He has been six times Steward of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution ; six times for the Girls' School , and twice for the

Boys' School . He is also Prov . Prior of West Yorkshire , a member of the 30 th Degree and of theTalbot Chapter Rose Croix , Sheffield ; also of the Red Cross of Babylon , and various lodges and Masonic bodies . In 1 S 75 Bro . Tew organised a special train from Yorkshire , and brought up 300 brethren at hfs own cost to attend the installation of the Prince of Wales as Grand Master . Bro . Tew , who was originally educated as a civil engineer , is now

well-known as a banker at Pontefract , connected with the old and respected firm of Leatham and Tew , Wakefield . He is a member of various scientific and social associations , especially the West Yorkshire Geological Society . Bro . Tew delivered addresses before the British Association at York at the Masonic reception , and is well known for his scientific attainments . Bro .

Tew is descended from an old Yorkshire family , and is fully proficient in all Masonic lore and work . He has acted as Deputy Prov . Grand Master of West Yorkshire , under Bro . Sir H . Edwards , Bart ., since 1875 . As is well known the province he thus rules over is second to none in England for its Masonic zeal and its charitable efforts .

THOMAS HARRIS DEVONSHIRE , Grand Deacon , is a Mason of considerably over 30 years standing , having been initiated in 1 849 in tne Chigwell Lodge , No . 453 , Chingford , Essex . In due course he rose to the chair and was elected W . M . two years in succession , 1854-5 . He is also a

Past Provincial Grand Senior Deacon of Essex . In 1859 he joined the Royal Somerset House and Inverness Lodge , No . 4 , served as W . M . in 1865 and was Treasurer of the lodge for the ten years ending in 1880 . He is likewise a Past Grand Steward of England . Bro . Devonshire by profession is a solicitor .

The year following he took part in the foundation of the Prince Leopold Lodge , No . 1445 , and was its W . Master 1874-5 . He is also a founder and Past Master of the Elliot Lodge , No . 1567 , and of the Alliance Lodge , No . 1827 , and became a joining member of the British Lodge , No . 8 , in 1878 . He was exalted to the Royal

Arch Degree in the Doric Chapter , No . 933 , on the 16 th September , 1873 , and was elected M . E . Z . of the Stability Chapter , No . 217 , in 1879 , and of the British Chapter , No . 8 , last year . Six years ago he was elected to serve on the Board of General Purposes , and is and has been for the past three years its Vice-President . He has taken a great interest in all our charitable institutions , having constituted himself a Life Governor of each , besides

having acted in the capacity of Steward at several of their anniversary festivals , the Girls' School having , in this respect , found most favour with him . In Civic circles Bro . Frank Green is highly respected as an active member of the Common Council , and is likewise one of the City Commissioners of Sewers , a body to which very important public functions are entrusted .

R . H . the Duke of Connaught , Past Grand Senior Warden . He is

likewise a Past Grand Steward of England . In the Royal Arch Degree he is a P . Z . of the Bard of Avon Chapter , No . 77 S , Hampton Court , and P . S . of the Prince of Wales Chapter , No . 259 . He has been advanced to the Mark Degree , and is a P . G . O . of the Mark Grand Lodge of England " and Wales , & c . Bro . W . Master of the Thames Valley Lodge , No . 14 G 0 , and in 1878 was rewarded for his zeal b y being appointed Provincial Grand Junior Warden of Middlesex . He has been exalted to the Royal Arch Degree and is a member of the Burdett Chapter , No . 1293 , Hampton Court , and the Westminster and Keystone Chapter , No . 10 . In the Masonicand Military Order of Knights of Rome and of the Red Cross of Constantino , he holds the office of Grand Examiner , and as such is a member of the Grand Senate ,

while in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite he has taken the 30 . For the last eight years he has served on the House Committee of the Girls ' School , of which institution he is a vice-patron , besides having acted as Steward at several of its anniversary festivals . He has served in the latter capacity for both the Boys' School and the Benevolent Institution , and has further illustrated his interest in these charities by enrolling himself among the Life Governors of both of them .

M . ot the Marquess of Ripon Lodge , No . 1489 , the present being his second year of service in the latter capacity ; a joining member and Past Master of the Unity Lodge , No . 1637 ; and one of the founders of the Earl of Carnarvon Lodge , No . 1642 , and its first Steward at the festival of the Girls' School . He was appointed Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies Middlesex in 1879 , and Provincial Grand Senior Deacon last year . In

For many years he has served on the Committee of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and also on the Board of Benevolence , Board of General Purposes , and General Committeeof Grand Chapter . He is a Vice-President of the Benevolent Institution and Life Governor of both Schools , while the office of Festival Steward to one or other of the Charities has been filled by him on as many as eleven different occasions .
