M , raised three of tbe Brethren to the third degree in a most able manner . Bro . Massey Dawson , the S . W , Avas elected W . M . for the year 1854 . There Avere several A'isitors present , including the Prov . G . M . for Kent , Bro . Purton Cooper , Bro . Dr . Rowe , & c .
ENOCH LODGE ( NO . 11 ) . —The monthly meeting of this excellent Lodge Avas held at Freemasons' Tavern , on Wednesday , Dec . 14 , when Bro . Young , the W . M , most ably initiated two gentlemen into the Order , passed tAvo , and raised one to their respective degrees . Bro . F . Ledger , tbe present S . W , Avas unanimously elected W . M . for tbe ensuing year , and Bro . W . Williams , Treasurer , in the room of the late respected Bro . Watts . It Avas resolved that an elegant jeAvel should be presented to Bro . P . M . R . Temple , for the great services he bad rendered to tbe Lodge , be baA'ing most efficiently discharged the duties of M . C . for a period of seven years .
GLOBE LODGE ( NO . 23 ) . —The members of this Lodge met together at the Freemasons' Tavern , Thursday , Dec . 15 , when Bro . NeAvton , W . M , most ably initiated Mr . George Oliver into the Order . Bro . W . Evans then took the chair by permission of tbe W . M , and most ably raised bis son , Avho bad been initiated in All Souls Loclge ( No . 199 ) , Weymouth , and another Brother , to tbe degree of M . M . In a later part of the eveningBro . Davenport and another Avere
ad-, vanced to the second degree , tbe ceremony being postponed until after supper , in consequence of Bro . Davenport being detained by his engagements at the City of Loudon Theatre . Bro . Hewlett , S . W , was unanimously elected W . M . for tbe year 1854 , and P . M . Bro . Bennett , Treasurer , in tbe room of tbe late lamented P . M . Bro . Banks . It was the wish of the Brethren to elect Bro . Watson , the
respected proprietor of the Freemasons' Tavern , to Avhom the Lodge is chiefly indebted for its resuscitation , as Treasurer , ancl a deputation of the Brethren had an interview Avith the G . Sec . on tbe subject during the past month , to know whether a dispensation Avoulcf be granted for the purpose , it being oue of the fundamental rules of the Order , that no Mason shall hold office in a Lodge meeting at his own house . Prior to the election of Bro . Bennett , P . M . Bro . Blackburn communicated to the Lodge that be bad received a reply from the G . Sec , stating that tbe M . W . G .
