evinced to those brethren who have the proud privilege of witnessing the Prince of Wales at the Grand Lodge . His Royal Highness had greatly added to the prestige ot the Craft , and they all hoped he would be spared many years to enjoy the position of Grand Master of English I'reesaid all

masons . Of the Grand Officers the W . M . were aware how universally popular were the Earl of Carnarvon and Lord Lathom , and the rest of the Grand Officers , and of the great amount of work they did . They were honoured that evening with the presence of Bro . H . G . Buss , the Assistant Grand Secretary , whose uame he would couple

with the toast . , , ,. . „ „ , Bro . Buss expressed his thanks on behalf of the L . tanu Officers for the hearty appreciation which had been manifested of their services . The general popularity of those officers testified to the wise choice of the M . W . Grand

Master in the selection he had made . . . Bro . John next gave the " VV . M . " in appreciative terms , as having that day realised the high position of W . M . ot his lodge . ... Bro Darnell , in reply , thanked the brethren sincerely for the kind reception the toast had met with . He was greatly indebted to the brethren for electing him to the position in

the lodge . He had been connected with the lodge _ since its consecration , and they could depend upon him doing all in his power to maintain the high prestige of the Iodge in accordance with its early history . "The Past Masters" were next honoured , the VV . M . dwelling upon the advantage the lodge possessed in having , although so few , vet such efficient Past Masters , coupling

the name or the I . P . M . with the toast , who replied tor tile P . M . in eloquent terms , promising for himself as Steward to study the interests of the lodge as well as the comforts of the brethren . , . , The VV . M . next said it was with great and unmixed pleasure he welcomed the visitors , they always were pleased to see them and to make them welcome m the Henry fllug-• geridge Lodge . They were honoured with a goodly

attendance of visitors , and he asked the brethren to give them a hearty lire , and called upon Bro . Stephens to respond . Bro . The W . M . next gave " The Treasurer and Secretary , who had been officers of the lodge from its consecration , and had so very materially assisted in its success . He ( Bro . Darnell ) was especially indebted to Bro . Scriven for having so kindly stayed at the banquet at his request , as having some sixty miles to travel , that brother invariably left early . The lodge might feel proud of possessing such

Past Masters as Bro . Scriven and their esteemed Secretary , Bro . Muggeridge . That brother having replied at length , " 1 he Officers were toasted , and Bro . Arnold , J . W ., responded for them , promising a faithful discharge of the duties they had just been appointed to fulfil ; and the Tyler ' s toast was given by

Bro . Marsh , andthe proceedings terminated . The harmony of the evening was greatly enhanced by the excellent singing of Bros . Webb , Swift , Purvis , Stephens , Carr , and others . Mr . Harradine also contributed several songs , which gave great satisfaction , and rendered the meeting as memorable as enjoyable .

MARLBOROUGH . — Lodge of Loyalty ( No . 1533 ) . —On Tuesday , the 23 rd ult ., the annual meeting of the above lodge for the installation of the VV . "The Pro Grand Master , Deputy Grand Master , and Officers of Grand Lodge" was responded toby R . VV . Bro . Col . Sir Francis Burdett P . G . M . Middx . Bro . J . Chandler , P . M ., P . P . G . S . W , P . G DC . responded for " The Officers of Provincial Grand Lodge . Bro . R . VV . Merriman , in exceedingly well chosen . sentences , gave "The Health of Col . Sir Francis Burdett , the Right Worshpful P . G . M . for Middlesex . "_ Bro . leasure not 1 111 the

Merriman expressed the p only a lodge , but all in the surrounding neighbourhood ielt at seeing the Hon . Baronet occupying the seat of the family at Ramsbury , and coming amongst them as a magistrate and a county gentleman . A distinct honour had been conferred on the Lodge of Loyalty in numbering the gallant Bart among its members . Toomer , responded to by Bro . Surgeon-General T . Ringer , P . M . Steward for No . 1533 , and the Province of Wilts for Girls' and Boys' this year , after which a collection was made in their behalf . The Tyler ' s toast concluded the evening .

GREAT STANMORE . —Abercorn Lodge ( No . 1549 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held on the 3 rd ult ., when the W . M . was ably supported . After the lodge had been duly opened , and the minutes of the last meeting confirmed , the ballot was taken for Mr . Charles T . Townsend as a candidate for initiation , which ceremony ( although unanimous in his favour ) was unavoidably deferred until the next meeting in July . Bros . Tolman and

Didsbury were passed to the Second Degree by Bro . Kay , P . M ., who performed the ceremony with his usual efficiency . " Hearty good wishes" having been given by Bro . E . Ballard , 13 OG ( visitor ) , and many members having given substantial support to Bro . P . M . Tidcombe ' s list for the Boys ' Festival , the lodge was closed . Ihe usual agreeable banquet , alike creditable to the host and hearty goodwill of the brethren , passed | off very harmoniously , the hotel and grounds being now very enjoyable for summer gatherings .

LIVERPOOL . —Dramatic Lodge ( No . 1609 ) . — The usual monthly meeting of the members of this lodge ( and the last previous to the two months' summer vacation ) took place on Tuesday , the 23 rd ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street . Bro . John Atkinson , W . M ., presided at the opening , and he was supported by Bros . B . B . Marson , P . P . G . S . B . ; W . O . Savage , J . W . ( acting S . W . ); VV .

After the lodge had been opened , and the minutes read and confirmed , the ballot was taken for a candidate hailing from the Carl Rosa Company , and the voting was

unanimously in his favour . He was unable , however , to be present , and the Second and Third Degrees were only given . There were six candidates for the former , viz . : Bros . Gale St . John , Tudor Rogers , VV . Morgan , R . Hicks , J . Cruft , and I . Knott ; and three for the Third Degree : Bros . G . Redmond , C . Buzian , and J . Rawsthorne .

During the after-dinner proceedings , a presentation of an interesting character was made to Bro . Savage , J . VV ., who acknowledged the gift in suitable terms . A specially written song was given by Bro . Cantor , and other songs and recitations were contributed by Bros . Busfield , Brotherton , Hicks , Morgan , Macpherson , and others .

TONBRIDGE . — The Medway Lodge ( No . 1 O 7 S ) . —The chief meeting of the year for installation of new officers was held at the new Public Hall , on Tuesday , the 23 rd ult ., at 4 . 30 p . m . There was a very large gathering , and it was apparent to all the brethren as they entered the Iodge that the installation of Bro . John Sills Charlton would be a great success . Shortly after half-past four Bro .

E . Monckton , VV . M ., ascended the chair , and opened the lodge , when Bro . Chas . Hogben , the Secretary , read the minutes , which were unanimously passed . The presence , in the ante-room , was then announced of the R . W . P . G . M ., Lord Holmesdale , who was at once admitted , and on his taking the W . M . ' s chair , was saluted in due form . After having opened the lodge in the Second Degree , he vacated

the chair in favour of Bro . B . S .. Wilmot , P . M ., P . P . G . R . Kent , who opened the lodge in the Third Degree , and raised Bro . John Foster Hall to the Sublime Degree of M . M . The lodge was resumed to the Second Degree . After the usual preliminary proceedings , the Iodge was resumed to the Third Degree , the brethren who had not passed the chair retired ; 3 Board of Installed Masters was

constituted , and Bro . John Sills Charlton was installed into the chair of K . S . On the return of the brethren the customary proceedings were most efficiently carried out , and the following were invested as the new officers : Bros . VV . B . Bacon , S . VV . ; John Abrey , J . and Hughes , A . D . C . The whole of the ceremony was performed by Bro . B . S . Wilmot , P . AL S 74 , 1 O 7 S , P . P . G . R . Kent , in a most able , impressive , and emphatic manner , and a vote of thanks ivas recorded . " Hearty good wishes " having been given by the visiting brethren , the lodge was closed , and the whole party adjourned to the Rose and Crown Hotel , where a splendid

Grand Master . " The honour due to our Royal chief and his illustrious house having been justly accorded , other customary toasts followed , the R . W . P . G . M . proposing that of "The Newly-Installed Master , " which was modestly responded to bv the VV . M .

Other toasts followed , bringing a successful day to a close—a day which at 1 O 7 S abounded both in labour and refreshment with true Masonic bearing . During the evening some pleasant singing was performed by Bros . Cozens , Cave Ashton , Hubbard , and Madame Cave Ashton .

NOTTINGHAM . —De Vere Lodge ( No . 1794 ) , —A meeting of this lodge was held on Friday , the 19 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall . Present : Bros . Gardner , VV . M . ; Wigglesworth , S . W . ; Gowthorpe , J . W . ; Ingram , M . C ; Gilbert , Sec . ; Iilborne , S . D . ; Truman , Org . ; Cokayne , I . G . ; Oakden and Loverseede , Stewards ; Glover , Tyler ; H . J . Norris , I . P . meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Ward was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason by the W . M ., in a masterly and solemn manner ; indeed , we have seldom seen this beautiful , sublime Degree so well worked as on this occasion , which evoked the praise and admiration of those present . The working tools and tracing board were also explained . Bro . H . Morris , I . P . M ., proposed , and Bro . Gilbert ,

P . M ., seconded , a vote of £ 5 5 s . from the lodge funds in aid of the Provincial Grand Lodge organ , which is to be erected in the Masonic Hall , which was supported by Bro . Truman , Org ., and carried unanimously . The Provincial Grand Lodge Officers having retired in procession , the offertory was collected , and lodge was closed , and the brethren retired for refreshments , and spent a very convivial and musical evening .

ISRAEL LODGE ( No . 205 ) . —At the last regular meeting of the above old lodge , at Bro . W . Yetton ' s , Rising Sun Tavern , Globe-road , E ., Bro . Peterken presided ; Bros . Richardson was S . VV . ; Jones , P . M ., J . W . j G . H . Stephens , Hon . Sec . ; J . Taylor , S . D . ; D . Moss , J . D . ; H . Marks , I . G . ; Yetton , P . M . ; and others . Lodge was duly opened , and minutes submitted and confirmed . 'The ceremony of initiation was carefully worked by Bro . Peterken , who was recently installed into the chair

of K . S . in the Friars Lodge , 1349 . The W . M . then vacated the chair , and Bro . Moss , after due examination , raised Bro . Peterken to the Sublime Degree . Lodge was duly closed down , and a vote of thanks was accorded Bro . Peterken for the able way in which he had occupied the chair for the first time in the lodge . Bro . VV . Richardson was appointed VV . M . for the ensuing lodge meeting , and lodge was closed .

UNITED PILGRIM'S LODGE ( So . 507 ) . — A meeting of this Iodge was held at the Surrey Masonic Hall , on Friday , the 20 th ult ., at 7 . 30 , Bro . Richard Poore openingthe lodge precisely at the appointed time . The VV . M . was supported by Bros . C . H . Phillips , S . W .: J . Bate , J . W . ; H . Goodwin , S . D . ; G . VV . Knight , J . D . ; E . Newby , I . G . ; James Stevens , P . M . and Hon . Preceptor

H . Al . Williams , G . Hubbard , F . J . Perks , W . H . Chase , T . A . Harper , VV . M . 1216 ; andothers . The First Section haying been worked by the brethren , the ceremony of initiation was exceedingly well rendered by the W . M ., Bro . Perks acting as candidate . The examination for proficiency was also rehearsed . Bro . J . Bate delivered the charge to the Initiate . A portion of the

Lecture on the first tracing board was g iven by the Preceptor . A notice of motion for amending bye-laws was renewed and the proposals adjourned for consideration at next meeting . Bro . C . H . Phillips was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . A cordial vote of thanks was recorded in favour of Bro . Richard Poore for his able discharge of the duties of VV . M . on this occasion , and the lodge was closed in due form .

YARBOROUGH LODGE ( No . 5 S 4 ) . —At the regular meeting of this lodge on Tuesday last , the 30 th ult ., at the Green Dragon , Stepney , Bros . Ellingford , was VV . M . ; Richardson , S . VV . ; Berry , P . M ., J . VV . j T . J . Barnes , P . M . acting Sec ; J . Andrews , P . M . Preceptor ; J . 'Taylor , S . D . ; G . Price , I . G . ; also Bros . A . Peterken , W . M . 1349 ; Walter , Stephens , and others .

Lodge was duly opened and minutes read by Bro . Stephens , acting Secretary . These were confirmed , and with Bro . Peterkin as candidate , the ceremony of initiation was impressively worked . Lodge was opened in the Second and Bro . G . Price of the mother lodge gave the answers to the questions which will be required of him . Lodge was opened up and the ceremony of raising was worked , Bro .

Peterkin candidate , the working having occupied considerable time Lodge was resumed . Bro . A . Peterkin , W . M . 1349 , and of 1 S 05 , was elected a member of the lodge , and promised as frequent attendance as possible . Bro . Richardson was elected VV . M . for the ensuing lodge

meeting . The working of the Fifteen Sections by Bro . Stephens on Monday next , at the Sincerity Lodge of Instruction 174 , held at the Three Nuns Hotel , Aldgate , was duly announced , and all lodge business being at an end , lodge was closed in harmony and adjourned until Tuesday next .

evinced to those brethren who have the proud privilege of witnessing the Prince of Wales at the Grand Lodge . His Royal Highness had greatly added to the prestige ot the Craft , and they all hoped he would be spared many years to enjoy the position of Grand Master of English I'reesaid all

masons . Of the Grand Officers the W . M . were aware how universally popular were the Earl of Carnarvon and Lord Lathom , and the rest of the Grand Officers , and of the great amount of work they did . They were honoured that evening with the presence of Bro . H . G . Buss , the Assistant Grand Secretary , whose uame he would couple

with the toast . , , ,. . „ „ , Bro . Buss expressed his thanks on behalf of the L . tanu Officers for the hearty appreciation which had been manifested of their services . The general popularity of those officers testified to the wise choice of the M . W . Grand

Master in the selection he had made . . . Bro . John next gave the " VV . M . " in appreciative terms , as having that day realised the high position of W . M . ot his lodge . ... Bro Darnell , in reply , thanked the brethren sincerely for the kind reception the toast had met with . He was greatly indebted to the brethren for electing him to the position in

the lodge . He had been connected with the lodge _ since its consecration , and they could depend upon him doing all in his power to maintain the high prestige of the Iodge in accordance with its early history . "The Past Masters" were next honoured , the VV . M . dwelling upon the advantage the lodge possessed in having , although so few , vet such efficient Past Masters , coupling

the name or the I . P . M . with the toast , who replied tor tile P . M . in eloquent terms , promising for himself as Steward to study the interests of the lodge as well as the comforts of the brethren . , . , The VV . M . next said it was with great and unmixed pleasure he welcomed the visitors , they always were pleased to see them and to make them welcome m the Henry fllug-• geridge Lodge . Darnell ) was especially indebted to Bro . Scriven for having so kindly stayed at the banquet at his request , as having some sixty miles to travel , that brother invariably left early . GREAT STANMORE . —Abercorn Lodge ( No . 1549 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held on the 3 rd ult ., when the W . M . was ably supported . After the lodge had been duly opened , and the minutes of the last meeting confirmed , the ballot was taken for Mr . Charles T . Townsend as a candidate for initiation , which ceremony ( although unanimous in his favour ) was unavoidably deferred until the next meeting in July . Bros . Tolman and

Didsbury were passed to the Second Degree by Bro . Kay , P . M ., who performed the ceremony with his usual efficiency . " Hearty good wishes" having been given by Bro . E . A specially written song was given by Bro . Cantor , and other songs and recitations were contributed by Bros . Busfield , Brotherton , Hicks , Morgan , Macpherson , and others .

TONBRIDGE . — The Medway Lodge ( No . 1 O 7 S ) . —The chief meeting of the year for installation of new officers was held at the new Public Hall , on Tuesday , the 23 rd ult ., at 4 . 30 p . m . There was a very large gathering , and it was apparent to all the brethren as they entered the Iodge that the installation of Bro . John Sills Charlton would be a great success . Shortly after half-past four Bro .

E . Monckton , VV . M ., ascended the chair , and opened the lodge , when Bro . Chas . Hogben , the Secretary , read the minutes , which were unanimously passed . The presence , in the ante-room , was then announced of the R . W . P . G . M ., Lord Holmesdale , who was at once admitted , and on his taking the W . M . ' s chair , was saluted in due form . After having opened the lodge in the Second Degree , he vacated

the chair in favour of Bro . B . S .. Wilmot , P . M ., P . P . G . R . Kent , who opened the lodge in the Third Degree , and raised Bro . John Foster Hall to the Sublime Degree of M . M . The lodge was resumed to the Second Degree . After the usual preliminary proceedings , the Iodge was resumed to the Third Degree , the brethren who had not passed the chair retired ; 3 Board of Installed Masters was

constituted , and Bro . John Sills Charlton was installed into the chair of K . S . Grand Master . " The honour due to our Royal chief and his illustrious house having been justly accorded , other customary toasts followed , the R . W . P . G . M . proposing that of "The Newly-Installed Master , " which was modestly responded to bv the VV . M .

Other toasts followed , bringing a successful day to a close—a day which at 1 O 7 S abounded both in labour and refreshment with true Masonic bearing . During the evening some pleasant singing was performed by Bros . Cozens , Cave Ashton , Hubbard , and Madame Cave Ashton .

The Provincial Grand Lodge Officers having retired in procession , the offertory was collected , and lodge was closed , and the brethren retired for refreshments , and spent a very convivial and musical evening .

Lodge was duly opened , and minutes submitted and confirmed . 'The ceremony of initiation was carefully worked by Bro . Peterken , who was recently installed into the chair

of K . S . in the Friars Lodge , 1349 . The W . M . then vacated the chair , and Bro . Moss , after due examination , raised Bro . Peterken to the Sublime Degree . Lodge was duly opened and minutes read by Bro . Stephens , acting Secretary . These were confirmed , and with Bro . Peterkin as candidate , the ceremony of initiation was impressively worked . Lodge was opened in the Second and Bro . G . Price of the mother lodge gave the answers to the questions which will be required of him . Lodge was opened up and the ceremony of raising was worked , Bro .

Peterkin candidate , the working having occupied considerable time Lodge was resumed . Bro . A . Peterkin , W . M . 1349 , and of 1 S 05 , was elected a member of the lodge , and promised as frequent attendance as possible . Bro . Richardson was elected VV . M . for the ensuing lodge

meeting . The working of the Fifteen Sections by Bro . Stephens on Monday next , at the Sincerity Lodge of Instruction 174 , held at the Three Nuns Hotel , Aldgate , was duly announced , and all lodge business being at an end , lodge was closed in harmony and adjourned until Tuesday next .
