install his old friend , Bro . VV . Burroughs , S . VV . and VV . M . elect , and Bro . F . A . White , I . P . M ., P . P . G . Reg . Essex , svhose duty it svas next to the VV . M ., kindiy gave svay to that desire . Bro . White acted as D . C , and presented Bro . Burroughs to the Installing Officer , and the latter did his svork admirably . __ The nesv VV . style . Tsvo guineas svere voted for the immediate relief of the late Tyler , svho resigns on account of age and illhealth , and the lodge svas closed . The banquet svas spread at the Golden Lion Hotel , Bro . Peter Reynolds' comfortable county hotel , and svas recherche in every svay . Among the other brethren present svere Bros . G . VV . Patmore , P . M ., P . P . G . J . D . Essex ; A . J . Alanning , P . M ., P . P . G . J . D . Essex ; R . Warren ,
P . M . ; D . Mercer , C . Collingwood , J . VV . Armour , VV . Jacobs , E . Jacobs , C . Parish , R . -Mathew , H . Smith , P . Reynolds , A . Little , and VV . Child , all of the lodge ; Ii . Scurrah , W . AL elect 204 S ; C . Carroll , S . VV . 1 S 0 G ; G . VV . Knight , J . VV . 204 S ; T . Edmonds , S . D . 1507 ; G . Emblin , j . D .
147 ; J . Saunders , 1507 ; F . Wills , 1 S 16 ; and C . Jolly , S . W . 1472 , & c . ( Freemason ) . The usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts having been duly honoured , that of " The R . VV . Lord Brooke , P . G . M . of Essex , " svas received svith fervour , and drunk heartily . The next toast svas that of "Bro . Philbrick , D . P . G . M . Essex , and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " and , in giving it , the W . AI . spoke in glosving
terms of the svide and extended Masonic knosvledge , and also the legal acumen , of Bro . Philbrick , instancing a case that came under his osvn notice at Grand Lodge where a brother appealed against a sentence of expulsion . The masterly manner in svhich Bro . Philbrick handled the case svas the ' theme of universal admiration , and thc very brother svho had appealed svent asvay seemingly convinced that the sentence svas a just one . He coupled the toast
with the name of Bro . V . A . White , P . G . R . Essex . Bro . White , in response , said that he had had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Lord Brooke upon many occasions , and alsvays found him not only a perfect gentleman , but an enthusiastic and hard-svorking Alason . With regard to Bro . Philbrick , he cordially endorsed the remarks of the W . M . as to his extensive legal and Maionic knosvledge , and of the energetic manner in svhich he carried out
his duties in the province . He had the honour and privilege of being present when Lord Brooke was installed P . G . M . by tlieir late lamented brother , the Duke of Albany , and as long as they had tsvo such leaders the cause of Freemasonry svould continue to progress in the province . He should feel it his duty svhen next he attended Prov . Grand Lodge to report upon the admirable manner in svhich the Liberty of Havering Lodge svas conducted , and also upon
its rapid advance among the lodges of the province , particularly as regards the support it is giving to the three Alasonic Charities . Bro . Manning thought that Prov . Grand Lodge svould be very pleased to hear that a VV . M . of the Liberty of Havering Lodge had upon the very day of his installation raised tsvo candidates svith all the accuracy of an old AIaster . Bro . Patmore also brielly responded .
The Immediate Past Master , in eloquent language , then proposed the toast of " 'The VV . AI . " He remembered well svhen their VV . M . svas initiated he promised to do his utmost to reach the position he nosv occupied , and he had svatched his career up the ladder svith more than ordinary interest . That he had svorked hard and svorthily they all knew , for by their unanimous vote he had been elected , and that he svould leave the position as unsullied as he found it , they fully believed , and leave it not only unsullied ,
but brighter and better in every svay . He ( Bro . Burroughs ) svas a young Mason to hold such an important ollice , but he had " svorked , " and that meant success . Who amongst them , even the oldest , svas not proud of the svay in svhich their W . M . had raised tsvo brethren that afternoon ? It svas without a precedent in the lodge , and svould be remembered foryearsto come . He trusted they might alwass have such svorthy brethren to fill the chair , and then its duties and responsibilities svould be grappled svith and triumphantly carried to a safe and harmonious conclusion . He

asked them to drink the toast in a bumper , and resumed his seat amid applause . The VV . M ., on rising to respond , svas heartily cheered . He said he rose svith a great amount of pride and pleasure to thank Bro . Beeson For his eloquent address , and them for their cordial reception of the toast . He felt sure that he did not deserve half such praise . VVhen the brcther on his immediate right , Bro . Heasman , svho he might also call
Ir . s " father " in Masonry , spoke to him , after his initiation , he said , " Do you svant and intendjto be a svorking Mason ?" he ( the VV . AI . ) said "Yes , I do , " and from that moment he resolved to reach the chair he then occupied , and he had Bro . Heasman and the Past Masters to thank for the hearty support and encouragement they had always given him in his efforts . It svas a difficult task to follosv such Past Alasters , but he svould try during the tenure of his
office to be svorthy of the confidence reposed in hi m . It svas one of the proudest moments of his life to have achieved a position that so many covet , and so fesv obtain . He svas proud to say that so far as regards Charity , the lodge svas at the top of the tree in the province , for at the last Festival of the "Old People ' s" Institution , out of some tsventy lodges in the province , theirs took up the most money ; it spoke svell for their Charity , and he trusted
to see even better results in future . He concluded b y thanking them most earnestly for their hearty good svishes , and resumed his seat amid every demonstration of esteem on the part of the brethren . The Worshipful Master then proposed "The Health of Bro . Beeson , I . P . M ., " and presented a handsome Past Master's jesvel , of the value of ten guineas , to him , as a token of the brethren ' s respect and regard , and in pinning it on his breast , svished him many years of health to svear
it , and adorn the lodge by his presence . Bro . Beeson , in returning thanks , said his heart and soul svere in Alasonry and irithe prosperity of the lodge , and thanked the brethren for their handsome and valuable present , svhich he should treasure as long as he lived . He congratulated the lodge on its Charity and success , and hoped to live to see his tsvo sons initiated in the Liberty of Havering Lodge , and further announced , amid applause , that he intended to stand as Stesvard for the '" Boys " next
year . Bro . Heasman responded for "The Past Alasters , " and in the course of a capital speech , thanked Bro . White for giving svay to him in the matter of the installation , especially as Bro . Burroughs svas his osvn child in Masonry , svho he sasv initiated , and had knosvn so intimately and long as a private friend . " The Visitors " svere toasted , and Bros . Scales , Jolly ,
Wells , Edmonds , Emblen , and Scarrough responded . Bro . White , in response for "The Alasonic Charities , " gave the following account of the magnificent svork done for Charity by the lodge . He had represented the lodge at the Old People ' s Festival for the last four years in succession , and other P . Ms , of the lodge had during the same period represented one or other of the Charities each year , and last year the lodge had a Stesvard at each of the three Festivals . The Charities svere ably and efficiently managed ,
and deserved the hearty support of every Mason , and it svas particularly gratifying to find the brethren of this lodge so svarmly supporting them , and , in conclusion , said that the three Charities svould next year each have a Stesvard from this lodge . VVe must not forget to mention the admirable manner in svhich Bro . Jennings presided at the piano and accompanied the songs , and the proceedings , svhich svere of a most enthusiastic and harmonious character , concluded svith the " National Anthem . "

VV . Leaver , J . C . Leaver , and E . C Holdssvorth being present , svere initiated into Freemasonry according to ancient rite , the ceremony in each case being performed separately in a most impressive manner , the charge being aftersvards given . Surrey , be elected honorary members .

Price to hear of the svay in svhich the svorking of the lodge to svhich he had given his name was being carried on .
Bro . Saxelby spoke of the pleasure it had been to the recommending lodge ( the East Surrey Lodge of Concord ) to be of service to a lodge bearing the honoured name of George Price . Bro . W . G . G . VV .

Bro . Saxelby spoke of the pleasure it had been to the recommending lodge ( the East Surrey Lodge of Concord ) to be of service to a lodge bearing the honoured name of George Price . Bro . W . G .
