St . James ' s Union Lodge , No . 180 . —The installation meeting was held on Tuesday , the 14 th January , and was numerously attended by members and visitors . Bros . L . B . Pillin occupied the chair , E . Farwig S . W ., Wade J . W ., Stollard S . D ., Fletcher J . D ., Wood I . G ., Hart Org . P . M . ' s Bros . W . C . Parsons , Stonor , L . Herf , A . L . Annett I . P . M ., Cameron . Tho Lodge was opened ancl the

minutes confirmed . Bro . Hall was raised to tho third degree , the ceremony being performed in a very excellent manner by tho VV . M . The Auditors ' report was read and adopted . The Benevolent Fund showed a balance of £ 135 16 s 4 d in band . Bro . E . Farwig S . W . and W . M . elect was presented to the Lodge ; a board of installed Masters was opened , and ho was duly placed in the chair by Bro . Pillin , tho

retiring W . M ., who perfectly and impressively performed the ceremony , the brethren giving hearty and energetic applause to him on his concluding . The newly-installed W . Master having been saluted in due form , appointed and investdd his Oflicers : —Bros . Stollard S . W ., Wade J . W ., Pillin I . P . M . Treas ., Parsons Sec . ( here the W . M . remarked that as Bro . Stacey P . M . had resigned , the

choice of the brethren conld not have fallen on a moro worthv brother ) , Fletcher S . D ., Wood J . D ., W . IT . Baker I . G ., L . Herf P . M . W . S ., Bishop Assist . W . S ., Cameron P . M . D . C , Gilbert Tyler . A sum of two guineas was voted to Bro . Gilbert , tho Tyler of the Lodgo , for his services , which had been performed to the satisfaction of the members . Bro . Cameron P . M . said : All , with feelings of regret would

learn that he bad to inform them of tho resignation of Bro . H . A . Stacey , who had been Secretary for twenty years . Personally he deeply regretted the conclusion thafc Bro . Stacey had come to ; however ho , with the greatest pleasure wonld propose , ancl Bro . Stonor P . M . would second , a resolution that their worthy brother be mado an honorary member , with all the rights and privileges of a subscribing

member ; and that a vote of thanks be recorded on the minntes for the able manner in which he had discharged his duties for the last 20 years . Bro . A . L . Annett proposed that this resolution , which had been unanimously agreed to , be engrossed , framed and glazed , and bo presented to Bro . Stacey , who had clone so much service for this Locige , as also for the Lodgo of Instruction . Bro . W . C . Parsons P . M .

announced that Bro . A . L . Annett had consented to act as Steward for the R . M . B . I . at the next Festival ; the sum of £ 10 10 s was unanimously voted to be placed on his list . Bro . Farwig bavins consented to act as Steward for tho R . M . I , for Girls , a sum of £ 10 10 s was voted to be placed on his list . The Lodge was then closed , and the brethren , 91 in number , sat down in tho Crown Room to a sump .

tuona banquet and dessert , providedby Bro . A . Bcst , and superintended by Bro . E . Dpwkins , that gave great satisfaction . Grace having bren said , the W . M . in able and genial terms proposed the Loyal and Masonio toasts . Tho toast of the Qnccn and the Craft was received with great enthusiasm , and the National Anthem was sung . With the toast of 11 . 11 . 11 . the Prince of Wales , the henllli of the Pro Grand

Master , the Deputy Graud Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers past and present , were associated . "God Bless the Prince of Wales " was sung by Bro . Ion Cantle , tho choruses being enthusiastically taken up by the brethren . Bro . Pillin I . P . M . then rose : Tho brethren would possibly by this time be tired of his speaking , but he rose with great pleasure to propose a toast which he was sure would be

received with enthusiasm . The toast he would offer for their acceptance was the health of the W . M ., whose whole heart is devoted to the ennse of Freemasonry , especially so to tho welfare of this Lodge . Ho did not wish to take np their time by speaking of his merits , these spoke for themselves . The W . M . was one who can ancl will carry out each duty required of him in every capacity ho ocenpies in the Locige

and out of it . Bro . W . G . Reynolds here gave " The Charge of the Light Brigade . " The W . M . in reply said : ho had to thank Bro . Pillin for the manner he had proposed his health ; he hoped to make the St . James ' s Lodgo a Lodge of good fellowship and good feelimr . He hoped to be able at the expiration of his year of office to hear the brethren express their opinion as heartily as they had done that

evening . After a song from Bro . L . Fryer , the W . M . proposed the toast of tho Visitors ; he would couplo with it the names of Bros . Swallow , Belfrage , Pare , and H . M . Levy , who would embody the sentiments of the numerous guests , whom they were all pleased to see among them . Bro . Cantle sang , " I Fear no Foe . " After which the brethren named by the W . M . acknowledged the complimrnfc paid

them . Each gave Bro . Pillin credit for the manner he had performed the ceremonies of raising and installation ; also for the admirable manner in wlich every detail in connection with the Lodge had been carried out . Bro . Kift here sang a humorous song . The W . M . had now an important toast to propose , and that was the health of the I . P . M ., who had been called on to take the office of Treasnrpr . dition to proposing tho toast , be had much pleasure in placing on his breast a jewel , which had been nnanimonsly voted by the brethren . He sincerely trusted that the receiver and those who witnessed this presentation , individually and collectively , might live long to SPB Bro . Pillin present in the Lodge . After a recitation from Bro . Walter Joyce , Bro . Pillin thanked the brethren for the kind mrniner they Vine

responded to tho toast . They had spokfn in lush terms of what he had dono for the Lodge , and that it was for its benefit ; he had worked from the lowest office , and when he was elected to the post of W . M . ho lutl exertpcl himself , from the clay he was installed to the present , when he had installed his oiccessor , which he trusted ho had dour ¦• .. ! some measure to their satisfaction . where good working was well known and appreciated ; he had the valuable assistance of the brethren , and on leaving the chair he could lookback with pleasure to his association wi ' h tho Lodge . The W . M . then proposed thu health of Bro . Parsons , who had taken the office of Secretary at so short a notice ; of Bros . L . Herf and Bishop the Stewards ; and also the Past Masters , Bros . Cameron and Stonor

who were alwais ready and willing to minister to the comfort of the Lodsre . Bro . Parsons said he was pleased to occupy the position of Secretary ; he reyretted the absence of Bro . H . A . Stacey ; he was assured that every one of th «* Past Mast *> rs were able and ready to do all they could for tho Lodge . The W . Fells , as candidate for raising , answered

questions , and tho W . M . performed the ceremony in solemn and ancient form . Bro . Moss worked the first and second sections of tho Lecture , with the assistance of the brethren . Lodgo having closed down , a few business matters were discussed which will tend to the welfare of the Locige and Freemasonry in general . The brethren dispersed , fully appreciating the benefit derived by attending this Lodge of Instruction .

Whittington Lodge of Instruction , No . 862 . —On Wednesday , 15 th January , at Bro . Hyde ' s , Red Lion . Poppins-court , Flfot-strpnt , Bro . , T . S . Brown of the mother Lodge occupying the chair of K . S ., assisted by Bro . Abell S . W ., Knill Abell J . W ., Hallam S . D ., Pate I . G ., Long Preceptor , and others . On the minntes of the previous meeting being confirmed , tho Lodgo was

opened in the second degree , and Bro . Welsford examined as to his proficiency . The Lodge was then opened in tho 3 rd degree , and after tho first section had beeu worked by the W . M ., ho rendered the cere - mony of raisinc . in his nsnal impressive manner . The W . M . then completed the lecture and resumed tho Lodgo . Bro . Tompkins of the Jordan Locige was elected a member , and the Locige was closed .

Prince of Wales Lodge , No . 1035 . —Thursday 11 th inst . was installation day at the Princo of Wales Locige , ancl tbe brethren assembled in strong force at Skelmersdale Hall , Westminster-road , Liverpool . It is now twelve months since the removal of the Lodge from its old home , and the change has been beueficial in every way , resulting in a most prosperous year , under Bro . John W . M'Wean . the

retiring W . M ., who took the chair . Ho was supported by Bro . Tbos . M'Weau S . W . ( W . M . elect ) , Bro . R . 11 . Forshnw J . W ., Bro . A . Wallis I . P . M ., Bro . G . Sctilthorpe P . M ., Bro . Geo . Morgan P . M . Treasurer , Bro . AV . Donkin Secretary , Bro . John Whaite , Assistant Secretary , Brother J . P . Bryan S . D .. & c Many Masons of high standing in the Craft were present as Visitors . The W . M . elect ; was presented by

Bro . A . Willis and Bro . G . Morgan , and the installation ceremony performed in a highly effective manner by Bro . J . W . M'Wean , the retiring W . M ., whose working gave entire satisfaction . Tlie usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were'duly honoured ; that of " The Provincial Grand Master and Officers" was cordially received , and acknowledged by B o . Archer P . M . 1 , 086 P . G . S . D . Tho toast of tho pvening , t' ^ t of ' ¦ ' Tne AVor' - ' - 'ofuI Master . " was proposed by Brother Fozzard P . M ., wtio -said he was confident every one would bear him out when he said tbit their AV . M . was worthy of the great trust they

had reposed in him . Tho AV . M . thanked the brethren in feeling terms , and assured them tl at he would do hia utmost to deserve the honour they had conferred on him . " The Installing Master" was proposed by Bro . AVillia P . M .. and tho "P . M . ' s" by the W . M ., who presented Bro . J . W . M'Wean with a handsome P . M . ' s jewel on behalf of the Lodge ; whilo Bro . Pcake p . esented him with a handsome silver eporgne on behalf of a number of the individual members , accompanying it with

some very flatterim remarks on the present condition of the Lodge , ancl the good feelin which had existed doling his year of office . Tho toast was responded to by Bros . Fozzard P . M ., ancl M'AVean P . M . "The AVest Lancasl ire Educational Institution " was proposed by Bro . R . R . Forshaw S . W ., who coupled with it the name of Bro . George Morgan P . M ., who 'espouded . Other toasts followed , and the brethren separated after a most agreeable reunion ,

Fells , as candidate for raising , answered

questions , and tho W . M . performed the ceremony in solemn and ancient form . Bro . Moss worked the first and second sections of tho Lecture , with the assistance of the brethren . Lodgo having closed down , a few business matters were discussed which will tend to the welfare of the Locige and Freemasonry in general . The brethren dispersed , fully appreciating the benefit derived by attending this Lodge of Instruction .

Whittington Lodge of Instruction , No . 862 . —On Wednesday , 15 th January , at Bro . Hyde ' s , Red Lion . Poppins-court , Flfot-strpnt , Bro . , T . S . Brown of the mother Lodge occupying the chair of K . S ., assisted by Bro . Abell S . W ., Knill Abell J . W ., Hallam S . D ., Pate I . G ., Long Preceptor , and others . On the minntes of the previous meeting being confirmed , tho Lodgo was

opened in the second degree , and Bro . Welsford examined as to his proficiency . The Lodge was then opened in tho 3 rd degree , and after tho first section had beeu worked by the W . M ., ho rendered the cere - mony of raisinc . in his nsnal impressive manner . The W . M . then completed the lecture and resumed tho Lodgo . Bro . Tompkins of the Jordan Locige was elected a member , and the Locige was closed .

Prince of Wales Lodge , No . 1035 . —Thursday 11 th inst . was installation day at the Princo of Wales Locige , ancl tbe brethren assembled in strong force at Skelmersdale Hall , Westminster-road , Liverpool . It is now twelve months since the removal of the Lodge from its old home , and the change has been beueficial in every way , resulting in a most prosperous year , under Bro . John W . M'Wean . the

retiring W . M ., who took the chair . Ho was supported by Bro . Tbos . M'Weau S . W . ( W . M . elect ) , Bro . R . 11 . Forshnw J . W ., Bro . A . Wallis I . P . M ., Bro . G . Sctilthorpe P . D .. & c Many Masons of high standing in the Craft were present as Visitors . The W . M . elect ; was presented by

Bro . A . Willis and Bro . G . Morgan , and the installation ceremony performed in a highly effective manner by Bro . J . W . M'Wean , the retiring W . M ., whose working gave entire satisfaction . Tlie usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were'duly honoured ; that of " The Provincial Grand Master and Officers" was cordially received , and acknowledged by B o . Archer P . M . 1 , 086 P . G . S . D . Tho toast of tho pvening , t' ^ t of ' ¦ ' Tne AVor' - ' - 'ofuI Master . " was proposed by Brother Fozzard P . M ., wtio -said he was confident every one would bear him out when he said tbit their AV . M . was worthy of the great trust they

had reposed in him . Tho AV . M . thanked the brethren in feeling terms , and assured them tl at he would do hia utmost to deserve the honour they had conferred on him . " The Installing Master" was proposed by Bro . AVillia P . M .. and tho "P . M . ' s" by the W . M ., who presented Bro . J . W . M'Wean with a handsome P . M . ' s jewel on behalf of the Lodge ; whilo Bro . Pcake p . esented him with a handsome silver eporgne on behalf of a number of the individual members , accompanying it with

some very flatterim remarks on the present condition of the Lodge , ancl the good feelin which had existed doling his year of office . Tho toast was responded to by Bros . Fozzard P . M ., ancl M'AVean P . M . "The AVest Lancasl ire Educational Institution " was proposed by Bro . R . R . Forshaw S . W ., who coupled with it the name of Bro . George Morgan P . M ., who 'espouded . Other toasts followed , and the brethren separated after a most agreeable reunion ,
