Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
Masonic treat to listen to the masterly way in which this most important subject was treated . It would occupy too much space to give even a brief epitome of the whole of the lecture , it will be sufficient to say that it abounded in useful Masonic information not to be found in technical manuals , and contained many valuable suggestions , which if carried out would
have a tendency to awaken the enthusiasm of those who have become somewhat apathetic , and also renderourlodge meetings fir more entertaining and instructive than they arc at present . He strongly urged the desirability of establishing a Masonic library in connection with the lodge , ¦ which bore practical fruit before the lodge closed , inasmuch as a sum was voted which would enable a beginning to be
made by the purchase of several Masonic works which it was hoped would be of the greatest possible assistance to those who were desirous of being further enlightened as to their individual responsibilities as units in the Craft . At the conclusion of the lecture Bro . Major Douglas , P . M ., P . P . G . S . B ., said they weie much indebted to Bro . Croisdale for the truly Masonic treat he had given them
that evening . He fully concurred with the lecturer , and should be personally very glad if some of his valuable suggestions could be at once carried out ; it was indeed a most lamentable thing to find so many of the brethren hurrying through the several Degrees , and then ceasing to make any further advancement in Masonic knowledge , or endeavouring to master the full
responsibilities which fall upon them as members of their time honoured institution , and they were much indebted tc their worthy brother Captain Croisdale for having so forcibly brought this matter under their notice ; he , therefore , proposed that a vote of thanks should be awarded to him and inscribed on the minutes of the lodge , which having been duly seconded was carried with enthusiasm . Bro . Colonel Richardson , P . M ., P . P . G . D ., promised at
the next regular meeting to deliver an address on "The History , Aims , and Objects of Freemasonry , " and it is hoped there will be a large attendance of the members and visiting brethren , who may expect to derive both instruction and pleasure therefrom , our well-known brother having devoted much time and labour to the study of the Masonic past . Other routine business having been disposed of , the lodge w * s closed about 9 . 30 p . m .

tender for acceptance his resignation of the Treasurership of the lodge , and he requested that step 3 might be taken at once to appoint his successor . The Worshipful Master expressed to Bro . Col . Richardson in a few words of heartfelt thanks' the feeling of the lodge , and in alluding to his past services said that they had been much appreciated by the members generally , inasmuch as they had been , distinguished by scrupulous
accuracy , business like habits , courteous demeanour , and undoubted ability , and he had therefore no hesitation whatever in saying those services had fairly deserved the good will and esteem of every member of the lodge , it was therefore with the deepest regret they accepted his resignation of an office which he had filled with so much credit to himself and with so much advantage to their lodge . Bro . Major Douglas also in a few well chosen words
alluded to the past services of their worthy brother , and in complimenting him on the ability and tact with which he had carried out those duties , said the lodge had heard with regret that he was likely to leave the station very shortly , for they would undoubtedly miss the active support and assistance of their worthy brother , distinguished as he had been , for his readiness at all times to take up any office or duty that night become casually vacant in the lodge .
It was then resolved that Bro . Capt . Croisdale should act as Treasurer " pro tern " until a successor to Bro . Colonel Richardson was elected and installed in his stead . After the transaction of other routine business , Bro . Capt . Croisdale was called upon to deliver his address on " Masonic Education , its aims and objects , " he having promised at their last regular meeting to do so if time admitted .
Bro . Capt . Croisdale then suggested that as the ceremonial and other routine business had occupied their time somewhat longer than usual that evening , he would with their permission postpone the delivery of his address until the next regular meeting , on which occasion it appeared they were not likely to have any ceremonial work to transact , and consequently he would have less hesitation in taking up a small portion of their time in
bringing under their notice a most interesting subject which he felt sure they would concur with him was of vital importance to the future welfare and healthy progress of their time-honoured institution . It may be observed that it is not the custom in this lodge to transact any Masonic business after 10 o ' clock , and it being near that hour the suggestion of Bro . Capt / Croisdale was approved , and the lodge was closed in due form .

and was seen to greater advantage than when temporarily placed in the Memorial Hall . While the brethren were at labour the genial good tempered wife of the W . M ., Mrs . tender for acceptance his resignation of the Treasurership of the lodge , and he requested that step 3 might be taken at once to appoint his successor .
