The business before the Lodge was the installation of W . M . for the year ensuing ,-besides an initiation and passing . The S . W ,, Bro . James Shepherd ., was ably installed W . M . by Bro . J . Savage , at the conclusion of which the new W . M , appointed for Ms Officers : —Bros . Marjoram , S . W . ; Gough 3 J . W . ; Chidzey , S . D . °

Eves , J . D . ; Benjamin , I . G . ; W . Bice , Tyler . Bro . P . M . Buss then initiated Mr . Wm . Rice into the mysteries of Freemasonry , the ceremony being most efficiently performed . This over , the W . M . passed Bro . B . Banks , jun ., to the 2 nd Degree , and we may add that it reflected great credit upon Bro . Shepherd . Other business having been disposed of , and the Lodge closed in due form , the Brethren adjourned to banquet , and spent a most harmonious evening .

Old Kin g ' s Akms Lodg-e ( ISTo . 30 ) . —This Lodge resumed its meetings on Monday , the 26 th January , under the presidency of its excellent W . M . Bro . W . Paas , when two Brethren were raised to the 3 rd Degree . At the conclusion of these ceremonies Bro . Paas resigned the chair to Bro . John Barnes , who proceeded to instal . the S . W . Bro . Croft as W . M . for the year 1857 , who was afterwards pleased to appoint Bros . Marsh , S . W . ; Playford , J . W . ; Jaques , P . M ., Sec . ; Phillips , S . D . ; Gurney , J . D . ; Marzetti , I . G . ; and to invest Bro ., John Barnes , P . M ., as Treas . The Brethren , numbering twenty-eight , then adjourned

to the banquet , which was furnished with taste and liberality . The routine toasts having been gone through , Bro . John Barnes , as the senior P . M ., rose for the purpose of presenting to Bro . Edward Warwick the P . M . ' s jewel , which had been voted him by the Lodge on his retirement from the duties of the chair , which he had filled during the year 1855 , circumstances having prevented the presentation at the usual time . Bro . Barnes discharged the duty thus devolving upon him in his usual able manner , and Bro . Warwick having replied in suitable terms , this pleasing little episode was brought to a termination . Amongst the visitors were Bros . G . Biggs , Prov . G . Sword-bearer ; Bisgood , Prov . D . G . M ., Kent , and P . M .

No . 8 ; P . Adlard , Prov . A . G-. Dir . of Cers ., Essex , and P . M . No . 7 ; F . Crew , P . M . No . 1 ; A . M . Thiselton , No . 2 , and P . M . No . 30 ; E . Binckes , P . M . No . 11 ; G . Haward , P . M . No . 85 ; Jackson , No . 40 ; Cox , Oliver , & c . We must not omit to mention , that it was proposed that a P . M . ' s jewel should be presented to Bro . Paas to mark the sense of the Lodge of the highly satisfactory manner in which he had acquitted himself during his year of office ; and that Bro . Phillips offered himself , and was gratefully accepted , as Steward for the Girls' School Festival .

Constitutional Lodge ( No . 63 ) . —This Lodge held a meeting on Thursday , January 15 th , at the Ship and Turtle Tavern , Leadenhall Street , when Bro . P . Moss ably passed a Brother to the 2 nd Degree . This being the period of election for W . M ., Treasurer , and Tyler , the Brethren proceeded to elect their Master ,

and their votes were unanimously in favour of Bro . G . Grumbi idge , J . W . Bro . J . Shirley was unanimously re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . Atkinson , Tyler . It was proposed and seconded that a P . M . ' s jewel be awarded to the W . M . for the able and efficient manner in which he had discharged the duties of the chair . The Brethren then adjourned to the banquet , and the evening passed off in social harmony .

Lodge of Felicity ( No . 60 ) . —This long-established red-apron Lodge met at the London Tavern , on Monday , 19 th January ., Bro . William Kynaston , W . M . Messrs . Frederick Addis , James Allen , and Henry Martyn Tlielwall , were balloted for and initiated into Masonry . Bro . Westrop was passed to the 2 nd Degree , and Bro . Houghton raised to the Degree of Master Mason . A considerable portion

of the business was done by Bro . James Morris , P . M ., in that admirable manner which his diligent and patient industry have made so perfect . All business being ended , and the ' . Lodge closed , the W . M . and Brethren adjourned to banquet , which Bros . Bathe and Funge always provide so felicitously . There -were twenty-five present , and among the visitors were Bros . Crohn , G . Sec . German Correspondence , and J . B . King , 1 \ G . S . B .

Royal Naval Lodge ( No . 70 ) . —The usual meeting was held at the . Freemasons' Tavern on Wednesday , 1 HI ) January , and was attended with a circumstance VOL . in . ( . )
