eleven o'clock . Bro . Bell ' s year of office has commenced anspioionsly , and there is no doubt that it Avill be one of the most prosperous tho De Grey and Ripon has yet experiened .

Falcon Lodge , No . 1416 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Wednesday , the 14 th of July , at the Masonic Hall , Thirsk . Present—Bros . John Rhodes acting W . M ., John Harker acting S . W ., Geo . Anderson J . W ., T . J . Wilkinson Secretary , William Hall S . D ., R . Atkinson Steward , G . Ayre I . G ., J . Lee Tyler ; Walton , Greensides , Wright and Musgrave . Visitors , —Bros . S . Meynell , Anchor 1337 , and

G . W . Deighton , Cleveland 543 . Business—Arrangements were made for the appointment of a Tyler , and two new members were proposed . It was reported that Arthur Richard Bourno had been accepted as a candidate for admission into the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and it was determined to use every effort to secure his election , the case being one of special urgency .

Acacia Lodge , No . 1314 . —The installation meeting of this Lodge , which , though young , numbers in itsranks brethren holdinghigh offices in the province , met at the Bell Tavern , Bromley . Bro . Manger , who has occupied the chair during the past year , to tho satisfaction of the brethren , opened tho Lodge . Bro . Seaman S . W ., Williams P . M . Treasurer , E . Cosle P . M . Secretary , and Past Masters A . Avery ,

J . W . Avery , Knott and Wells . The minutes of the former meeting having been confirmed , Bro . A . Avery P . M . and Provincial Grand Officer for Kent took the chair , for tho first time in the Acacia Lodgo . Bro . Seaman S . W . and W . M . elect having been presented , a board of Installed Masters was formed , and a very deserved compliment was paid the Installing Master for his rendering of the ceremony . The customary salutation having been given , the W . M . appointed his

officers : —E . Coste P . M . Treasurer , S . W . Wyer J . W ., A . Avery P . M . Secretary , Lovett S . D ., Manley J . D ., J . Bodcn I . G ., and Bavin Tyler . The newly installed W . M . then initiated Mr . Cowell into the Order . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren , between 70 and 80 , adjourned to banquet , in a new saloon recently built by Bro . Sutton , whose catering gave every satisfaction , while Bro . Saull , at his own expense , provided a sumptuous dessert , & c . At the conclusion of the banquet the W . M . gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . Bro

Knight P . M . returned thanks for the toast of the R . W . Viscount Holmesdale P . G . M . Kent , and the rest of the Grand Officers . Bro « Manger I . P . M . proposed tho toast of the newly installed W . M . The W . M . thanked the brethren for their kind expressions . He felt it an especial honour to see so many around him . Bro . Smith P . M . 619 responded to the toast of the Visitors . The W . M . proposed the toast of the Past Masters , and paid them a very just and deserved

meed of praise for their working , and the admirable manner they had done their duty . He then , in the name of the Lodge , presented Bro . Manger I . P . M . with a very elegant gold Past Master ' s jewel , with monogram and the arms of tho Provinco , orginally designed by Bro . J . W . Avery P . M ., for the manner he had conducted the duties of the Lodge during his year of office . ( Cheers . ) Bro . Manger suitably replied . The toasts of the Wardens , Officers , and Tyler , coneluded a very agreeable evening . The visitors numbered nearly 40 .

Chlltern Lodge , No . 1470 . —This Lodge held its regular meeting on Tuesday , the 20 th of July , at tho Town Hall , Dunstable . Present—Bros . Frederick Howell W . M ., Haselgrove S . W ., Randall J . W ., Middleton Secretary , Cutler J . D ., Rev . C . B . Harris Chaplain , Sinkwell I . G ., Day Tyler . Past Master Bro . Cawdell I . P . M ., and other brethren . Visitor—Bro . Jeffery 128 . Business—Although a

young Lodge , the Chiltern has already made itself a name for very careful and correct working . Its first year of existence was one of great prosperity , under the able management of Bro . Cawdoll , and his successor vies Avith him in continuing that success . Visitors have generally remarked on the ability of the officers , and on their careful training in their parts ; and it is to the thoroughness of purpose

they exhibit as ardent workers that the perfection arrived at in the working of the ceremonies is mainly due . The minutes having been read , and the Lodge opened in the 2 nd degree , Bro . Saunders presented himself as a candidate for raising , and Avas asked the nsual questions previous to retirement . The Lodge was then opened ia

the third degree , and the impressive ceremony of raising was gone through by Bro . Howell the W . M . The Lodge having been closed , the brethren adjourned to sup together at the Sugar Loaf Hotel , where Bro . Saunders catered for them in his nsual successful manner . A Lodge of Instruction has been opened in connection with No . 1470 , under Bro . Howell W . M . as Preceptor .
