Latham has a very sympathetic voice , and gave eloquent expression to the grand ritual , after which the first section of the lecture was rehearsed by Bro . Pitt , assisted by the Brethren .

At the little social supper which concluded the evening ' s instruction Bro . Simeons W . M . of the Mother Lodge , in a few well chosen words , proposed the health of the Queen and was heartily joined by all .

Stock J . W ., J . Cowell P . M . Prec , D . McNish P . M . Sec , B . Gibhardt S . D ., D . B . Thomas J . D ., W . J . Andrews I . G ., Mclnnes ( Johannesburg ) , J . Wynman , and several others .

After the usual formalities Bro . Innes was examined and prepared as a candidate for raising , and that ceremony was rehearsed , after which the Lodge was closed down . Bro . Cowell proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the acting W . M . for the way in which he had fulfilled the duties of the chair for the first time in that Lodge . This was seconded , unanimously agreed to , and suitably acknowledged .

Bro . Cowell , on behalf of the Lodge , gave Bro . Mclnnes a hearty welcome as a visitor , and wished him God speed , and a safe journey on bis return voyage . Bro . Mclnnes thanked the Brethren for their reception , and said he should not fail to tell his Brethren in Johannesburg how heartily he had been received on that occasion . Bro . J . George was chosen to preside on Tuesday next , when we hope he will be well supported .

DALHOUSIE LODGE , No . 865 . AFTER the Bank Holiday the Brethren assembled in strong force to attend to their Masonic duties , on Monday , at Bro . Joel Davis ' s , the Greyhound , Kensington Square , W . On this occasion the chair was taken by Bro . R . Liddiard , who was supported by T . Binfteld S . W ., P . Howard J . W ., Arthur Williams P . M . Prec , 0 . G . Hatt P . M . & c , Treas ., M . Spring Sec , T . E . P . Bell S . D ., T . Lewis J . D ., P . Waters I . G ., F . Cousens P . M ., M . Davis P . M ., A . Sergeant , E . Johnson , H . G . Cox , J . Wynman , T . G . Dyer W . M .-elect 865 , A . R . Vincent , H . J . Seal .

The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , for which Bro . Sergeant acted as candidate . The Lodge was called off and on . Resuming , the W . M . kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Seal , who opened the Lodge in the second degree . Bro . M . Davis P . M . was examined , and having answered the usual questions in a faultless manner , was entrusted . The Lodge was advanced to the third degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed .

We cannot let the opportunity pass without complimenting Bro . Arthur Williams P . M ., & c , for the customary excellent assistance he rendered , and which is at all times so highly appreciated by the Officers . The W . M . having taken his position in the Lodge resumed in the first degree , when Bro . Binfield was elected W . M . for Monday , 25 th inst ., next Monday being Officers ' night , previous to the regular installation meeting , when Bro . T . G . Dyer will be installed as Worshipful Master .

Bro . Arthur Williams P . M . Preceptor , addressing the Brethren , said he had very much pleasure in announcing that he had been for the eighth time elected on the Board of General Purposes , and in a nice little speech thanked the Brethren for their support .

ON Monday , 28 th ult ., Bro . Maurice Davis P . M . of the Thomas-a-Becket Lodge , No . 2754 , was in the chair , and rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Hatt P . M . as the candidate . Then followed the second ceremony , with Bro . Johnson as the candidate . Bro . Williams worked the first section of the lecture . Bros . Alfred Robert Vinceat 2182 , and A . Wareham 2421 were elected members .

Bro . Hatt proposed that Bro . Spring , who had acted as Deputy , be elected to the post of Secretary , a proposition that was carried unanimously . Bro . Spring thanked the members , and promised to do everything in his power in discharge of the duties , of the Office .

, The ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Espezel acting as candidate . The W . M . next rehearsed the third degree , for which ceremony Bro . Genett was accepted as the candidate , and answered the questions prior to being entrusted . The Brethren were delighted with the working of the W . M ., and we may add we have seldom heard it done better . Bro . Burgess was elected to preside at the next meeting .

ON the 21 st ult ., Bro . W . Hann presided , and rehearsed the first ceremony , with Bro . G . E . Genet acting as candidate . He then vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Simeons Secretary , who rehearsed the ceremony , of raising , with Bro . Cawley P . M . as the candidate . Needless to say the third ceremony was most impressively rendered , and we may also compliment Bro . Hann on his performance .
