After the confirmation of the minutes of the preceding convocation Comp . Sillitoe installed Comps . J . Brooks , Z . ; W . Haigh , Janitor ; the other officers being unavoidably absent . Some routine business was next dispatched , after which the lodge was closed .
The companions adjourned to a recherche banquet , provided by Comp . and Mrs . Startop , the worthy host and hostess . The newly-installed M . E . Z ., Comp . Brookes , presided . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were suitabl y proposed and responded to . Comp . Sillitoe in proposing " The Newly-Installed Principals " referred to the services rendered to Royal Arch Masonry by Comp . Brookes , with whom he had worked as
a Provincial Grand Officer , and further remarked that it had never before fallen to his lot to install father and son in the chairs of H . and J . After the response of the Principals Comp . Startop proposed "The Health of Comp . Sillitoe , the Installing Principal" and tendered to him the hearty thanks of the members of that chapter for the able assistance he had rendered to them that evening . They were all aware of the great
demand there was upon the time and services of Comp . Sillitoe from one end of the province to the other , as well as in the adjoining provinces , which enhanced the value of his presence amongst them . The toast was received with hearty applause . Comp . Sillitoe briefly replied , to leave hurriedly to catch a train . Other toasts followed , and as is usual in this chapter a most enjoyable evening was brought to a happy termination .
WANDERERS CHAPTER ( No . 1604 ) . —A convocation of this chapter was held at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen-street , on Tuesday , the 17 th inst . Owing to the extra amount of business to be transacted , the members were summoned to attend at four o ' clock , Comps . C . Smith , M . E . Z ., Geo . Boulton , H ., and Wm . Vincent , J ., having opened the chapter , the minutes of the January convocation were read , confirmed and signed . The M . E . Z .
then drew attention to the report drawn up by the Audit Committee appointed at the previous meeting . The statement which showed a marked improvement in the financial position of the chapter was adopted . A successful ballot was afterwards taken for Bros . Arthur Woods , P . M . of 1853 , and Wm . George Hanson , P . M . of 59 . The candidates having been entrusted were duly exalted to the Degree . Bro . Edward Kensington of the first mentioned
lodge who had been approved at the last convocation was admitted at the same time . The installation of Principals and investiture of officers for the ensuing 12 months were next proceeded with , Ex . Comp . Vincent , well known for the ability he has displayed in Craft and Royal Arch Masonry , inducted into omcp Ex . Comp . Geo . Boulton , the M . E . Z . elect , and Comp . F . J . VVray , the Third Principal elect . The Installing Z ., who had recently
passed the First Chair in the hccleston Chapter , ivas placed in the Second Chair and invested by the new M . E . Z . The following officers were invested , each being addressed in suitable terms : Comps . VV . H . Baker , S . E . ; T . Griffiths , S . N . ; Chas . Fuller , Treas . ; J . Gibson , P . Soj . ; Capt . F . Butterworth , 1 st Assist . Soj . ; Edward Seale , 2 nd Assist . Soj . ; and J . Lackland , Janitor . Ex . Comp . Vincent completed his work as Installing Z . by delivering with much
earnestness an address on the objects of the institution , an address which was greatly appreciated by all present . Two brethren were proposed for exaltation and " Hearty good wishes " tendered by the visitors . The chapter was then closed and the brethren adjourned to Freemasons' Tavern , where an excellent banquet was served . "The Queen and Royal Arch Freemasonry , " "The
Prince of Wales , " " The Earl of Carnarvon , " The Earl of Lathom , " " Lord de Tabley , and the rest of the Grand Officers Present and Past " were duly honoured . Ex . Comp . C . Smith , I . P . Z ., rose and said that he had to submit to the companions a toast , which he believed would be received with the greatest favour . The toast he had the privilege to propose was " The Health of the M . E . Z . " He took the opportunity of congratulating the
members on the circumstance of their having appointed Ez . Comp . Boulton to the first chair , the duties of which he felt confident would be performed in a very efficient manner . The M . E . Z ., as the companions were aware , had filled the chairs of H . and J . with much credit , and had by his courteous bearing won the esteem of everyone with whom he had been associated . He ( Comp . Smith ) was convinced that the interests of the chapter would be well
maintained . The toast was heartily received . Ex . Comp . Boulton thanked the companions for the honour they had done him by placing him in the chair as First Principal , and assured them that he would endeavour to deserve their confidence . He felt indeed proud of the distinction , and they might rely upon his efforts to sustain the credit of the chapter .
The toast of 'The Exaltees" was next ( given . The M . E . Z . in the course of his remarks said that without the introduction of new members the institution would gradually come to an end . He was very pleased to have assisted that evening in the exaltation of Bros . Kensington , Woods , and Hanson , and on a previous occasion of Bros . Brindley , Musson , and Ogg . From the interest all had taken in the Craft he was led to believe that they would extend the
same active support to Royal Arch Freemasonry . The toast was dul y honoured and responded to . The M . E . Z . in giving the toast of "The P . Z . 's of the Chapter" stated that Comp . Smith , the l . P . Z ., had discharged the duties of Principal Sojourner and of each chair in a praiseworth y manner . He was indebted to him for the assistance received at different times in ceremonial work ; and he had much gratification in carrying out the
wishes of the members by presenting to him a P . Z . 's jewel as a mark of esteem . The M . E . Z . in placing the jewel upon the breast of Ex . Comp . Smith expressed a fervent hope that the l . P . Z . might long be spared to wear it . Ex . Comp . Smith , who evidently felt these expressions of fraternal friendship , thanked the companions for the
cordial way in which they had received the toast , and said that he was very g lad to hnd that he had carried out his several duties to their entire satisfaction . He thanked them also for the handsome jewel that had been presented as a memento of their goodwill towards him . The token would always remind him of the many happy evenings he had passed in their company-

Ex . Comp . T . H . Meredith , P . Z ., in a neat address signified his readiness to further the interests of the chapter in every possible way . The next toast on the list was "The Visitors . " This was responded to by the companions in attendance , some very encouraging observations being made upon the manner in which the affairs of the chapter are conducted . , The M . E . Z . gave the toastof " H . and J . " ( Ex . Comps .
Vincent and VVray ) and referred to the energy and perseverance shown by Ex . Comp . Vincent in acquiring the details of the several offices he had filled . The installation ceremony had that evening been performed in a highly dignified and solemn style . The M . E . Z . also alluded to the experience of Ex . Comp . VVray , and congratulated him on his accession to the post of J . The compliment was acknowledged by both Principals .
" The Scribes " " Treasurer " ; and other " Officers of the Chapter" were afterwards honoured . The Janitor having given the well-known final toast , the companions separated . ALDERSHOT— Aldershot Lodge ( No . 54 ) . — This lodge met at the Masonic Hall on the 19 th inst ., when there were present Bros . Eve , P . M ., P . G . W ., as W . M . ( pro tern . ) ; Major Douglas , P . M ., P . P . G . O ., as S . VV . ; Captain Croisdale , P . G . b ., as J . W . ; Stone , P . G . R ., as M . O . ; Harrison , S . D . ; Adnett , I . G . ; Denn , Cox , and several others .
The lodge was opened in accordance with ancient rites , and Bros . Taylor and Harris balloted for and approved , and being in attendance were advanced to the Degree of a Mark Master in a very able manner by Bro . Eve , who at short notice undertook the duty in consequence of the unavoidable absence of the W . M ., Bro . Kirchoffer , P . G . W . Hants and Isle of Wight . There being no other
ceremonial business to transact the brethren proceeded to elect a W . M ., Treasurer , and Tyler for the ensuing year , which resulted unanimously in favour of Bros . Capt . Croisdale as W . M . ; Eve , as Treasurer ; and Burns , as Tyler . The Worshipful Master elect expressed his obligations for the honour paid to him , and for the kind manner in which his past services had been appreciated ; and in the course of his observations said it would ever be his constant labour
to promote the best interests of the lodge , and to discharge the onerous duties of the chair with credit to himself and with satisfaction to the brethren . He also earnestly expressed a hope that he would be as successful in the tuturc as he appeared to have been in the past in securing their confidence and support . 'lhe sum of £ 5 5 s . was then voted as a donation to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , and after the transaction of other routine business the lodge was closed .
KEYNSHAM . —Carnarvon Lodge ( No . 119 ) . — The installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Lamb and Lark Hotel on Thursday evening , the 12 th inst . MARYPORT . —Whitwell Lodge ( No . 151 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held at the Freemasons' Hall , on the iSth inst . Present : Bros . G . VV . Thompson , VV . M ., P . G . K . ofM . ; A . The lodge was duly opened in the usual manner , the minutes ot the previous meeting were read and confirmed . According to notice of motion the sum of one guinea was voted from the funds of the lodge to the Mark benevolent Fund and placed upon the list of VV . Bro . Dalrymple . ( the Prov . Grand Secretary ) on his serving as Steward at the ensuing festival , which having been seconded was put and
agreed to . In a neat speech the VV . M . intimated that his year of office was nearly finished , and that it would be the duty of the members at the next regular meeting to elect his successor , also Treasurer and a Tyler ; and said he regretted that there was no work to be done that evening . The lodge room looked very nice , and the new lodge
banner was very much admired . It is of light sky-blue silk ; at the top is a scroll bearing the name and number of the lodge ; below , on a white keystone , the coat of arms , with the motto "Sola virtus invicta" of the late respected Deputy Provincial Grand Mark Master of Cumberland and Westmorland Colonel John

Also we noticed the mark of a distinguished brother artistically shown , thus showing the connection existing between the lodge and Bro . Jos . Nicholson , P . P . G . S . W ., who was the founder and first W . M . of the lodge , and who we believe is one of the oldest Mark Masons in the province , still well-known to fame , and
doing all in his power to further the interests of Freemasonry , especially the Mark Degree . The banner was supplied by Bro . George Kenning , of London , from a small wax impression of design of crest , kindly procured for the members of the lodge by W . Bro . G . J . McKay , P . G . S . M . D . of England , and the smallness of the cos' : of the banner was a matter of surprise to many of the brethren . The proceedings passed off very enjoyably .
PRINCE LEOPOLD LODGE ( No . 238 ) . — This lodge met for the dispatch of business at Anderton ' s Hotel on the 17 th inst . Among those in attendance were Bros . Richnell , P . P . G . S . B . cordial way in which they had received the toast , and said that he was very g lad to hnd that he had carried out his several duties to their entire satisfaction . Ex . Comp . T . H . Meredith , P . Z ., in a neat address signified his readiness to further the interests of the chapter in every possible way . The next toast on the list was "The Visitors . " This was responded to by the companions in attendance , some very encouraging observations being made upon the manner in which the affairs of the chapter are conducted . , The M . E . Z . gave the toastof " H . and J . " ( Ex . Comps .
Vincent and VVray ) and referred to the energy and perseverance shown by Ex . Comp . Vincent in acquiring the details of the several offices he had filled . The installation ceremony had that evening been performed in a highly dignified and solemn style . The M . E . Z . also alluded to the experience of Ex . Comp . VVray , and congratulated him on his accession to the post of J . The compliment was acknowledged by both Principals .
" The Scribes " " Treasurer " ; and other " Officers of the Chapter" were afterwards honoured . The Janitor having given the well-known final toast , the companions separated . The lodge was opened in accordance with ancient rites , and Bros . Taylor and Harris balloted for and approved , and being in attendance were advanced to the Degree of a Mark Master in a very able manner by Bro . Eve , who at short notice undertook the duty in consequence of the unavoidable absence of the W . M ., Bro . Kirchoffer , P . G . W . Hants and Isle of Wight . There being no other
ceremonial business to transact the brethren proceeded to elect a W . M ., Treasurer , and Tyler for the ensuing year , which resulted unanimously in favour of Bros . Capt . Croisdale as W . M . ; Eve , as Treasurer ; and Burns , as Tyler . The Worshipful Master elect expressed his obligations for the honour paid to him , and for the kind manner in which his past services had been appreciated ; and in the course of his observations said it would ever be his constant labour
to promote the best interests of the lodge , and to discharge the onerous duties of the chair with credit to himself and with satisfaction to the brethren . He also earnestly expressed a hope that he would be as successful in the tuturc as he appeared to have been in the past in securing their confidence and support . According to notice of motion the sum of one guinea was voted from the funds of the lodge to the Mark benevolent Fund and placed upon the list of VV . Bro . Dalrymple . ( the Prov . Grand Secretary ) on his serving as Steward at the ensuing festival , which having been seconded was put and
agreed to . In a neat speech the VV . M . intimated that his year of office was nearly finished , and that it would be the duty of the members at the next regular meeting to elect his successor , also Treasurer and a Tyler ; and said he regretted that there was no work to be done that evening . The lodge room looked very nice , and the new lodge
banner was very much admired . It is of light sky-blue silk ; at the top is a scroll bearing the name and number of the lodge ; below , on a white keystone , the coat of arms , with the motto "Sola virtus invicta" of the late respected Deputy Provincial Grand Mark Master of Cumberland and Westmorland Colonel John

Also we noticed the mark of a distinguished brother artistically shown , thus showing the connection existing between the lodge and Bro . Jos . Nicholson , P . P . G . S . W ., who was the founder and first W . M . of the lodge , and who we believe is one of the oldest Mark Masons in the province , still well-known to fame , and
doing all in his power to further the interests of Freemasonry , especially the Mark Degree . The banner was supplied by Bro . George Kenning , of London , from a small wax impression of design of crest , kindly procured for the members of the lodge by W . Bro . G . J . McKay , P . G . S . M . D . of England , and the smallness of the cos' : of the banner was a matter of surprise to many of the brethren . The proceedings passed off very enjoyably .

congratulated the Lhorley brethren in forming the Lawrence Mark Lodge , wishing it every success , and should assistance at any time be wanted he felt sure that the Mark brethren of the Rose and Thistle Lodge would willingly do all in their power to further the cause of Mark Masonry in Chorley .
