishing town of Middlesborough , among the many valuable institutions formed to promote the weUbeing of its inhabitants , has added thereto a Masonic Lodge . Application for a warrant having been made to the Eight Hon the Earl of Zetland , Grand Master of England , his Lordship was pleased to accede to the request , and with the permission of his Lordshi p , Bro . A . A . Leveau proceeded to Middlesborough , on Tuesday , the I 3 th of December , to constitute and consecrate the New Lodge . VOT .. T . n
