Sqtiiro 3 , Dyor and Atlee . Those brethren haviug ropliod , tho W . M . said ho had yet ono more toast to propose , which was that of our worthy host , Bro . Stanbury . Ho said that Bro .

Stanbury , on this occasion , had evidently tried to out-Stanbury Stanbury . Ho had said that thero were now three Lodgos and one Chapter meeting at the Star and Garter , that if ho could got two more Lodges to meet there , he would build a Masonic Hall ; this announcement was received with cheers . Bro . Stanbury , in reply , said , that he would at all times endeavour to mako the brethren

comfortable , by providing such banqnets as should be second to none . With regard to what had fallen from tho lips of the W . M ., respecting tho Masonio Hall , all ho wanted was the support of tho Craft to onablo him to defray the outlay , ho would then find accommodation worthy of this ancient and honourable institution . Some excellent singing , by Bros . Beasloy , Stidolph , Goss , Squires , White and others , helped to enliven the evening . The Tyler ' s toast

brought tho proceedings to a close . We must congratulate tho W . M . on his excellent working , and on the honour which he hold 3 in presiding over snch a large and influential Lodge . We are pleased also to add our tribute to the worth of Bro . Stanbury as a caterer . We trust ho will see his way clear to undertake the task of building a hall for Masonic purposes , and that his enterprise will meet the success it deserves .

Carnavon Lodge of Instruction , No . 804 , Havant . — For tho benefit of the members of this and the neighbouring Lodges , we aro pleased to announce that a Lodge of Instruction has been formed , under the banner of tho Carnarvon Lodge , Bro . J . N . Hillman P . M . 804 , P . P . G . St . B . Hants and I . W . being the Preceptor ; tho first mooting was held on Wednesday evening , 22 nd ultimo , when tho

ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , and tho first section worked ; the second meeting was held on Wodnesday the 13 th inst ., at 7 . 30 p . m ., when tho ceremony of passingwas rehearsed . The subscription has been fixed at three shillings per annum , and this will bo an inducement for brethren in the district to join . Bro . Thomas Francis , P . M . 804 , of Emsworth , is the Secretary , and ho will be pleased to receive tho names of brethren desirous of becoming members .

Smith , Lovelock , Gompertz , Cambridge , Barker , Batchelor ,

Digman , and W . W . Morgan . The Lodge was opened in due form . The minntes of the last meeting were read and confirmod . Tho Lodge was then opened in the three degrees , and resumed to the 2 nd , when Bro . Wallington worked the Installation Ceremony , to the delight of all present . Tho Lodge was resumed to the 1 st degree . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Cambridge acting

as candidate ; Bro . Hewlett worked the 3 rd and 4 th sections of the lecture , assisted by tho brethren . Bro . Digman , of Lodge 1524 , was unanimously elocted a member . Bros . Perrin , Cambridge and Smith were elected auditors ; to give in their report on Tuesday evening next . Bro . Dr . Defriez S . W . 45 and S . D . 1278 was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week , and appointed hi 3 officers in

rotation . All Masonic business being ended , the Lodge closed in perfect harmony . A noteworthy fact in connection with this Lodge of Instruction may be mentioned . At tho last half dozen moeting 3 thero have been soveral brethren present before tho time fixed for tho commencement of the proceedings , their object being to obtain the post of any officer who might be absent . As a consequence the work of the evening invariably begins at 7 . 30 .
