St . James ' s Union Lodge ( No . 211 ) . —A very numerous and happy meeting of the members of this Lodge was held at the Freemasons' Tavern , on Tuesday , the 13 th Jan . The ceremony of installation was performed by Bro . P . M . Kelly , the W . M . being Bro . Lodge business ended , the Brethren retired to the banquet ; which was followed by the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , including the health of the W . M ., which was enthusiastically received and acknowledged by Bro . Gurton , in a very feeling speech , thanking the Brethren for the compliment they had paid him in re-electing him to the chair of this excellent Lodge , and assuring them the exertions he had used during the past year would ,
if possible , be increased during the next twelve months . He would exhort Brethren to attend Lodges of Instruction as often as consistent with their business avocations ; for they could only arrive at the position he had the honour of filling by obtaining a thorough knowledge of the duties of their office . Several other toasts followed , among which was one to the joining members , Bros . Deeley and Johnson , the last of whom returned thanks , in which he made some allusion '
