Work being ended , the brethren adjourned to refreshment , and Bro . E . Delacoste , the ever-courteous manager , certainly surpassed himself on this occasion .
The usual toasts vvere honoured vvith more than ordinary enthusiasm , so much so that the brother on whom vve generally rely for a -i csume of the speeches forgot all about his duties , and hence vve are very sorry vve cannot give the speech of Bro . F . A . Philbrick , G . Reg ., in response to " The Health of the GrandOfficers . " Hequite carried his audience , his remarks vvere repeatedly cheered , and he sat down amid
great applause . The toast of "The Visitors " vvas also heartily received , as were the answers of Bros . J . Castello , W . M . 227 , and M . J . Jessop , P . M . 2265 , who responded . Altogether a most pleasant evening vvas spent , and the ** Macons pauvres et malheureux " vvere not forgotten , as testified by the contents of the alms box .

The minutes of the last meeting having been read , Bro . F . C . Smith vvas examined and entrusted , and Bro . Smith vvas duly raised . A motion was brought forward for the best method of establishing a Benevolent Fund for the lodge , which vvas adjourned till thc next regular meeting .

The W . M . then , on behalf of thebrethren , presented an exceedingly handsome Past Master ' s jewel to Bro . J . C . Stackhouse , the Installing Master , and spoke in flattering terms of the very successful manner in which he had conducted the lodge during the past year , and of his
able rendering of the Masonic ritual . Bro . Stackhouse suitably acknowledged the present , and assured the brethren that he should always do his best in thc future as he had done in the past to further the interests of Masonry in the Temperance Lodge . A candidate having been proposed for initiation by Bro . Taylor , the lodge was closed after " Hearty good wishes " had been given , and a suitable march vvas played on the organ by Bro . Thomason as the brethren left the lodge room in procession .
An excellent banquet was afterwards served , at which the new W . M . presided in a most able and genial manner , and subsequently gave the toast of " The Oueen and the Craft . "
Provincial Meetings.
The toast vvas enthusiastically received , and vvas followed by the National Anthem . Bro . Stackhouse then called upon the brethren to receive with equal cordiality the toast of "H . R . H . the Prince of VVales , M . W . G . M ., " and urged that he was a man who would have won distinction in any sphere of life , irrespective of his exalted rank , and that if the office of M . W . G . M .
was worthy of a son of our Queen , the Prince of Wales was equally worthy of the office . The toast having been duly honoured by the brethren , the VV . M . proposed " The Earl of Lathom and the rest of the Grand Officers , " and regretted that two of the latter whom he had hoped would have been present were unavoidably absent .
Bro . Wilkinson , in enthusiastic and eloquent terms , proposed " The Health of Lord Leigh , P . G . M . of Warwickshire , " and the W . M . followed vvith the toast of "The Provincial Grand Officers . " These toasts vvere cordially received by the brethren , and the latter one responded to by Bro . Colonel Cox , P . G . Treas ., and Bro . Srawley , the former of whom bore testimony to the good work done in
the Temperance Lodge , and the pleasure it gave him to witness the good feeling which existed amongst its members . The toast of " The W . M . " was given in kindly terms by the S . VV ., and suitably acknowledged . The W . M . then gave the toast of "The Visitors , " which vvas responded to by Bros . Tidmarsh , Harris , Bastick , Jenkins , and Everard , all of whom bore testimony to the
fraternal welcome which they had received , and expressed in the most eulogistic terms their appreciation of the conduct of the W . M . in the chair , and of the very admirable manner in which the I . P . M . had installed him . The remaining toasts of " The Installing Master , " " Past Masters , " and " The Officers " having been duly proposed and responded to , the Tyler ' s toast brought the
proceedings to a close . lt should be added that the musical arrangements , which were on an unusually extensive scale , and included several concerted pieces , both vocal and instrumental , were under the direction of Bro . W . K . Thomason , the popular Organist of the lodge , Bros . Skevington , Bancroft , Brampton , Adcock , Campion , Laughton , Sampson , and J . F . Thomason , Mus . Bac , assisting him .

The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed , the Treasurer ' s statement and balancesheet for the past year , which had been postponed from the installation meeting , was considered and adopted . In pursuance of the lodge by-laws , the Treasurer submitted his estimate of the assets and liabilities for the current year . Mr . A . E . Harris , who
had been duly elected at the previous meeting , was then initiated by the W . M . in a satisfactory manner , the working tools being explained by Bro . Niven , J . VV ., and the charge was delivered by Bro . Wilson , P . M ., Prov . G . Steward . The name of a gentleman was submitted for initiation , and apologies received for unavoidable absence from absent brethren , after which "Hearty good wishes "
vvere tendered from the visitors and brethren , and the lodge vvas closed . At refreshment which followed the toastof " The Initiate " vvas proposed , and Bro . Harris responded in suitable terms . The toast of " The Visitors " vvas responded to by Bro . Bull , P . M . 750 , who expressed the pleasure it had afforded him and the S . VV , of his lodge to journey from a
neighbouring town and visit the lodge , and he complimented the VV . M . on the admirable manner in which the business and ceremonies of the lodge had been conducted . He also took the opportunity of addressing some appropriate remarks to the initiate . The harmony of the evening vvas promoted by songs and recitations from Bros . Auty , VV . M . j Geo . Niven , and J . B . Fearnley .
EAST MOSELEY . Frederick West Lodge ( No . 2222 ) . —At an emergency meeting , held on the iSth inst ., at the Castle Hotel , Bro . David Hughes , W . M ., had full opportunity of exhibiting his knowledge of the ritual , and he worked all the
Degrees in a perfect and impressive manner . Having two Past Masters in the Wardens' chairs who are equally proficient , the working was highly edifying' . The party at the banquet , which vvas served as Bro . Maye so well knows how to serve a repast , was partaken of by 22 members .
HAMPTON COURT . Bushey Park Lodge ( No . 2381 ) . —The first regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Greyhound Hotel , on Saturday , the 15 th instant , when the following were present : Bros . Provincial Meetings.
HEATON MOOR . Prince Edward Lodge ( No . 2109 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge vvas held at the Assembly Hall , on Thursday , the 13 th inst . The lodge vvas opened by Bro . Edwin Barton , W . M ., and the minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the Grand and Prov . Grand Officers were admitted and saluted . The chair vvas then occupied by Bro . E . Broadbent , I . P . M .,
who conducted the ceremony of raising Bro . J . R . A . Smith in such a capable and interesting manner that all present expressed themselves highly delighted . The charge vvas also beautifully rendered by Bro . J . H . Wells , P . M . It is seldom vve have visited a lodge where the rooms are better adapted for the purpose , and the furnishing of the lodge seems complete . It is a lodge which appears to have
flourished very rapidly since its formation , we believe , in 1886 , and the very energetic Charity representative , Bro . Wells , P . M ., has done good service to the various Charities . During this short period it has given upwards of £ 200 to Charities , and at the present time holds about 120 votes in the various Institutions . In addition to this great achievement , it has connected vvith it a Masonic library , vvith a fair
collection of books , & c , and a special room is set apart for its members , who meet every Wednesday and Saturday evening ; indeed , they possess some very old Masonic works , and at the present time are making a collection of summonses from every lodge under the English Constitution , and these are all arranged in books according to numbers , many hundreds already having been obtained

M ., opened the lodge , but the work expected—that of raising Bro . Goodwin —fell through , owing to a serious illness at his home . The W . M . employed the time well in opening up and closing
down—ceremonies too often neglected . It being the night of election of the W . M ., a unanimous vote put Bro . F . J . Hayward , S . VV ., in the proud position of VV . M . elect . Bro . J . Drewett , P . M ., was in like manner re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . Gilbert again put into the office of Tyler . A Past Master ' s jewel vvas voted to Bro . Colbron as a memento of

The W . M . then , on behalf of thebrethren , presented an exceedingly handsome Past Master ' s jewel to Bro . J . C . Stackhouse , the Installing Master , and spoke in flattering terms of the very successful manner in which he had conducted the lodge during the past year , and of his
able rendering of the Masonic ritual . Bro . Stackhouse suitably acknowledged the present , and assured the brethren that he should always do his best in thc future as he had done in the past to further the interests of Masonry in the Temperance Lodge . A candidate having been proposed for initiation by Bro . Taylor , the lodge was closed after " Hearty good wishes " had been given , and a suitable march vvas played on the organ by Bro . Thomason as the brethren left the lodge room in procession .
An excellent banquet was afterwards served , at which the new W . M . presided in a most able and genial manner , and subsequently gave the toast of " The Oueen and the Craft . "
Provincial Meetings.
The toast vvas enthusiastically received , and vvas followed by the National Anthem . Bro . Stackhouse then called upon the brethren to receive with equal cordiality the toast of "H . R . H . the Prince of VVales , M . W . G . M ., " and urged that he was a man who would have won distinction in any sphere of life , irrespective of his exalted rank , and that if the office of M . W . G . M .
was worthy of a son of our Queen , the Prince of Wales was equally worthy of the office . The toast having been duly honoured by the brethren , the VV . M . proposed " The Earl of Lathom and the rest of the Grand Officers , " and regretted that two of the latter whom he had hoped would have been present were unavoidably absent .
Bro . Wilkinson , in enthusiastic and eloquent terms , proposed " The Health of Lord Leigh , P . G . M . of Warwickshire , " and the W . M . followed vvith the toast of "The Provincial Grand Officers . " These toasts vvere cordially received by the brethren , and the latter one responded to by Bro . Colonel Cox , P . G . Treas ., and Bro . Srawley , the former of whom bore testimony to the good work done in
the Temperance Lodge , and the pleasure it gave him to witness the good feeling which existed amongst its members . The toast of " The W . M . " was given in kindly terms by the S . VV ., and suitably acknowledged . The W . M . then gave the toast of "The Visitors , " which vvas responded to by Bros . Tidmarsh , Harris , Bastick , Jenkins , and Everard , all of whom bore testimony to the
fraternal welcome which they had received , and expressed in the most eulogistic terms their appreciation of the conduct of the W . M . in the chair , and of the very admirable manner in which the I . P . M . had installed him . The remaining toasts of " The Installing Master , " " Past Masters , " and " The Officers " having been duly proposed and responded to , the Tyler ' s toast brought the
proceedings to a close . lt should be added that the musical arrangements , which were on an unusually extensive scale , and included several concerted pieces , both vocal and instrumental , were under the direction of Bro . W . K . Thomason , the popular Organist of the lodge , Bros . Skevington , Bancroft , Brampton , Adcock , Campion , Laughton , Sampson , and J . F . Thomason , Mus . Bac , assisting him .

The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed , the Treasurer ' s statement and balancesheet for the past year , which had been postponed from the installation meeting , was considered and adopted . In pursuance of the lodge by-laws , the Treasurer submitted his estimate of the assets and liabilities for the current year . Mr . A . E . Harris , who
had been duly elected at the previous meeting , was then initiated by the W . M . in a satisfactory manner , the working tools being explained by Bro . Niven , J . VV ., and the charge was delivered by Bro . Wilson , P . M ., Prov . G . Steward . The name of a gentleman was submitted for initiation , and apologies received for unavoidable absence from absent brethren , after which "Hearty good wishes "
vvere tendered from the visitors and brethren , and the lodge vvas closed . At refreshment which followed the toastof " The Initiate " vvas proposed , and Bro . Harris responded in suitable terms . The toast of " The Visitors " vvas responded to by Bro . Bull , P . M . 750 , who expressed the pleasure it had afforded him and the S . VV , of his lodge to journey from a
neighbouring town and visit the lodge , and he complimented the VV . M . on the admirable manner in which the business and ceremonies of the lodge had been conducted . EAST MOSELEY . Frederick West Lodge ( No . 2222 ) . —At an emergency meeting , held on the iSth inst ., at the Castle Hotel , Bro . David Hughes , W . M ., had full opportunity of exhibiting his knowledge of the ritual , and he worked all the
Degrees in a perfect and impressive manner . Having two Past Masters in the Wardens' chairs who are equally proficient , the working was highly edifying' . The party at the banquet , which vvas served as Bro . Maye so well knows how to serve a repast , was partaken of by 22 members .

HEATON MOOR . Prince Edward Lodge ( No . 2109 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge vvas held at the Assembly Hall , on Thursday , the 13 th inst . The lodge vvas opened by Bro . Edwin Barton , W . M ., and the minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the Grand and Prov . Grand Officers were admitted and saluted . The chair vvas then occupied by Bro . E . Broadbent , I . P . M .,
who conducted the ceremony of raising Bro . J . R . A . Smith in such a capable and interesting manner that all present expressed themselves highly delighted . The charge vvas also beautifully rendered by Bro . J . H . Wells , P . M . It is seldom vve have visited a lodge where the rooms are better adapted for the purpose , and the furnishing of the lodge seems complete . It is a lodge which appears to have
flourished very rapidly since its formation , we believe , in 1886 , and the very energetic Charity representative , Bro . Wells , P . M ., has done good service to the various Charities . During this short period it has given upwards of £ 200 to Charities , and at the present time holds about 120 votes in the various Institutions . In addition to this great achievement , it has connected vvith it a Masonic library , vvith a fair
collection of books , & c , and a special room is set apart for its members , who meet every Wednesday and Saturday evening ; indeed , they possess some very old Masonic works , and at the present time are making a collection of summonses from every lodge under the English Constitution , and these are all arranged in books according to numbers , many hundreds already having been obtained
