ALBION LODGE , ( NO . 9 ) . —Tho annual meeting of tbis Lodga took place on Tuesday , Jan . 4 th , upwards of forty Brothers being present . Bro . Ferryman , ' WM . , opened tbe Lodgo in due form , and Bro , Bailey was passed to the second degree . The W . M . tbon resigned bis seat to Bro . Cant , P . M . ancl father of tbe Lodge—who proceeded with the ceremony of installation . Bro . Storing was then introduced by the retiring Masterand impressively installed into the chair . The new W . M .

ap-, pointed the officers , as follows -. —Bro . Hughes , S . W . ; Bro . W . Knight , J . W . ; Bro . Young , S . D . ; Bro . Abbott , J . D . ; Bro . Brown , I . G . Bros . Charles Lee and P . acksfcraiv were also invested as Treasurer and Secretary . Lodgo having been closed in solemn form , tbe Brethren retired from labour to refreshment . Bro . Moring presiding , supported on tho right by tho visitors , amongst whom ivere Bros . Pevreu , P . This was followed by the toasts of " The Earl of Zetland" and " Lord Panmure , " which were given ivith the customary honours . The next toast was that of " The Visitors "—replied to by Bro . Perren . The " W . M . said a pleasing duty now devolved upon him , that of

proposing tho health of their much esteemed Past Master , Bro . Cant , the father of the Lodge , who had that night performed the beautiful ceremony of installation in a manner to reflect lustre upon tho Lodge . Bro . Cant was ono of the most distinguished members of the Order , ho being one of the nine worthies appointed in 1813 to arrange the union of the York aud Athol Masons . Bro . Cant was ( with the exception of Bro . White , tho late Grand Secretary ) the oldest and nearly the last of those worthies . It ivas an . honour to have such a man associated with their Lodge . He ivould conclude by calling upon them to drink the health of Bro . Cant with

tbe usual honours . The worthy P . M . briefly replied . The " Masters , " the " Past Masters , " " Officers , " & e ., wero toasted and suitably acknowledged , the concluding toast being the " Masonic Charities , " coupled as usual with the name of Bro . Burton , who said that ho felt considerable pleasure in having his name associated with that toast . He had served the charities upou five occasions , and now he was about to act as steward for the Eoyal Benevolent Institution for Aged Masons and their Widowsand trusted to be well supported on the 26 'tk instant ; it had ahvays been

, his pleasure to represent No . 9 when serving the charities , it being his mother Lodge , although he had been favoured with high offices iu other Loclges . In conclusion , bo must again urge the assistance of the Brethren at the approaching festival , I ' eeliug that the Benevolent Institution was move in need of aid at the present time than perhaps any of the other charities connected with the Order . Bros . Wood Banks and Miss Ada Taylor added by their singing to the enjoyment of the evening .
