BRO . HA * RRY S . FOSTER , M . BRO . ROBERT HURNS . A choice souvenir of the connection of Robert Burns with the Craft has been issued by the celebrated " Quatuor Coronati" Lodge , No . 2076 , London . It consists of a most interesting paper on " The Masonic Genius of Robert Burns , " by the distinguished Bro . Dr . B . W . Richardson , who is a member of the " Inner
Circle" of this great literary lodge . The particulars , so industriously collected by the Doctor , are both numerous and most suggestive in character , and they go far to confirm the belief that the world owes much more to Masonry for the publication of Bro . Burns ' poems than has hitherto been acknowledged or even dreamt of . Publishers , printers , and subscribers , were
mainly brethren of the " mystic tie , " and chiefly to their support was the "Immortal Bard" incited to appear in print and collect his inimitable poems . Bro . W . Fred . Vernon has written a most reliable " Addendum , " and is dead against the investment of the bard as Poet Laureate of the Canongate Kilwinning Lodge , No . 2 , Edinburgh , in accord with Bro . W . Officer , P . G . D ., who has evidently put the extinguisher
on that part of the story . There are several illustrations , one especially calling for mention , being a two-page engraving of the investment in question , from the painting by Bro . Watson . The work is beautifully bound in cloth , and may be had for a crown from the Secretary , Bro . G . VV . Speth , Lancaster-place , Margate . We may be assured that all the copies will soon be subscribed for .
