The ballot was then taken for two new mombers—Mr . William Price and Mr . Henry John Nowons . Tho former was proposed by Bro . W . J . Huntley , and seconded by Bro . A . N . Newens , while the latter was proposed by Bro . A . N . Newens , and seconded by Bro . Past Master F . H . Newens . The election proved unanimous ,

Huutley , gavo notice of the following motion : — " That the Freemason's Chronicle and the Freemason be procured weekly , at the expense of the Lodge , and filed for reference . M . took place on Saturday last , at tho Old Town Hall , Mare-street , Hackney , on which occasion a largo number of brethren and visitors wero present . The Lodge was opened at 4 p . m . by the W . M . Bro . Ernest Wrig ht . The whole of the officers were present . After the reading of the minutes the

Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the W . M . elect , Bro . J . H . Maples , was presented for installation . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and a board of Installed Masters was formed , consisting of Bros . Buss Assistant Grand Secretary , W . E . Compertz P . M . Gresham 869 , W . R . Marsh P . M . to Masoury , notwithstanding his innumerable engagements . Bro . Bus 3 took occasion to comment upon tho working of tho officors of the Lodge , and said it was a bye-word in Masonry that if yon wanted to seo

good working , go to the Earl of Zetland Lodgo ; if yon wanted to seo a good Director of Ceromonies , yon would there seo Bro . Low . Bro . Ernest Wright proposed tho health of tho W . M ., who ho referred to as one who would preside over tho Lodge with credit ; ho was tho first initiate , and had filled every offico in tho Lodge . Bro . Maples acknowledged tho compliment Avhich had boon paid him by tho

brethren ; ho would always do his duty . Ho then gavo tho hoalth of the I . P . M ., who , in reply , warned tho brethren against indiscriminately proposing persons of whom they had little knowledge . Tho financial position of the Lodgo was such that they could oven dispense with joining members , and no person should bo proposed unless they were such as they could feel they could invito to their houses . Tho

health of the Installing Master followed . Ho , in thanking tho brethren , said that he thought joining members wero the back bono of a Lodge . Tho health of the Chaplain , Initiates , Visitors , Officers , Treasurer , Secretary , D . C , Organist and Stewards followed , in rapid succession . Each toast was suitably acknowledged , and tho Tyler then brought tho proceedings to a closo . Tho musical arrangemonts wero under tho direction of Bro . J . F . Haskins , and tlio rendoring of

tho song of tho "Dashing White Sergeant , " by Madame Do Valence and the humourous songs , " Lord Mayor ' s Day" and "A Visit to the Opera , " both of which wore rendered by Bro . Langton Lodge , No . 1673 . —Wo had the pleasure of enjoying tho hospitality of this Lodge , on Wednesday last , at thoir convenient quarters , the London Masonic Club , 101 Quoou Victoria-street , E . C . In ' tho absence of tho W . M . ( Bro . II . Stoad ) , his son Bro . J . K . Stead P . M . aud Treas . occupied tho chair , and opened tho Lodge with Bros . J . Langton S . W ., Dobbing J . W . and acting Sec , Dunn as

Tho agenda paper was a very full one , and the business commenced with tho raising of Bros . Davics , Marnor , and Strauss , after which Bro . jMcKinlay was passed . Ballots wore taken for tho admission of Messrs . J . A . Dickson and S . Semple , and both resulted favourably . Lod ^ o bavin "

beeu called off for a short time was resumed , and the abovo two gentlemen , with Mr . Fabor , who had already been accepted , wore admitted to Masonic light , the ceremony being performed by tho W . M . each candidato separately The W . M . proposed that the thanks of tho members bo voted to Bro . Ridley for his having so successfully represented the Lodge at the recent Festival of the Boys' School ;

this being seconded , was passed and briefly acknowledged . Four propositions for initiation , and ono for joining were handed in , after which the Lodge was closed . The brethren adjourned to the banquet room , and partook of a well propided repast , which was served in a way reflecting great credit on the officials of the Club . Tho usual toasts wore given by tho acting Master . Bro . Fabian proposed tho

health of the W . M . of tho Lodge ; he is a most excellent Mason , and a good Master . In his absence they were presided over by his son , who was , if he might say it , in every respect his equal . This toast having met with a hearty response , was briefly acknowledged . The W . M . regretting that the absence of his father had brought him into such prominence . He now gave the Initiates . All Lodges ,

especially new oues , want new blood , this evening they had thrco new members ; he was pleased to givo them a hearty welcome , and although not strong in number , he felt sure they would prove strong in quality . Tho initiates having each replied , the W . M . gavo the Visitors . At no meeting of their Lodgo had they been without , some , he hoped they would always be so favoured . He tendered tht »

this being seconded , was passed and briefly acknowledged . Four propositions for initiation , and ono for joining were handed in , after which the Lodge was closed . The brethren adjourned to the banquet room , and partook of a well propided repast , which was served in a way reflecting great credit on the officials of the Club . health of the W . M . of tho Lodge ; he is a most excellent Mason , and a good Master . In his absence they were presided over by his son , who was , if he might say it , in every respect his equal . especially new oues , want new blood , this evening they had thrco new members ; he was pleased to givo them a hearty welcome , and although not strong in number , he felt sure they would prove strong in quality .
