Christ Church ; Mr . AVilliam King , Mr . Crawford , Mr . T . E . AVithington , Mr . Davis , and Mr . Dalison , of Merton College ; Mr . BoscoAven Trevor Griffith and Mr . EdAvard Heaton Ellis , of Exeter College ; Mr . Luke Gerald Dillon and the Hon . Edmund John Monson , son of Lord Monson , of Baliol College ; and Mr . AValter Hugh Erie Welby , of Corpus Christi College . The ceremony of initiation was performed by the AV . M . Bro . Thomas Best , of
Magdalen College , Avho delivered the charges , and conducted the AA'hole of tbe business in an admirable maimer . The election of a AV . M . for the ensuing year then took place , and Bro . AV . B . Beach , Prov . G . S . AV , of Christ Church , was duly elected . On the conclusion of the business in the Lodge , tbe Hrethren , in number about seventy , Avithdrew to the banquet-room , Avhere the SteAvards hacl provided an entertainment worthy of the occasion . The Prov . G . M . of Oxfordshire , Bro . Rev . C . J . Ridley , attended the banquet , and availed himself of the opportunity to communicate to
the Brethren that he had appointed Bro . Captain Bowyer , AV . M . of the Cherwell Lodge at Banbury , to be D . P . G . M . of Oxfordshire , in tbe room of Bro . Stephen Burstall , M . A ., of University College , Avho is gone to Australia . The appointment has given the greatest satisfaction to the Brethren of the Province , for , in addition to the high estimation in which Captain Bowyer is held , he is distinguished as a Mason , having been Master of tbe Richmond Lodge for tAvo years .
In his present position as W . M . of tbe Banbury Loclge , he is doing essential service to Masonry , and through his instrumentality , Avith the aid of his zealous officers , this young but promising Lodge bids fair to hold high rank among Provincial Lodges . THE ALERED CITY LODGE . —The Alfred City Lodge has had some large and excellent meetings during the past quarter , ancl under tbe Mastership of Bro . Alderman Dudley , late mayor of Oxford , has
kept up its credit as a well-conducted working Lodge . At the last meeting , held on Tuesday , the 13 th of December , the Brethren proceeded to the election of a AV . M . for tbe year ensuing , Avhen Bro . Thomas Randall , S . AV , Avas duly elected . The election of Bro . Randall to the Master ' s chair AA'iil tend greatly to uphold tbe high character which this Lodge enjoys ; for , in addition to his literary acquirements , he combines habits of business and the strictest integrity , ancl possesses a heart truly Masonic in every sense of the word . Few men have done more to ameliorate the moral and social
