Nothing daunted , hosvever , by the elements , the party kept on their svay , and reached the spot they set out to see . After spending about
half-an-hour there , and making the best of existing circumstances , the party returned to Arnside , and made for the Crosvn Hotel , where tea had been ordered . After the vain began , it never once ceased till the party svere well under the shelter of the " Crosvn , " and , as maybe imagined , some , if not all of them , got just a little wet , especially about the extremities . With excellent forethought ,
however , the VV . M ., Bro . Shortly aftersvards a capital tea svas spread , for svhich each one svas ready , and heartily enjoyed , the trays being
presided over by tsvo of the senior ladies present . might easily believe that he svas pleased to see their VV . AI . arrive at the apex of his Masonic ambition . therefore , during the time that brother svould have to svait he svould have an opportunity of bringing a lot up . ( Cheers and laughter . ) He congratulated ' the lodge upon having such a Alaster . Years ago Bro . Bernay's characteristics sverc patience , cheerfulness , and loyalty , svithout a single bad quality , and the affectionate regard that existed betsveen them then existed nosv . A good Master attracted good members , and it svas svell to have scientific men to
join in the svork ; it shosved to the outside svorld that they svere not such fools as some of their critics described them , critics svho evidently knesv nothing of them or their principles . He felt proud to be present , and also of the honour dune him , and heartily thanked them for their hospitable reception of the toast . The other toasts svere " The Past Masters , " " Officers , " and Tyler ' s toast , the latter concluding the proceedings .

He congratulated him upon his success in so quickly reaching the position , for he met a brother the other day svho told him that if he svent on at the rate he nosv was going he should be 160 before he reached the chair of his lodge ; svell , it svas said that " hope deferred maketh the heart sick , " and
therefore , during the time that brother svould have to svait he svould have an opportunity of bringing a lot up .
