Jenken was chosen as the Tyler at the next meeting , and at the one held subsequently " he Avas initiated and elected . A the same lodge Bro . Scott ' s " Companion" was ordered to be purchased and kept for the use of the lodge . We believe the first edition of this Avork must have been published during the year
1754 . The dedication in our copy ( second edition 1759 ) is dated December 27 th , 1754 . The next three meetings were unimportant . A Brother Wing from Bristol , and Brother William Trewena , of Redruth , Avere visitors on May 23 rd , 1754 .
June 13 th , 1754 . Deputy Provincial Grand Master in the chair . Bro . George Bell Avas chosen Master for the ensuing half-year , and Bros . Yivyan and Chegwin Avere appointed Wardens . " Bro . Rogers was by ballot chosen Treasurer , and two Stewards were chosen at the same time . " "Bro . Allison Avas
continued Secretary . " Bro . Hill Avas desired to inform Bro . the Eev . William Bai-Iase to favour us with a discourse on St . John's day . No further mention is made of this circumstance so we Avill suppose that the members Avalked in procession to the church , Avith the Constables ancl other important functionaries to
precede them , as heretofore . The feast of St . John the Baptist Avas held on June 2-itli , 1754 , by the members of the Ealmouth , Helstone , Truro , and Redruth Lodges to the number of fifty-two brethren , whose names are recorded by the secretary . Tbe uncommon minute of "No Business" Avas recorded on the 11 th and 25 th July .

Before concluding this article I must thank Bro . D . Murray Lyon , the Masonic historian of Ayr , for favouring me ivith one ofhis "Ears of Wheat" from his inexhaustible cornucopia . On examination it appears to consist of a valuable grain of corn in the
shape of a "Pass Master . " So far as Are are able to judge , the experience and custom of the Ealmouth Lodge is in accordance with the practices of the Avhole of the ancient lodges of England , in only terming a brother a ' Pass Master " who had really
occupied the chair ol a Craft lodge for the usual period . In no case are we aware of any exception to this rule , although in lodges of instruction the term " Instructor " occurs , Avhich Avould correspond to the duties devolving on the officer called a " Pass Master "
referred to by Bro . D . M . Lyon . No doubt a lodge under the English Constitution might appoint an officer by the name of '* Lecture Master " ( which is done by some lodges in the North ); but such would only be honorary , ancl a brother so nominated , unless
otherwise qualified , Avould have no right to Avear a lodge collar , or to be considered as an officer of the lodge in any sense Avhatever . { To " be continued . )

Grand Lodge , that during the past year , a number of the lodges of our jurisdiction have been actively engaged in the noble Avork of succouringthe distressed and suffering Masons , Avhom the casualties of Avar have cast into the prisons a-nd
hospitals , Avith a fraternal ; seal almost unparalleled . The messengers of Masonic charity havo visited prisons and hospitals , in search of their brethren , not only to render physical and material aid , bub to assure them of fraternal sympathy with , their
sufferings . I cannot forbear to speak of the active devotion to this noble Avork , on the part of our esteemed Bro . P . M . LaAvrence Sangston , AA ho , as the agent of a number of the city lodges and individual Masons , has disbursed G 52 dolls .
