Three propositions were received for new members , and as at least two others are standing over for raising there will be ample work at the Lodge's meeting for the new Master to perform , but everyone feels perfectly persuaded he will satisfactorily overcome any difficulty .
After the Lodge was closed , the Brethren adjourned to the King ' s Arms Hotel for the banquet , for which Bro . G . E . Startup catered splendidly , the table in the large ball room being very
tastefully decorated . A most unusual sight was a very large fire in the centre of the room , the weather being very inclement—more resembling January than May . Everyone enjoyed themselves splendidly .
The W . M . gave the toasts of H . M . the Queen , the Prince of Wales M . W . G . M . and the rest of the Royal Family , and the whole assembly joined in singing " God save the Queen " and " God

Bro . Joseph Bulkwill P . M . in proposing the Officers of Duncombe Lodge stated they were good men and true , able and worthy to assist in the work . He looked to see Duncombe Lodge again resume its place in showing a correct and alluring ceremony as of yore .

Chase and Hooper , who had unexpectedly been called on to assist , had carried out the work in a model manner . Bro . H . S . Nicholls in toasting the Past Masters dilated on the
advantages of Lodges of Instruction , and sincerely hoped the Past Masters would cheerfully assist in helping the Officers to carry out the ceremonies in a befitting manner . Bro . George Hooper , in responding for the Charities , spoke of the immense strides made in the last few years by all the branches .
He was delighted to see that Devon was rising to the occasion , as besides having established a Fortescue Annuity Fund for Aged Masons of Devon , and an Educational Fund for young children's advancement in life , it had lately established an Aged Widows ' Fund , which had sufficient promise of accomplishing a useful work .
The Visitors , Bros . Saunders and Oldreive of Lodge Hanley , No . 797 , Dartmouth , and Bro . L . de Courcy Harston , of Lodge St . John , Perth , Western Australia , congratulated the W .
